The final whistle has blown on all ten Premier League games around the country and for Blackpool and Birmingham, it sounded more like a death knell, as the pair joined West Ham in dropping to the Championship.

Blackburn’s surprise win over Wolves at Molineux meant Steve Kean’s side escape the drop thanks to a stunning first forty five minute performance that saw Rovers storm to a 3-0 half-time lead. Goals from Jamie O’Hara and Stephen Hunt were not enough to earn a draw but results elsewhere saw Mick McCarthy’s side stay in the top-flight next season.

Two goals from Roman Pavlyuchenko proved the undoing of Birmingham at White Hart Lane to condemn Alex McLeish’s side to relegation. Craig Gardner cancelled out the Russian’s early second-half strike but a goal deep into injury time means the Carling Cup winners will be playing both European and Championship football in 2011/12.

Wigan’s two main threats combined when it mattered most to clinch their survival; Charles N’Zogbia crossing for Hugo Rodallega to score his first goal in five games and condemn Stoke to their first home defeat in nine matches, earning the Latics a place in next season’s Premier League.

Goals from Charlie Adam and Gary Taylor-Fletcher afforded Blackpool plenty hope at Old Trafford but in the end, Man United’s class (and an unfortunate Ian Evatt own goal) dumped the Seasiders out the Premier League in Edwin Van der Sar’s final home game for the champions.

This means we wave goodbye to Fantasy Premier League (FPL) favourites such as Charlie Adam and Ben Foster, though the pair will surely be hotly pursued over the next couple of months and will be expected to earn themselves moves back to the top-flight. The likes of DJ Campbell and Roger Johnson could well jump straight back up too, given their displays over the season.

In Fantasy Football Scout related news, Granville has won the all-important race for bragging rights over the summer, beating Mark in a final day shootout. The next podcast should make for interesting listening, then.

This upcoming week we’ll be starting our 2010/11 Season Review, focusing on the players you vote for in our position by position polls.

Fantasy Football Scout would like to say a big thanks for all your support this season. Stay tuned for more to come, folks. There’s plenty up our sleeves.

8 pt hit four times in last 10 GWs. Who says pt hit is bad ? As far as it helps you get advantage over the next weeks.

Finished my best 609 rank and won all my three mini-leagues.

Your help, thoughts and feedback much appreciated during this wonderful season

Yes, I agree - I went three weeks without improving my defense with a 4 pt hit, honestly had my eye on Lescott as the most dependable (his goals were a fluke)- would have made a difference - just bring him on for Huth when Huth was injured. That injury really hurt my final ranking, although quite decent.

If you picked the above team for GW 1 with Nani captain and didn't log in again until today you would find yourself just inside the top 10k, allowing for emergency captains.

Not bad, and not too far off being affordable either which says a lot about how this season has gone.

Re Ancellotti, as a United supporter, the fact that I sympathise with his departure has made me rethink my stance on the subject. He has never made the job his own (through the circumstances of Abramovich, the strength of player power at CFC and his willingness to accept these two issues without much respite). Perhaps a young , intimidating manager a la mourinho who isnt afraid to intimidate fellow managers, isnt afraid to question Abromavich and has a reputation to build (unlike Scolari, Ancelloti whos reputation cannot easily be questioned) is required.

Roman effectively fired Jose. You think he'll give him another chance?

I'd love to see Wenger sacked and replaced by Jose. Intellectual though he may be, Wenger has stared the obvious buys in the face for years and always goes for youth to "grow into the Arsenal way of playing football".

That would be these lovely triangular passing movements.

Trophies are for the masses. Arsenal can pass their way into glory.

        Hmmmmmmmmmmm.....

The problem with your last three sentences is that that particular model has produced possibly the greatest side ever assumbled. Unfortantely for Wenger, its Barcelona.

I've nevr understood why people question Arsenal's tactics, its such a lazy route consiering they often start the season so well. Arsenal's problem is clearly that they're extremely weakmentally - every time they get close to a trophy, they piss themselves.

