Roberto Mancini’s riches are already begin to trouble us Fantasy Managers. Today’s victory at the Reebok may have added further evidence to suggest that they are a team filled with Fantasy talent, but it’s also clear that our quest for secure sources of Fantasy points looks a tough one.

David Silva’s opening goal, although exposing Jussi Jaaskelainen, reinforced the argument that the Spaniard could emerge as the standout midfield option this term. Once again he was City’s creative spark, feeding off the industry of Gareth Barry, James Milner and Yaya Toure in the engine room. Silva looks nailed-on for starts – the likely protagonist in City’s title tilt, but he also looks the exception in Mancini’s impressive armoury.

Toure will get starts but the role handed to him is a concern. So impressive when pushed forward to exert pressure on the Swansea defence on Monday, today, with Nigel De Jong nursing a foot injury, Mancini shackled Toure in a holding midfield role. He obliged with a disciplined showing that proved fruitless for us Fantasy managers. The ease at which Toure adapts to this role is a worry – particularly when City come up against more testing opposition when Mancini will be tempted to temper the Ivorian’s attacking instincts, hindering his potential.

Similar the sight of Carlos Tevez on the City bench, apparently content to extend his residence in Mancini’s squad, will be a concern for those who were seduced by the brilliance of Segio Aguero in Monday night’s game. City’s new Argentinian had ample opportunities to add to his tally but ultimately drew a frustrating blank. Inevitably, Tevez replaced him with over 20 minutes remaining – you could taste the disappointment amongst the Fantasy fraternity. In a brief appearance, Tevez also showed an appetite to be part of things – that has to be a worry.

With such an option on the sidelines, we can only anticipate that Aguero will always be vulnerable – perhaps not for starts, but certainly to having his pitch time cut by the introduction of his compatriot. Can Fantasy managers be content with that prospect week in week out?

Edin Dzeko’s start to the season doesn’t help matters– while plenty will be contemplating Fantasy investment in a striker who has notched 2 goals and put in a pair of impressive displays, there will always be concern that Mancini will shift to a 4-5-1 with Adam Johnson or even Mario Balotelli given run-outs on the flank.

For now Dzeko is picking himself by Mancini’s approach to the teamsheet is fickle and it can afford to be. City appear to have an appetite for goals and an array of providers queuing up to impress. Great for the Italian boss and City’s ambitions – potentially frustrating for Fantasy managers looking to capitalise. At least there is a Silva lining.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Considering the same but hoolahan to silva instead, not sure I can afford the point hit though as I've been doing so crap

Sods law states that any player transferred out will score big next week, think that could apply to mr Baines :/

Is having 3 City players going over the limit? I already have Kompany and I plan to bring in Silva and Aguero in the coming weeks. I know they would be 3 great players to have in the team but what if they come against a very strong opposition away from home?

I think that's a good idea, City look better than any other team in the league so far, and they have a good run of fixtures too.

I'm counting myself lucky this week, I had planned on Saturday morning to switch Vorm for Given and change my captaincy from Bent to Torres. However, after a skinful on Friday night, I didn't arise Saturday morning, and I did all the better for it! And people say alcohol is bad...

    Evening all,

Could anyone recommend a good website that tracks the price changes of FPL players?

Last season I was using FantasyTools.co.uk but it looks to be down this year.

    Thanks in advance.

wow another disappointing week. only 28 with bp's and nani to come. going to give sess, Osman, Moses a few more weeks to perform because i reckon as soon as i trade them out they will come good. will be doing what everyone should be doing with Torres this week. if he scores against Norwich he stays if he doesn't hes gone. Defs wont be my captain again though. probably going to transfer Doyle/Fletcher in this week for Holt. I'd make more transfers but haven't got enough points to sacrifice at this stage lol.

Good luck. I'm on 27 and that's it, if it makes you feel any better 😉 I think there is definitely no rush to get rid of Moses and Sessegnon, they played well and their prices aren't high. If you bought Osman then it would make sense to keep him until the end of their run of good fixtures till GW6.
I think I'll get rid of Torres after next game regardless of his performance against Norwich, Chelsea have two very tough fixtures, it's no hard to find a better use for 11 millions in this period.

    Right, my team GW3
    Vorm (Given)
A Cole, Shawcross, Lescott, R Taylor (R Johnson)
    Silva, Nani, Sinclair, Rodwell (Moses)
    Rooney (c), Suarez (Holt).

Fancy Swansea at home to Sunderland and think that Villa-Wolves will have goals will Newcastle-Fulham won't. If I had to make 1 change, I'd swap Rodwell for someone else but I want to persevere with Swansea & Wigan for GW3.

Haha, the ending of the post above ends with the words 'At least there is a Silva lining', just thinking what a great name 'silva lining' would be for a city fan's fpl team, too late now though hey. United fan myself, 🙂

How risky do you reckon it is to keep Malouda for 1 more week?

Sorry, I should know more about Mata, I do know some teams use certain players regularly in CL and "extra-league" Cup games to give them work, spread the workload, injury exposure, so I don't know Mata's effect.

The only plus I can take out of the tricky situation is that I have some good options, this will please me until I bench the wrong player!

No. I'd just sub them out. I'm subbing Ryan Taylor for Lescott because Newcastle have Fulham at home while City go to Tottenham. They're be good in long term, didn't City have the most clean sheets last season?

I got rid of them last week. Even tho they will still bring in the clean sheets, MC is looking more attack minded this year and as a result they will not get as many as they did last year IMO.
