Three was certainly the magic number if you happen to reside in the city of Manchester, with both Wayne Roney and Sergio Aguero snaffling hat-tricks last weekend. Here on the “Flutter”, we had our eye on a hat-trick of our own having backed three Fulham players to come good against Blackburn last Sunday. This, as you may have gathered, didn’t end profitably, with The Cottagers only mustering a miserable 1-1 draw. Our punts – John Arne Riise and new arrival Bryan Ruiz, were both hauled off before the final whistle, whilst Clint Dempsey failed to impress against a Rovers defence who shipped goals up and down the country last season.

More setbacks then but, while our Fantasy Flutter coffers are low, our spirits remain on a high as Paddy posts a new set of markets for us to try and stem the tide and wash some of that cash back our way. Surfing the wave of our potential gains this gameweek are midfield prospects courtesy of Tim Cahill, Scott Sinclair and Martin Petrov, whilst Wayne Rooney and Leighton Baines complete another Flutter lineup.

Although putting our eggs into one basket failed last week, the proven Everton combination of Tim Cahill and Leighton Baines looks too good to resist this time around. Our Fulham bets relied on long-shots and unknown quantities, but this week, Paddy’s markets appear to offer less risk and more value. Baines at 11/8 to keep a clean sheet and not to be booked is decent considering the flighty left-back rarely troubles the ref’s notebook, whilst Everton’s opponents Wigan have yet to score on the road. A confident £4 on Baines and cheeky quid on Cahill to score a header at 9/2 tie up half our stake this week.

Next up, Swansea’s “most likely”, Scott Sinclair takes on the Baggies at the Liberty Stadium. Having already hit the woodwork twice this season, the former Chelsea man is due a break and we just fancy the Swans to break their duck against Roy Hodgson’s defence who have been disrupted by the suspension of Gabriel Tamas. Sinclair is on set-pieces and spot-kicks and Paddy have him at 2/1 to score anytime. Those are odds that you’d have to search far and wide to beat, so £3 is easy to part with.

Even though most of our £10 funds are spent, we still have two tasty little markets to digest. Martin Petrov has managed three assists in four outings thus far for Bolton, all of which in games against top four clubs. His strong and pacey runs down the left, often with an end product and stikers David N’Gog, Ivan Klasnic and Kevin Davies will all be looking to profit against visitors Norwich this weekend. Petrov to make a couple of assists at 11/1 for a £1 stake doesn’t seem as much of a long-shot as the odds would suggest.

Last but not least, Wayne Rooney has been reborn as a one-man goal machine for United this term. A free role in tandem with Welbeck or Hernandez has seen Rooney thrive, producing eight goals in four games. With Chelsea at Old Trafford on Sunday, the going may well be tougher but Paddy are throwing an assist and a goal for Rooney at 6/1 and to score from open play and a dead ball at 13/2. With Rooney’s current form you could wager a couple of quid confidently on either. However, Chelsea are more than capable of putting up some resistance so we’ll take Rooney to score a header at 13/2 – a bet that walks the tightrope between risk and value for us and our remaining £1 stake.

Money Back If Chelsea Win At Old Trafford!

Paddy’s refund special for the Gameweek not surprisingly sets sights on Sunday’s United vs Chelsea tussle. This one looks pretty decent – if Chelsea can conjure a winning performance, Paddy will refund all losing 1st/last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast singles on the match.

This will probably prove to be such a minor thing but Simpson or Bosingwa dilemma is buggin me! Both will probably score 1/2 points anyway..

    Simpson OR Bosingwa to start??

I've decided on playing Given over Vorm and gonna keep the captaincy on Baines..

That's one risk for Bosingwa, and the other is that Man U continue their scoring form, and even if it's a high scoring game for both, Bosingwa won't necessarily profit against Evra, while trying to deal with Ashley Young.

Bench Bosingwa. Simpson has better chances at both ends of the field.

looking to get either SWP or Taarabt in... watched the newcastle QPR game last monday and thought Taarabt looked class but doesnt have enough quality in front of him. SWP just looked like SWP- dangerous but hugely inconsistent final product. i want one of them though and currently leaning toward Taarabt, what do people think? would really appreciate some thoughts! thanks

Taarabt on dead ball duties, SWP roaming about the park for .4 more (i think)
you're better off with Taarabt, I think you'll see the best of him now that defenders have other players to care for (SWP, BARTON etc)

SWP is actually 0.1 less expensive but yea thats no problem. i see your point and think i agree. another factor swaying it for me is that its always painful watching players like SWP, berba etc who are just so frustrating coming so close then not delivering, being lazy etc. worst kind of player to have in a fantasy team. the fact taarabt is on set pieces is definitely a huge bonus too

Taarabt looked like a player that is going to assist the assiter on monday night.. Wright Phillips looked like the player that will put the final ball in the box of get onto it himself..

