The final whistle has blown on all ten Premier League games around the country and for Blackpool and Birmingham, it sounded more like a death knell, as the pair joined West Ham in dropping to the Championship.

Blackburn’s surprise win over Wolves at Molineux meant Steve Kean’s side escape the drop thanks to a stunning first forty five minute performance that saw Rovers storm to a 3-0 half-time lead. Goals from Jamie O’Hara and Stephen Hunt were not enough to earn a draw but results elsewhere saw Mick McCarthy’s side stay in the top-flight next season.

Two goals from Roman Pavlyuchenko proved the undoing of Birmingham at White Hart Lane to condemn Alex McLeish’s side to relegation. Craig Gardner cancelled out the Russian’s early second-half strike but a goal deep into injury time means the Carling Cup winners will be playing both European and Championship football in 2011/12.

Wigan’s two main threats combined when it mattered most to clinch their survival; Charles N’Zogbia crossing for Hugo Rodallega to score his first goal in five games and condemn Stoke to their first home defeat in nine matches, earning the Latics a place in next season’s Premier League.

Goals from Charlie Adam and Gary Taylor-Fletcher afforded Blackpool plenty hope at Old Trafford but in the end, Man United’s class (and an unfortunate Ian Evatt own goal) dumped the Seasiders out the Premier League in Edwin Van der Sar’s final home game for the champions.

This means we wave goodbye to Fantasy Premier League (FPL) favourites such as Charlie Adam and Ben Foster, though the pair will surely be hotly pursued over the next couple of months and will be expected to earn themselves moves back to the top-flight. The likes of DJ Campbell and Roger Johnson could well jump straight back up too, given their displays over the season.

In Fantasy Football Scout related news, Granville has won the all-important race for bragging rights over the summer, beating Mark in a final day shootout. The next podcast should make for interesting listening, then.

This upcoming week we’ll be starting our 2010/11 Season Review, focusing on the players you vote for in our position by position polls.

Fantasy Football Scout would like to say a big thanks for all your support this season. Stay tuned for more to come, folks. There’s plenty up our sleeves.

I went on Mastermind last week and my specialist subject was Manchester United.

John Humphrys said, "Question one: Which Man United player is known as the Welsh Wizard?"

    I said, "I couldn't say."

He said, "Correct, question two... "

      +1

He took a succession of about four terrible touches as well, just before he played his classy one-two with Ferreira.

The initial break away was well done, and the finish was decent enough I guess (although he should never have given Cech the chance of saving it). Saying it was goal of the season was utterly ludicrous.

    This seasons stats for me:
Lowest rank - 453,052 after a disaster first week.
    Highest rank - 29,089

High point - Beating last seasons rank.

Low point - Being within spitting distance (16 points clawed back from over a 100 point deficit) of winning my work leagues, let down by liverpool fail and no goals from berbatov on the final day!

Learnings - Don't take so many hits.... 184 points dropped in 81 transfers (combination of bad choices, injuries and trying to chase other peoples teams), use wild cards more wisely.

            This

"It is possible to argue that at Milan he took over a side built first by Arrigo Sacchi and then by Fabio Capello,"

Heres are highest rated responses to this:

"No it isn't. The only player who played any significant part of Ancelotti's Milan teams that was also part of Sacchi's and Capello's was Maldini. Ancelotti himself was a key part of Sacchi's Milan, that's how far removed those teams were.

I've seen a lot of poor arguments used against Ancelotti, but this is by far the worst."

" signed up just to post this... What on earth are you talking about? Who, apart from you, would even try and argue that?

Milan were nothing in Europe in the years between the Sacchi/Capello years and the Ancelotti years.

Ancelotti put together one of the finest teams of the last ten years.

Seedorf Kaka Pirlo Gattuso, playing off Inzaghi and Shevchenko... What exactly did Capello and Sacchi have to do with that?!"

"Possibly, too, Abramovich would have respected Ancelotti more had the Italian publicly stood up for himself after the coach Ray Wilkins was sacked last November, in mysterious circumstances which have still not been made public. But Ancelotti's rounded character, civilised attitude to life and sardonic wit have always appeared to be accompanied by a certain passivity."

DBR, why would journalists be any less flawed than people in other professions? Some stuff they get right, other stuff wrong.

Getting basic facts known about one of the most famous people in the game isnt a small error. Its pretty easy thing to check.

Anyone with even the most remote passing interest in Italian football or common sense even would known there was a difference in teams between 1994 and 2004.

Let me repharse - people with common sense who follow any football anywhere know a guy who plays in one team in 1991 and manages said team after leaving it for a decade in 2004 will have to build a new team

Again as i said before if people embraced it more standards would raise.

A Journalist working at a top paper getting something so wrong in this day and age (where google can do all the research in 2min) is worth pointing out

I also find it amusing people think its somehow arrogant to point this out - i dont have to be able to write (which i cant) to point it out.

Yes people arent perfect - knowing there was 10 years and 10 different players between 1994 and 2004 doesnt require journalistic excellence........however much you want to pretend for a personal score.

This was definitely a year where getting a high team value in the first part of the season didn't give a person much of an advantage with the "big guns" misfiring/injured, etc. Made it more wide open I think.

Very good day for me, my highest rank of the season and it is also the first time I've been top of my mini league. West Brom's comeback was also pretty special, just a shame the Dingles fluked it. 😐

Won my mini league by a landslide and still finished outside the top 20k! I blame that on being so far ahead for so long 🙂

Hi all. For those not there to witness my moaning at full time, I lost my 19 pt minileague lead convincingly courtesy of my FIVE differentials getting a grand total of MINUS 1 point. (g Johnson, Coleman, Sturridge, nani, ridgewell)

Anyone lose a bigger lead on here?

    Best fantasy-season ever!
claimed no. 1 in the moneyleague with my friends, and no. 1 in the Norwegian Liverpool fans league on the last day. Being number 31 in Norway and number 1186 overall didn't "taste" to bad either!

This is nothing great to boast about, but thought I'd share anyway.
At gameweek 23 my rank was: 726,235
At the end of the season (gw 38) my rank was: 80,730
Nothing incredible in the final rank, but some serious progress there, mostly thanks to advice from this site.

Special praise to RVP for repaying my faith, to Yaya Toure for bargain consistency late in the season, and to Hangeland and Huth for goals from the back. Curses to Balotelli and Kolarov for ever being in my team, and to Odemwingie and Baines for not being in my team.

    Cheers to all!

Torres Magic, thanks for running the Millionaires Club league. I am retired and live in Virginia in the States, my first year playing.

I feel like my team is a Jeep, which just finished the Paris-Dakar rally covered in grime and filth, burst hoses, scraped paint, dents all around and most surprising missing two out of the 11 wheels I started with. (Coleman and Sturridge)

Well thanks from the USA for your kindness as host of the league and to Granville and Mark and all the contributors for their wonderful advice. My goal was to learn about the EPL and its players and I was gifted with learning from posters around the world, who are passionate about the game.

Too early to tell, not too thrilled with reading fitness reports, deciphering a player's mental status, checking on ankles and groins, reading a weather report for places 4000 miles away-- spending as much time as it would take to become fluent in Chinese--........

.......... hell yes "I'll be back", whoops ... not the in phrase to use these days.

You are more than welcome Jack Frost. Well done on winning the Millionaire Club. You were easily the most consistent player & never took a hit all competition. Great ranking also.
Hope to see you around next season. 🙂

16pt hit and a big fat green arrow 8) Also closed the gap between me and first place from 35 to a respectable 12.

    Goodnight all!
