Roberto Mancini’s riches are already begin to trouble us Fantasy Managers. Today’s victory at the Reebok may have added further evidence to suggest that they are a team filled with Fantasy talent, but it’s also clear that our quest for secure sources of Fantasy points looks a tough one.

David Silva’s opening goal, although exposing Jussi Jaaskelainen, reinforced the argument that the Spaniard could emerge as the standout midfield option this term. Once again he was City’s creative spark, feeding off the industry of Gareth Barry, James Milner and Yaya Toure in the engine room. Silva looks nailed-on for starts – the likely protagonist in City’s title tilt, but he also looks the exception in Mancini’s impressive armoury.

Toure will get starts but the role handed to him is a concern. So impressive when pushed forward to exert pressure on the Swansea defence on Monday, today, with Nigel De Jong nursing a foot injury, Mancini shackled Toure in a holding midfield role. He obliged with a disciplined showing that proved fruitless for us Fantasy managers. The ease at which Toure adapts to this role is a worry – particularly when City come up against more testing opposition when Mancini will be tempted to temper the Ivorian’s attacking instincts, hindering his potential.

Similar the sight of Carlos Tevez on the City bench, apparently content to extend his residence in Mancini’s squad, will be a concern for those who were seduced by the brilliance of Segio Aguero in Monday night’s game. City’s new Argentinian had ample opportunities to add to his tally but ultimately drew a frustrating blank. Inevitably, Tevez replaced him with over 20 minutes remaining – you could taste the disappointment amongst the Fantasy fraternity. In a brief appearance, Tevez also showed an appetite to be part of things – that has to be a worry.

With such an option on the sidelines, we can only anticipate that Aguero will always be vulnerable – perhaps not for starts, but certainly to having his pitch time cut by the introduction of his compatriot. Can Fantasy managers be content with that prospect week in week out?

Edin Dzeko’s start to the season doesn’t help matters– while plenty will be contemplating Fantasy investment in a striker who has notched 2 goals and put in a pair of impressive displays, there will always be concern that Mancini will shift to a 4-5-1 with Adam Johnson or even Mario Balotelli given run-outs on the flank.

For now Dzeko is picking himself by Mancini’s approach to the teamsheet is fickle and it can afford to be. City appear to have an appetite for goals and an array of providers queuing up to impress. Great for the Italian boss and City’s ambitions – potentially frustrating for Fantasy managers looking to capitalise. At least there is a Silva lining.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

How is Jose Enrique's job security?
Enrique + Jarvis or Kompany + Moses?
Have Toure and Silva as MCL coverage if that changes anything

      A shocking week is this:

Kalou – subbed after 28 minutes – not for being injured – but because the manager decided he was crap.

Torres – Captain – subbed on 59 mins, 39 seconds.

Walters – never taken a penalty in his Stoke career. Wins one (would have got the assist) and then grabs the ball and misses – 0 points.

      25 points. Samaritans number anyone?

Currently have Torres, Bent, Suarez up front and Moses, O'Hara, Silva, Sess in Mid.

I have torres who I am going to give another week to next week but plan on flipping him out, potentially earlier if rooney is electric tonight as Arsenal are looking shambolic right now. But reckon Odemwingie looked sharp when he came on so my choice is:

    A)Rooney and 6.0 mid

    B) Odemwingie and 10.5 mid (Nani/Young?)

Oh bench points bench points. Just one of those things - I can't moan. If the same round of fixtures happened again of course I'd pick Baines and Cole over De Laet and Steven Taylor. Sh*t happens thats all. No use pretending otherwise.

Just begrudge the jammy bastards who have Hoolahan, Zamora or somebody like that in their starting XI who get plenty of points coming off the bench.

I went for Surman over Hoolie to free up cash. That one went well.

Looks like Dyer was the way to go for the ultra cheapie if he is picking up bonus today. But I was close to having Surman myself so I dodged a bullet there.

You’ve had an iffy start me like Mr Pickering! Not that my team link is working to share of course.

Yes, mate, a bit iffy indeed. Hoping Chelsea muller Norwich next week with Lamps the focal point. Pains me I dropped Silva with these cursed unlimited transfers.

The only way is up 🙂

I wasn't sold on Chelsea versus West Brom. I will however be watching the game against Norwich through my fingers as Ashley will be my only coverage.

And I share the pain with Silva - I would have had him from the start if I knew we'd get a WC in gameweek 2, of course I'd have him for Swansea and Bolton. But I went with Nani instead at the time. He is a gameweek 4 transfer for sure.

I had Silva mate, but that was my only shining light(oh ane bent).... Nando (c) will i ever learn?

Bench did well, as others no doubt... Vorm, Simpson, Enrqiue 🙁

But I would play same 3 def and gk again, so right decision - wrong outcome

I thought that those handing El Nino the armband were feeling brave! Unlucky to got get at least another two mins out of him though!

I know, those getting points for playing Enrique at Arsenal must have a poor defence if you were picking him in the XI - Given Liverpool's record there and their defensive record in pre-season.

Betting my bollocks on Chelsea has left me feeling like Il Castrato this morning.

I need a massive game from Nani tonight, to repay my faith in him over David Silva.

Some boners for Bent, Bos and Lamps would help ease the pain of a dreaful start to the campaign.

    Come on Nani!!

    Managed to take OUT:
    Malouda, Silva
    and bring IN:
    Y.Toure, Torres (C)

I took out Silva, Malouda, De Laet and Bent (don't ask why...). I also benched Worm, Simpson and Enrique. 24pts with only Rooney to play... it's been a shambles of a week again.

Probably the most annoying thing Fantasy Footy-wise is taking a player out and they score more than who you brought in. 😡

If I didn't bother making any changes I'd have been on about 56 (pre-baps) with Nani to play, but I'm on 39 (pre-baps) with no-one left. Woe is me.

Not sure whether I'd have Moses to be honest, his fixtures aren't that great after this week and he took a knock.

The rest is nice though, Steven Taylor is already looking like a bonus points magnet so that's my suggestion...

If Moses is fit I'd definitely play him this week. Watched the game online and along with Dyer, Moses looked the most likely to unlock the defences. Hit the bar too, once again he was a bit unlucky not to get any decent points.

I have both Bent and Torres. I would keep Torres for Norwich at home as there are not many fixtures that promise as many goals. That would leave you with an extra transfer to be used during the international break when players may get injured.

It's funny what a difference a crossbar makes. baines hit the underside of the bar with a great freekick, and now people are already talking about getting rid of him. If that freekick had gone in everybody would be signing him!

People should bear in mind everton will have a double game week sometime soon and they also have reasonable fixtures.
