If it wasn’t for the frost in Blackpool, we’d all be sitting down right now to take in the Saturday evening treat that would’ve seen Ian Holloway go head to head with Sir Alex Ferguson. Instead, the Seasiders’ showdown with Man United can be anticipated as our first double gameweek, which allows to Arsenal sit proudly atop the Premier League till next weekend.

Arsene Wenger can give thanks to a fellow-Frenchman this evening, as Samir Nasri -with a quite sensational double enough to see off a resilient Fulham at the Emirates- continues to produce the form of his life for the Gunners. Nasri has scored four goals in his last three games, which takes his league total to eight already, and as a result of being awarded the three Bonus Points today, is the fourth highest-scoring midfielder in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game.

This form has not gone unnoticed, and the 150,00 Fantasy Managers who transferred Nasri in last week will feel their decision was more than vindicated with a performance that has returned 30 points for those who took the decision to hand him the captain’s armband. Such displays have considerably lessened the blow of losing Cesc Fabregas to yet another hamstring problem for Wenger and certainly benefits the Fantasy budget big-time, with Nasri priced at £7.9m compared to Fabregas‘ £11.8m.

Nasri is due a price rise tonight, though, but is still clearly outstanding value for money at present. Even upon the return of Fabregas, there is an argument to suggest he is performing well enough to perhaps even be considered as a better acquisition than Cesc, given his price, points returns and relative fitness.

The Gunners have a tough time over the next few gameweeks which will test their title credentials to the full: (mun, STK, CHE, wig, bir, MCY) but in a season where they can lose at home to Newcastle and West Brom and still hit the top come December, Arsenal are showing the ability to dig in and fight.

Credit must also be given to Jermaine Beckford, whose goal prevented Chelsea returning to first place. Having been slaughtered in some quarters for his woeful finishing against West Brom last week, the ex-Leeds man came up with the late equaliser that sees the champions in third place instead.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Where are the silly people who were saying it was a bale assist today?
A separate phase of play and the ball touched foster and then another Bir defender after goin in the opposite direction of which Bale initially hit it.

    Odd people even claimed it.

Officially, the English invented football. I'm sure humans grasped the concept of kicking something along the ground long before, but we made it into an official sport and devised the rules.

      I know. Ridiculous claim.

Also I know the benefit of hindsight is a terrible thing but I did mention to Mark this morning that I thought Bale was a strange choice for the scout picks.

I thought Brum v Spurs would be very tight and I didn't see Bale getting big points, he has only had 3 good gameweeks, albeit very good ones. He told me it was due to set pieces which was fair enough but another 2 pointer for the Bale faithful.

First post, so please be gentle. Need a 5.8m midfielder player for the mid-to-long term to supplement Nani, Nasri, Cahill, (VdV). Should I buy:

    a) N'Zogbia
    b) Etherington
    c) Another gormless herbert (if so, who?)

Both are set to rise in price tonight. I'd always planned to buy N'Zogbia (BP magnet, strongest performer in an admittedly goal-shy team), but Etherington's recent run of form is tempting, and Stoke have risen to sixth. Is it just a blip?

"First post, so please be gentle" love how people say that. what do you expect, you're not going to be attacked by vicious walruses!

Mid-term, a blackburn mid e.g. MGP or Dunn
Long-term, Nzogbia probably gets the nod over Ethers since Nzog is Wigan's only performer. However you need to be aware that once january arrives, nzog will likely be gone to some far away land
My preference is Brunt although there are many things going against him, e.g. his 4 yellows
Jarvis is also a good choice since he is wolves' best player so far and quite a lot goes through him especially at home

Cahill wont last long in your team, and VDV is injured for ?weeks so maybe you can fit two 5-6mil mids into your team?

Thanks everyone for the answers. Yes, having originally planned to use the cash from selling Cahill to upgrade Nasri to Fabregas, I'm now thinking that there's more value in keeping Nasri and just replacing Cahill with another 6.0 legend when Asia calls.

If it wasn't for Jermaine Beckford he would of claimed a first cleanie in ages. Chelsea just aren't the force of old and I mean seasons past not GW1-GW6. They just can't see it out like when they were under the special one.

There was a disastrous few minutes for my defence today when Kolarov got sent off and then A.Cole conceded.

I hope it's not a trend, dunn coming out early. I went for him this week assuming he would be on pens/free kicks against wolves. also a bit of differential to MGP's recent form bandwagon, so far it's an even 6 points.

think it's risky going with Jones/Samba since I already have Robinson?

    An ode to Kolarov...

"There are times, however, and this is one of them, when even being right feels wrong. What do you say, for instance, about a generation that has been taught that rain is poison and sex is death? If making love might be fatal and if a cool spring breeze on any summer afternoon can turn a crystal blue lake into a puddle of black poison right in front of your eyes, there is not much left except TV and relentless masturbation. It's a strange world. Some people get rich and others eat shit and die."

Drogba is a tough one, i think he has one more week in him against a Spurs side that always concede. Ill see how torres & bent get on. My risk of having both Nasri & Arshavin in this week almost paid off big time, Arshavin could have had a lot more points. I need to decide whether to swap him back to Nani or someone else for next GW or leave him in.