Bonus point judges may favour Taarabt and he also has the luxury of set pieces.. Having said that though I've gone with SWP based on Monday nights performance and the freedom he seems to have been given..

ah the exact opposite opinion to the above haha. wright phillips definitely did look threatening monday night but that was all he did in the end, and he does have a history of it... think i may have to rewatch the highlights of monday night to make this decision easier...

Well in defence of SWP, it wasn't his fault the strikers couldn't finish, he should of had 3 assists and was unlucky not to score.. He seemed to be playing higher up the field with Taarabt supplying the ball to him..

Set pieces & Bonus points could swing it for Taarabt but i'll go with SWP for now and see what happens 🙂

    My concern for the weekend:
Rooney or Baines for captain. I know Rooney will do something (penaltie anyone?) in a tight 2 - 1 win.

on the flip side I see a chance for struggling Everton to snatch a 2 - 0 win v Wigan with a Baines penalty, and assist + Clean sheet.

Trouble is, if Wigan score, then those points are the same for Baines as Rooney.... and I know 90% of poeple in my league will captain rooney....

    thoughts on my predictions?

I'm going with Baines.. I've captained Rooney the last 2 weeks but I see this game been much tighter and I don't think he will do enough to badly hurt you points wise. I think Baines could pay off much more than Rooney but then again ya never know what will happen..

I can see a Baines CS & bonus points finishing on about 8/9 points so im gonna chance it..

same conundrum here (though it's between baines and rvp). rvp/rooney is definitely the safer option. why is everyone banking on an everton win anyway? everton have been sluggish if anything, and wigan havent been doing bad at all. in fact they're in front by 1 point, albeit having played an extra game.

Great use of the WC there. Jags has a string of difficult games. Silva over Yaya any day of the year. Mata absolutely dominates Sess. Dyer's head and shoulders above Sinclair. Only downgrade is that for Odem, but Aston have been so defensive this year and Bent has not been up to standard that it seems hardly a dent to counterbalance the 4 other great transfers youve made 🙂

All other positions,I feel that picking from the top 6 will lead to more points in the long run.

Remaining flexible as injuries/rotation/form will change things going forward. Sinclair/Brunt/O'Hara/....for Anderson

I know that all my rivals will be captaining Silva, and we're basically all on level points (which is remarkable considering all my captains have scored 2 every week, whereas they've captained Silva, Dzeko, Rooney, etc when they scored big). Anyways, should I play safe and captain Silva, or should I take a punt and go with RVP?

you'd be taking a punt if you went for Silva. RVP is the safe choice. Fulhams defence is pretty solid whereas Blackburns defence is nonexistent

dont really know. the bookies have manu at 1.91, draw 3.6 and chelsea 5. I think manu are slight favourites, though I'd definitely be putting money on both a draw and chelsea win

when Chelsea are dying to score a goal, forget goal they are not able to create chances against weak teams, how can you put money on Chelsea win or a draw.. Its definitely gonna be Man UTD win and hernandez/Rooney scoring a goal eaCH IMO

id put money on a win+draw because of the stretched odds. Can't resist a chelsea win at 5 dollars now can you! Against any team for that matter, even Barca

      Wolves Manager's Words

Steven Fletcher is rated as "unlikely" for tomorrow's return to Barclays Premier League action against Queens Park Rangers as he continues to receive treatment on a groin injury.

In more positive news elsewhere, Matt Jarvis has trained all week with no problem following his recent ankle injury and Kevin Foley and Stephen Hunt have both trained without any reaction.

"Steven still hasn't trained so it's unlikely he will be involved tomorrow," said Mick.

I currently have N.Dyer and Brunt.
Going to play N.Dyer at the moment, but anyone got a tip for a replacement for Brunt at 6m, would mean a 4 point hit...?

If you'd sooner take a 4 point hit than play Dyer at home to West Brom then why on earth did you buy him in the first place?

My back 5 at the moment is Raylor Simpson De Laet Bosingwa and Enrique, I was initially planning to upgrade Raylor > Kompany next week. But seeing as Taylor is still playing (and rising) and Kompany isnt rising any time soon (barring a goal this week) Would Barkley > SWP (if he plays well again) who is rising quickly it seems, and then go Taylor > Kompany GW7? haha cheers!
