Roberto Mancini’s riches are already begin to trouble us Fantasy Managers. Today’s victory at the Reebok may have added further evidence to suggest that they are a team filled with Fantasy talent, but it’s also clear that our quest for secure sources of Fantasy points looks a tough one.

David Silva’s opening goal, although exposing Jussi Jaaskelainen, reinforced the argument that the Spaniard could emerge as the standout midfield option this term. Once again he was City’s creative spark, feeding off the industry of Gareth Barry, James Milner and Yaya Toure in the engine room. Silva looks nailed-on for starts – the likely protagonist in City’s title tilt, but he also looks the exception in Mancini’s impressive armoury.

Toure will get starts but the role handed to him is a concern. So impressive when pushed forward to exert pressure on the Swansea defence on Monday, today, with Nigel De Jong nursing a foot injury, Mancini shackled Toure in a holding midfield role. He obliged with a disciplined showing that proved fruitless for us Fantasy managers. The ease at which Toure adapts to this role is a worry – particularly when City come up against more testing opposition when Mancini will be tempted to temper the Ivorian’s attacking instincts, hindering his potential.

Similar the sight of Carlos Tevez on the City bench, apparently content to extend his residence in Mancini’s squad, will be a concern for those who were seduced by the brilliance of Segio Aguero in Monday night’s game. City’s new Argentinian had ample opportunities to add to his tally but ultimately drew a frustrating blank. Inevitably, Tevez replaced him with over 20 minutes remaining – you could taste the disappointment amongst the Fantasy fraternity. In a brief appearance, Tevez also showed an appetite to be part of things – that has to be a worry.

With such an option on the sidelines, we can only anticipate that Aguero will always be vulnerable – perhaps not for starts, but certainly to having his pitch time cut by the introduction of his compatriot. Can Fantasy managers be content with that prospect week in week out?

Edin Dzeko’s start to the season doesn’t help matters– while plenty will be contemplating Fantasy investment in a striker who has notched 2 goals and put in a pair of impressive displays, there will always be concern that Mancini will shift to a 4-5-1 with Adam Johnson or even Mario Balotelli given run-outs on the flank.

For now Dzeko is picking himself by Mancini’s approach to the teamsheet is fickle and it can afford to be. City appear to have an appetite for goals and an array of providers queuing up to impress. Great for the Italian boss and City’s ambitions – potentially frustrating for Fantasy managers looking to capitalise. At least there is a Silva lining.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Based on checking your overall position; where you are in a league/ leagues and the comparative team selections and point allocations therein; looking at the colourful arrows that tell you whether or not you have climbed or fallen; observing those who also feel compelled to share their exact points tally.... I'd have to say you've had a nightmare and might as well jack the whole thing in, unfortunate.

Dont do it! You will regret it later on. You have a decent team for this week. - Cole, Baines, Downing, Bent, Zogbia, Sinclair, etc all have good fixtures. I have Torres as well and he's the main problem. But will keep for one more week then swap for Dzeko/ Aguero in time for GW4 and City's good run.

What you do need is more captaincy options. Maybe plan to downgrade Torres to say Dzeko & then you can upgrade Zogbia to a VDV/ Silva/ Nani level of player.

Spot on Kevin re your captaincy comment. It's the mids that are bothering me. The player I feel I really missed out on is Silva. I can only get him this week if I swap for Downing, whom I've had such hopes for this season so do not want to do that.

Cheers for the comments, will hold on and think!

    RMT for next week:

    Given (Vorm)
    Baines, Lescott, Bosingwa, Simpson (Warnock)
    Lampard, Sinclair, Larsson (Moses, Hoolahan)
    Torres, Suarez C, Fletcher

Opinions on improvements? I've got a few players up against each other so I'm not too sure who to play.

taarabt wasnt impressive for the second week in a row, despite the win.
tchoyi is decent but can turn out to be good if wba stick to their 1 man upfront strategy. but if they turn to 4-4-2 with long and odew upfront, then he will be suffering rotation or play deeper

Official EA sports index top 10:

    1. David Silva
    2. Eden Dzeko
    3. Ivan Klasnic
    4. Luis Suarez
    5. Darren Bent
    6. Gabby Agbonlahor
    7. Micah Richards
    8. Matt Jarvis
    9. Steven Ward
    10. Steven Taylor

So it looks like Silva, Jarvis and Bent got 3 BPs. Don't know the scores from this week though, this is only the over all one.

Does anyone else here feel like a sucker for punishment? Had Kolarov ever since he came back from injury last season and stuck with him, continually playing him through his 1 and 2 pointers, hoping one of those 35 yarders would go in. Now I feel the same way with Torres. He let me down time and time again last season. The game most fresh in my memory is Liverpool at home vs Wolves, when they lost 0-1 and I had him captained. Yet, I bring him in again and even hand him the armband. When will I ever learn?! Never again, I promise.

Captain choice interesting for me this week...

Torres (NOR), Bent (WOL) & Suarez (BOL),

On form it has to be Suarez, or Bent (although a derby!) - but why do I still want to pick Nando?!?!

Whats wrong with me man 😥 ?!?!?!!!

That's quite a statement Big Oak. I would count myself as a serious player and I'm sticking with Torres (although relieved I captained Bent). He deserves one more match and then there are lots of good options after the international break.

Who to shoehorn in is the tricky bit with only three spots up for grabs.

Come GW4 Arsenal and Citeh have a brilliant fun of fixtures, so RVP + Aguero/Tevez/Dzeko looks good, and Villa's fixtures are still good so Bent should get some decent points. Rooney, Suarez, etc. will make it tough choosing.

I think there will be a degree of rotation with all the top teams this season, but on this form I can't see him being rotated for a while. He fits into AVB's previous systems of nippy full backs. If he can replicate his form of a couple of seasons ago his 5.5m price tag will become laughably cheap.

Moses is giving it a go and is only 5m...an attacking mid for that price with potential is still good. Boselli took up a precious striker birth. I'm happy with Moses for a while...he's hit the bar twice in the last two matches and is still a threat.

he's even worse, boselli at least found a team to take him on loan mid season.....
torres will probably endup playing in one of footballer's retirement houses in the MLS or Qatar or emirates...

Had to laugh at this from the Mirror's £pm column

Manchester United fans who tuned into Pravda-like station MUTV for a Rio Ferdinand webchat might have been forgiven for thinking they had tuned into shopping channel QVC instead.

It took a mere three questions before Rio began plugging a new iPhone app, before mentioning his gift to Anderson of "a pair of Five shoes" and telling viewers that after matches "I sometimes go and have an Italian meal at Rosso in Manchester".

The owner of the app, the shoes brand and the restaurant? None other than Rio Ferdinand.

Actually, the thing that REALLY cocks me off is how sh1t the unlimited transfers thing is last week. You've got hints of how things are going to go, but nothing firm, so you get situations like Steven Taylor or Bosingwa, who I had in for long periods of time but didn't include in the end. In a normal week I would nveer have looked at them and so wouldb't have the sinking feeling of having made a really naff error.

R.Taylor > Woodgate was a long term move I made which I'm regretting in the short term. Just need to think about where you'll be wanting to make your transfers - mids most likely across the season and take a deep breath.

a back five of enrique bos baines covered by r taylor and delaet will probably stay there for a while.
for the rest of the season ill just scratch my head with the midfield
        (i wildcarded btw)

          Nice Defence

          I have

          Given Vorm

Bosy, Richards, Da Laet, Woodgate, Senderos.

Toon have a nice run of fixtures and ST & RT look good but I'll wait and see who they bring in to replace Enrique before making any move on them.

Aye the midfield is more like a minefield atm.