I'm sure that they question Wenger's tactics since they are and have been a "nearly there" side for the past few years.

It's possible that if they had had Verm this season then they could have won four trophies, but Wenger's emphasis on youth leaves them without a leader.

That could have been sorted in the first transfer wondow, but it wasn't.

I'm a Leeds fan so have no bias but FFS, Wenger needs to stop planning for the future and get some leaders of men in there now.

I don't disagree with any of this.

Arsenal tactics are fine for the most part, but Wenger's youth policy does ommit the experienced heads to teach the younger players how to win the way Man U and Chelsea do. There's nothing wrong having a side based around youth, but yes, leaders are very much needed at Arsenal. You have to feel sorry for Robin Van Persie, he seems to be to only one in the team with that mental strength.

For example with Mourinho, many rival fans , even managers empathised with the manner of his departure but were happy for his departure as he was a guy who intimidated and put fear into opposition with his style of management. And his players responded to that, ie they played for him. Despite the soundings from the dressing room, the CFC players werent playing for Carlo post Wilkins when they realised his influence was jeapordised by the boardroom. Just my opinion!

I suppose it doesn't matter whether he's sacked in the short-term, as he wasn't there that long to begin with.

However, RA will have to evntually entrust someone with the task of rebuilding Chelsea now Lampard, Drogba, Cole, Terry and co are ageing. Someone will have to get a team and make it their own the way Mourinho did 6 or 7 years ago.

If the next chelsea side is just patched up with signings from serveral failed managers, it won't be able to keep pace with the Manchester clubs, and maybe even Arsenal if they get their act together in the mentality department.

Well, you have to take in to account when autosubs / emergency captain would happen during certain game weeks.

EG - After adding together the best 11 points total and then doubling the returns from Nani then look at weeks when players didn't play. For example Hart played no game in GW33 and Foster had a double, coming off the bench automatically to give 9 more points.

Yes. You also have to take into account each players original value so you don't have a team value thats over 100 to start with. But I made a mistake with Odem so I'll have to start again, not until tommorow though. 😉

All owners need patience with managers. If mourinho had stayed with CFC, he undoubtedly would have won the champions league by now. It is clear it is the holy grail with Roman and the longer he goes without it the less entrusting he will be with his 'manager' and vice versa for managers coming into the position. FFS, fergie took 13 years to get it (different circumstances completely i know) in a way at least man city are showing patience with mancini, allowing him to quietly go along.

To add my thoughts to the mourinho discussion above.

If I was a fan of a big club I wouldn't want mourinho.

He might win the league and a trophy or 2, but within a year he'll be talking about his next move... He'll spend a lot of money on short term transfers (Not worried about signing a 28+ year old for a high price - he's leaving soon anyway)

He'll do well in his time there, then leave the club in a worse state than it was (or could have been given the money spent) meaning future managers will have no chance to improve on what he did.

Especially Man United fans, who have had success built on stability... Wouldn't Moyes be better for them?!

Apart from Harry Redknapp, I can;t think of another manager who is selfish to a greater extent than mourinho. Saying that, he is excellent at providing short term success, and extremely entertaining! I like the guy.

And oh yes I'd welcome him to manage my club (Southampton) with open arms!!

i don't think after saf we will have a long term manager anyway...atleast mourinho knows how to win trophies and manage big name players which moyes lacks and there are not a lot of optons apart from him who can manage a big club like utd...oh and moyes team starts there season after december for some reason 😉

well to be fair united come stronger late in the season too, the difference is their quality overall is a lot better so their 'bad patch' isn't as bad!

If you look at moyes' bulging eyes he looks pretty scary when he's angry, I think he could manage big name players ok

    Quick Question

I finished the season with the exact same score as one of my co-workers in my mini-league . The EPL game has me above him (18,487 in the world to 18,507). What criteria is used to determine rank when the score is the same? A lot of beer is riding on this answer.

