Craig Gordon has announced that he still remains well short of fitness as he battles to regain the number one jersey at Sunderland. An article in the Northern Echo this morning quotes the stricken Black Cats stopper who is still struggling with a knee injury…

“I’m not very close to being fully fit to be honest. I go back to see the specialist in the middle of next month. It’s a possibility (that I will not be fully fit until next season). A strong possibility. I’ll need to wait and see what the doctor says. I’m in his hands and he will tell me what I’m capable of doing from there.”

This comes as significant news for Fantasy Managers due to the potential offered by Simon Mignolet. The young Belgian keeper has started the last three league games for Steve Bruce, conceding 4 goals and keeping a superb clean sheet at the Emirates in gameweek 29. That game saw a 10 point haul with 2 Save Points and 2 Bonus for Mignolet, bringing the 3.9 valued prospect to the attention of Fantasy Premier League Managers.

Although Sunderland travel to Eastlands this weekend, the clean sheet against Arsenal on their last away trip will give them confidence, while City’s goalscoring form is hardly convincing right now. After this, Sunderland’s fixtures improve markedly, as our recent “Frisking the Fixtures” article outlined. With this latest news on Gordon’s fitness, it seems likely that Mignolet will cement his starting role – providing a significant boost to his already healthy Fantasy stock.

Look out for his ranking in today’s Watchlist update; a full Watchlist article assessing Mignolet’s potential will also follow.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

      I think, note the THINK, that someone posted that Zamora was highly doubtful for this GW.

        Thks, I thought I read that Zamora should actuallt start this week? Might be wrong though.

        You planning to grow some marijuana? Might make the waiting more worthwhile?

            Not seen that Zamora doubt report - we've certainly no record of it - I was thinking he'd start for Johnson this weekend myself.

    Fairly set on my trannies now I think for next couple weeks:

    Foster (beg)
    Luiz, Kolarov, Coleman, RJ (Huth)
    Young, VdV, Nani, Nasri (Adam)
    (Saha), RvP, Zigic

    This week Saha -> Gyan
    During GW31 VdV/Young to Lamps
    During GW 32 Coleman -> Terry

    Considered Welbeck, Suarez, DJ etc but Gyan safe option imo. Good?

              if u want a more detailed reply:

              utds fixtures are tougher than they look - fulham and everton at home arent easy, neither of them have been battered away against the top teams this season

              torres is a class player and as i said with rooney back when nobody had him before his 16pointer against villa, class is permanent and he will start to score with utds nice fixtures

              torres also has a double

              berbatov has had a rest and will be back soon taking some of rooneys points imo

                  west ham look a good team lately

                  cant be bothered to go back 2weeks but i spent most the week saying i wouldnt touch vdv or defoe at home to west ham as i thought parker and teh rest of west hams midfield would run the game

                  i think west ham have more than enough to cope with utd this weekend, obviously i could be proved wrong but i dont expect anything great from rooney even if utd do win

                    Aye I'm with you there, just saying. You can't really compare Torres with Rooney in the hitting form thing either. Rooney was having chances whereas Torres hardly even sees the ball at chelski.

                    I'd say it's the other way around. Torres has been getting chances but just can't seem to finish or his touch lets him down. Rooney was barley involved in anything when he was off form. I agree with tosey, i think Torres will come good over the next few weeks.

                    while i dont expect much from torres this weekend he has to do something in the run between 32-34

                    if he doesnt then its a gamble gone wrong but getting the likes of rooney lampard torres etc in before they hit form rather than waiting and jumping on too late is what makes the difference at this stage

    That's the conversation about it, Mac1988 quotes an unspecified twitter source.

      Apparently it's off the Fulham podcast with Hughesy.
      I'm not listening to it (I'm sad enough to realtime search Bobby Zamora but not quite enough to listen to a podcast about a team I don't have that much interest in).

    Attila.

    On Wijnaldum, he is a good player. Plays as an advanced midfielder or a forward, scores quite a few goals. He is naturally gifted and raw. I would say he would be a very good signing. Had a bit of a dip in form earlier this season as Feyenoord were appalling and looking like they would be relegated but they seem to have picked up now unfortunately 🙁

      Cool thanks, the article mentions competition from a good few other clubs including Liverpool for him, so it's all just speculation I suppose apart from the fact we have scouts watching him.
      How about the other guy? To be honest I've never heard of him.

        The Icelandic guy didn't look great when I saw them getting spanked 4-0 by Ajax. He has only just come on the scene and isn't anywhere near the top scorers chart which isn't a good sign for a striker in the Eredivisie.

        I can't see Wijnaldum going to Liverpool so I reckon you have a chance. Speaking of Feyenoord that Japanese guy from Arsenal has been doing very well over the last few weeks. A few tricky dribbler.

          Oh aye? Is he there for the season or his it a EU National Belgium type affair where they stay for a couple of years?
          From what I read that Icelandic lad sounds like a target man type, there's loads of speculation about now. The main one for us is that we're signing Gervinho, but feck knows what will actually end up happening. We'll probably just give Kuqi another contract.

            Not sure, I thought it was just for the season but i imagine he will be back next season too as he won't be allowed to play in the UK & he is becoming quite a fans favorite down there.

