The more some things change, the more they stay the same.

Carlo Ancelotti binned midweek’s Christmas tree and rolled out his third different formation in the past seven days as Chelsea reverted back to 4-3-3 at the Hawthorns this afternoon. Revelling in the familiarity of their favoured system, Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard were the leading lights for the champions as they came back from one down to comfortably end West Brom’s seven-match unbeaten run.

Our Captain’s Poll for gameweek 33 saw the pair placed fourth and first respectively and, up against a side who have kept one (yes, one) clean sheet this season, Drogba and Lampard subsequently hoovered up the points for their Fantasy Owners, with a goal and an assist for the Ivorian followed by a goal for Lamps as Chelsea cruised to a 3-1 win. Fantasy Premier League Bonus Points also came their way, with Drogba getting all 3 and Lampard awarded 2.

With the first game of their double gameweek proving fruitful for the pair, Fantasy Owners will be eagerly anticipating the upcoming midweek home game against Birmingham, where more of the same looks likely. Drogba has now grabbed three goals in his last four games in all competitions and with Chelsea just one point behind Arsenal, it would be brave of Ancelotti to bench him for the visit of Big Eck’s men as his team chase a second place finish. Drogba’s performance will delight the 63,000 managers who chose to draft him in ahead of this week’s double.

Florent Malouda -with an assist and 1 Bonus Point- and Salomon Kalou, with a goal, both vindicated their selection as Cheeky Punts in this week’s Scouting the Doubles article. Playing either side of Drogba in the front three, the pair were a threat to West Brom throughout, as this Average Position map shows. Kalou is (21), Malouda (15).

For Fernando Torres-watchers, the Spaniard viewed the proceedings from the bench for eighty-two minutes before Ancelotti allowed him some game time. To his credit, El Nino promptly put the ball in the net, but the effort was correctly ruled offside as his eight-minute cameo, once again, came to nothing.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Had guests all day and they've just left so can finally catch up with the days events.

Congrats to Man City on a shock upset of their red neighbours.

To all those who were panicking at 11:25 today about whether to captain Lampard, shame on you. Told you that this was the week to back your faith in Frank. He didn't let you down.

On personal level, glad I got Drogs in for Bent. Finally into the top 10k tonight, even if it may just be for one day.

then when i realised my main rival, who is trying to catch me, would capt rvp i thought i'd cancel him out

So i think i'd be happy either way.

I believe that Sorensen was promised all the Cup games until the very end. He's a good keeper and you want to keep him on the team if possible and not demand a transfer.

It strikes me on FPL that what separates the really good fantasy players from the rest of us mediocre lot, is that they get it bang on in gameweek 1, 2, and 3, value rockets, best players become evident and they pretty much carry on throughout the season.

Take the guy leading the fantasy football scout league, he was in the top 100 within 5 weeks making only 4 transfers from his original team selection and pretty much stayed in the top 100 since.

We all start off with 100m so what are these guys doing so right early on? Do they spend the whole summer watching pre-season games or what?

If this applies to you, id love to know how you pretty much have your team spot on from the very beginning. At this stage of the season, we all have overlaps of 6-7 players i would suspect, and only minor adjustments and captaincy choices make the difference.

So how do they do it???!!!!!!

its a fairly open game altho not end to end - despite Real stacking with defencove plyers Villa should have earnt a pen, and cut thro just before HT but passed....Messi has caused problems.

Other end Real has created chances with counter attacks, had 1 cleared off the line and look at a threat at set plays.

There is likely to be at least 1 red too which will open the game up further.

Of f*ck off Busquets. Makes me furious watching it again.

              But - great player 🙂

I can see the similarities, but I can also see a few differences between Ronaldo and SWP, Di Maria and Milner & Xabi Alonso and Gareth Barry

I'm having a health week so far but I need to get rid of Zigic, he has been rotting on my bench for months, I have 7.1m, who should I get in? Zamora, Sturridge, Carrol?

Yeah I am leaning towards Sturridge, although home to Arsenal and away to Fulham aren't the easiest fixtures. Zamora has the easier fixtures, he's just a bit shiit. Carrol is great but only one fixture.