    Thanks.

      1)More goals scored---> 2)Less goals---> if the same numbers ---> 3) coin toss

It's whoever has fewer transfers for the season is placed higher.

I hung on to win my Country League by 1 point. N'Zogbia (C)!
At the start of the season my knowledge of the EPL was almost limited to players I had seen playing in last year's World Cup, so this site was a great help. Thanks for all the advice.

Ok, I couldn't sleep so I've reworked the highest scoring team possible if you left it alone after GW 1.

    Hart
    Baines Cole Hangeland
    Nani(c) Adam Malouda Dempsey
    Berbatov Tevez Carroll

    Subs; Foster, Downing, Hughes, Simpson.

    Emergency captain set to value.

It gives a total score of 2296, which would have been good enough for 21st in the world. Feel free to point out any mistakes so I can do it again, again. 😉

Interesting stuff Jonathan U. Out of curiosity did you look at what score you would get with the same team but with emrgency captain set to 'form'?

No, that'd take too much time because there's no record of players form for each gameweek, so I'd have to work it out individually for each player.

Incidentally, I've noticed a mistake with the total score above. It should be 2279, which would give a worldwide ranking of 46.

Fair enough about the 'form' vs 'value' emergency thing - I hadn't really thought about the logistics of how you could do that.

Interesting to see that 3-4-3 was the best formation - my guess would be that most people here would have tended to go for a 5-3-2 during the season (I know I certainly did).

Good riddance FPL 2010/11. You were one frutrating byatch of a season.
I came good in the end, finished on 7 green arrows somehow finished 10th in FFSH2H1 when relegation looked certain a few weeks ago. GW9 to GW31 nothing was working for me so 11k will do me. Was expecting much worse for most of the season.
My predictions for next year's pre-season bandwagons: Sessegnon, pennant, tchoyi, defoe & hazard. 😉

i lost my mini league by 8 points..

...and I took an 8 point hit to bring in tevez(c)

had I brought in just anderson for vdv (which I did), I would have won by a point with RVP (c)

I feel for you..I lost mine by 5 points...thks to Coleman red card...and walcott coming on and scoring for my rival. I nearly turned a 14pt deficit around going in final gw.

Should have kept zamora. And saved the hit.

      Lesson learned.

Ahhh...the powers of hindsight aye Inalize? Sometimes those 4 point hits work... but sometimes they dont. Still you'd have to be happy with your final overall rank??

classic psych out by my rival who was 13 points in front who texted me his two free transfers of zog (who i already had) and berbs (who i was just about to get)
thought I needed some differentials so went with tevez against my better judgement
He is just shite away from home (and I knew it)
That's my main lesson learned if he doesnt leg it out of the epl

Would I be right in thinking that if it wasn't for darren bent's goals this season, both sunderland and villa would've been relegated?

I think it'd be pretty close anyway! He's scored some key goals

we already had so much dog-fight this year for the relegation. Mix Villa and Sunderland into it, and it would be so many more combinations while the matches were on !!

Getting carried away, did he not cross the ball as stated in the above report? Thanks for the sportal league TM - was an interesting addition. A poor start and running out of transfers didn't help but enjoyed it.

No problem. I finished top 100 with my main team & top 300 or so with my TM team. Didn't apply myself to it that well this season.

Gutted, totally gutted. Desperate to finish top 1k and was 46 points off 2 GW's ago but finished on 2191 points and 1092th place. Last night would have been 950th with N'Zogbia's assist or captain VP instead of Berba or if I had left Rooney in and not taken a hit to bring in Tevez instead.
Such small margins in this game.

Thanks to all on this site for helping me in this my first season. Notr a great rank compared to most here I know - I didn't know what I was doing for the first few months - but I'm pleased to have got my highest ranking of the season after the final gw.

(If I'd listened to everyone here and not brought in Modric for a hit this week, then I'd've done even better - must learn to curb that itchy 'hit finger').

Here's wishing you all an excellent summer.