            You never know with Newcastle I guess. Gervinho is a decent player too I think. Hopefully someone comes in for El Hamdaoui, he has been banished to the reserves at Ajax and no one wants to see him back in the team.

      Depends what you were proposing...PM would have had to have sorted a licence from the Gambling Commission. If it's football related and you need fixtures then you'd need to also sort DataCo licence. Then you've got to sort Data Protection. Then you've got to find a secure payment partner. Probably also get a lawyer involved on terms and conditions.

      A good few months I would say - that's just the business side without building the site with pretty extensive testing involved. Plus all the above costs decent money. Believe me - and I only had to sort some of that.

        In addition to that, it depends on the level of through traffic etc you want. I'm starting a business that trades mainly on-line and we've set aside a budget of €40k for online advertising (google ads etc) it's hugely expensive - €40k isn't much really. But that's in the tourism sector so you have to spend a good bit on marketing.

          I really don't understand how people throw so much money on the google ads thing... Has there been some research on how much it actually brings in revenue? I bet it's mostly hype. Especially as people have learned how to block the ads.. I don't even notice them, block or no block.

            I agree completely, I think the only worthwhile advertising investment is the google search itself. Our Accountancy firm's last 20 clients or so have all found us from there. Of course it is different for different businesses, just my view.

              Exactly, make sure they find you on the search engines and make sure you're known in the niche your targeting, but don't blow thousands on google ads imo.

            It's not all going on google ads by any means. But getting your company/site to the top of the search list takes a lot of skill with SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and hard cash. I suppose it depends on your field, a site like this one has a large through traffic and is well placed in terms of SEO - there wouldn't be that much significant competition if you typed in Fantasy Football tips for example. Whereas if you type in, tourist information Ireland there is an awful lot of competition.
            The money won't just be lobbed into google ads, it will be used to ensure that people find their way to our site easily, and importantly, the right people find their way to our site. Google ads charges you every time someone clicks on your ad, if only 5% of the people doing so actually buy anything you'll quickly be up the creek.

        Don't have Rvp, and got rid of lamps a few gws ago. I'm actually afraid of Arsenal players at the moment, they look gutless.

        Arshavin and RVP are the only ones who seems up for it these days. One is made of glass, and the other hardly starts now since Russia won the worldcup bid

              Fabs isn't pants at all. I had him, and his cost to point output wasn't as good as I thought it would be THIS season. All my opponents had Walcott who was much cheaper and managed to stay on par with me in terms of Arsenal coverage.

                  Actually, if they both start regularly, I think it would be pretty close. Therefore, @ 6.9 & 11.8, it might be worthwhile to get Walcott, and invest the funds somewhere else, like in getting RvP. That's my opinion though.

            Not a good FPL move, not guaranteed to start by any means. Barton will still be on set-pieces, hard to see where they'll play him too. Anyway good luck with it, I would strongly advise against it personally though.

    Anyone want to look at a fpl spreadsheet i've been working on and recently updated (i'm a bit of a saddo, to put it lightly ) and give me some feedback on it?

    It has 2 tables for upcoming fixtures, depending on attackers or defenders (pretty essential to differentiate in my opinion, when you think of teams like blackpool).

    It also rates players' value this season, only taking into account the games theyve actually played.

    My first season playing fpl so i'm pretty sure it's terrible!

    It does say that lampard is almost the worst possible purchase(if you don't take the double fixture into account) so i'm sure some of you will disagree with it!

    I know its a long way away but what are people looking at doing for gw 34? I've planned my team for the remaining gameweeks (dependant on injuries/bans)with my current plans i'll only have o'hara and begovic. The only other player that might be worth a shout is dempsey. What do you think?

              its worked well since i started doing it about 6-7weeks ago (i got lucky one week with huth bailing me out though)

              i think having 3 that rotate well and one more expensive defender that you play every week is the best way to go with a defence personally

        where to start? haha. Ignore the bit about m, w, k - that's me comparing my team to my rivals.

        It's a bit - raw!

        gc = goals conceded
        gs = goals scored

        From these, i made formulas to rate teams defensively and attacking (I.e. is it good to have a defender/ attacker against this team?)

        gw = gameweek

        The table full of teams/ gw/ numbers shows the fixtures by week, and the one below that is a rolling total for the next 6 fixtures for each team.

        For the players - it's a combination of minutes played, points total, and cost.. with notes when players are rotation risks etc.

    has everyone ever read the dailymail here? im noot too up on the political leaning so the papers in England, but as far as im concerned this guy is a rascist. I refer specifically to the the last part about the rugby (never mind the waffle above it). I dont think ive ever read such toilet journalism, and that's saying alot. The fact he's Jewish makes it even more surprising. I really want to tw@t this f**ker so badly.

      The Daily Mail is the paper that once had the headline in the 1930s 'Hurrah for the Blackshirts!', about the British Union of Fascists and their leader Oswald Moseley.

      They are regularly as racist as the newspaper watchdogs will allow, trying to blame all of societies' ills on foreigners, immigrants, 'ethnics' etc.

      Usually some amusing stuff on them here:
