Manchester United have just joined Edin Dzeko in turning Gameweek three upside down.

In 90 minutes of football, United simply blitzed a bewildered Arsenal, ravaged by injury and suspension, ill-equipped and unprepared for the waves of United attacks and individual brilliance thrown at them.

For Fantasy owners of Wayne Rooney and Ashley Young, United’s 8-2 win has brought a rare bounty of points that will have transformed their Gameweek scoring. Three goals and an assist from Rooney, a brace and and three assists from Young, the returns are beyond our wildest expectations and the stuff of nightmares for Arsenal fans and their beleaguered manager who could only watch on while their inexperienced and shell-shocked side were dismantled. Those Fantasy managers without the United pair are unlikely to feel much better – mini-leagues have been turned on their head by today’s events.

This afternoon will have a major impact on the Fantasy Premier League game with Young and Rooney now inevitably set to enjoy huge investment during the international break. Prices will rise, Wildcards will flutter – an extraordinary end to our Fantasy Gameweek.

      That looks pretty good- mainly because Nzog hasn't found his pace and Torres is just a beguiling sack. I do think Dzeko may be an issue with Tevez- but you might earn a tenth out of it.

    Worth noting that Young looks like stealing every assist from free kick goals for united, despite the new rule about free kick fouled assists.

    With Rooney looking like he's finally nailed the art of a good free kick, it could be a considerable source of points.

    Everyone talks about Rooney, but when you look at the fixtures RvP looks a big threat, don't you think? Arsenal always deliver in the course of a season and end up high on the table.

      Of course. Roon is the man in form. Just scored 3 goals. RVP looks like his own shadow. A ghost. No confidence, no support....all by himself. And I don`t even wanna say anything about Arsenal. They won`t be up high on the table this year, with the team they currently have.

          Of course getting a free 0.1 here & there is good but in most cases they are rising in value due to being good enough to keep for the following gameweek.

      We were talking today on the option of playing Welbeck up top for England. I think players from the same club are more likely to have that must win attitude when playing in internationals, a la Spain.

      May be a tad OTT but it certainly cant harm providing a partner for Rooney that he can clearly play alongside.

    Tough decision to make.

    Wildcarded early (around GW5) last season and ended up with a good ranking, so fundamentally have no reservations with the WC option.
    Having not made any transfers however, it is mighty tempting to do 3 transfers for a 4pt hit which would at least paper over the cracks for a couple of gameweeks.

    I do have some passengers (Sinclair, O'Hara, Moses) who are yet to come good.

    Talk of price rises etc.. is very dramatic and missing the point of trying to obtain the most value from the players who are in form at the current point in the game - the pricing structure means there will always be players who are overpriced and underpriced anyway, so 0.1/0.2 means very little over the course of the season, if the only point is to maximise value and get in expensive players.

    Last year, finding gems such as Carroll, Malouda, Nani, N'Zogbia at relatively cheap prices and having them in at the right time was the key to success - not maximising value to ensure Cesc was in the team.

    Anyone in a similar position care to share thoughts?

      I'm in the same position. 2 freebies and reluctant to use the wc rather than just taking a 4 or 8 point hit.

      The main reason to wc now for me is the transfer deadline though.

      i think it will be rare that your team will be so bad that you really need to make 4 or 5 transfers in any 1 week. reckon there's more value playing wild card early doors.

          agreed, that playing wildcard now with the previous freebie has meant that the early wildcard has lost some of its advantage, but still, i can't really see that you'll have as much to gain at other times. may well be prooved wrong of course.

      Im fairly new to all this and was starting to think i was missing out on not playing WC to catch price rises. To be honest, this is only my second year on FPL (started from GW 2 last season) and i love it but i have only recently started to take in the role of price changes in the game, and thats just down to this site.

      I'm in a similar position to you, ive had a decent-ish start but certainly have 2 or 3 players id like to ditch and will do that with my two frees this GW, but i will probably wait til after the internationals.

    Funny how last night with 42 points I was the highest scoring player in my 20 man mini league. I never expected this to stand up after today's results though as I had no Manchester cover.

    But my word, that 5-1 and 8-2 were ridiculous scorelines in what I predicted to be tight affairs. Congrats to the people who profited though, I can't be bitter.

    By my count last night there were 3 people in my ML with Rooney as captain and at least one with Young as captain. Oh and one guy had Dzeko and Rooney but captained Agbonglahor lol.

    I am being truly creamed this week *Gulps*

        ok tevez and balotelli are good but this man city team right now is unstoppable going forward.

        Plus he has kept a solid team last 4 games (inc community shield). Can't see him rotating Dzeko out.

        if anyones partly a risk it's aguero who comes off after 60 odd mins every game. He will start though.

    But I've brought ouut NZog & Torres and brought in RVP and Ramsey, as I reckon Swansea'll be on the back end of an Arsenal rout.

    You can't lose 8-2, have two weeks to mull over it and then not try to put it right against a newly promoted side!

          there was that, which is a concern, but if he's injured I'll bench him for 1 week and bring him out next week. Not a massive issue. Not that I can imagine him being brought in by thousands, I wanted to get it done before Torres' price dropped

      I can see a bit of a battering. Swansea are very much a home team, and as you say two weeks to mull over an 8-2 defeat. I think there'll be plenty of goals for Arsenal in that game.
