Three was certainly the magic number if you happen to reside in the city of Manchester, with both Wayne Roney and Sergio Aguero snaffling hat-tricks last weekend. Here on the “Flutter”, we had our eye on a hat-trick of our own having backed three Fulham players to come good against Blackburn last Sunday. This, as you may have gathered, didn’t end profitably, with The Cottagers only mustering a miserable 1-1 draw. Our punts – John Arne Riise and new arrival Bryan Ruiz, were both hauled off before the final whistle, whilst Clint Dempsey failed to impress against a Rovers defence who shipped goals up and down the country last season.

More setbacks then but, while our Fantasy Flutter coffers are low, our spirits remain on a high as Paddy posts a new set of markets for us to try and stem the tide and wash some of that cash back our way. Surfing the wave of our potential gains this gameweek are midfield prospects courtesy of Tim Cahill, Scott Sinclair and Martin Petrov, whilst Wayne Rooney and Leighton Baines complete another Flutter lineup.

Although putting our eggs into one basket failed last week, the proven Everton combination of Tim Cahill and Leighton Baines looks too good to resist this time around. Our Fulham bets relied on long-shots and unknown quantities, but this week, Paddy’s markets appear to offer less risk and more value. Baines at 11/8 to keep a clean sheet and not to be booked is decent considering the flighty left-back rarely troubles the ref’s notebook, whilst Everton’s opponents Wigan have yet to score on the road. A confident £4 on Baines and cheeky quid on Cahill to score a header at 9/2 tie up half our stake this week.

Next up, Swansea’s “most likely”, Scott Sinclair takes on the Baggies at the Liberty Stadium. Having already hit the woodwork twice this season, the former Chelsea man is due a break and we just fancy the Swans to break their duck against Roy Hodgson’s defence who have been disrupted by the suspension of Gabriel Tamas. Sinclair is on set-pieces and spot-kicks and Paddy have him at 2/1 to score anytime. Those are odds that you’d have to search far and wide to beat, so £3 is easy to part with.

Even though most of our £10 funds are spent, we still have two tasty little markets to digest. Martin Petrov has managed three assists in four outings thus far for Bolton, all of which in games against top four clubs. His strong and pacey runs down the left, often with an end product and stikers David N’Gog, Ivan Klasnic and Kevin Davies will all be looking to profit against visitors Norwich this weekend. Petrov to make a couple of assists at 11/1 for a £1 stake doesn’t seem as much of a long-shot as the odds would suggest.

Last but not least, Wayne Rooney has been reborn as a one-man goal machine for United this term. A free role in tandem with Welbeck or Hernandez has seen Rooney thrive, producing eight goals in four games. With Chelsea at Old Trafford on Sunday, the going may well be tougher but Paddy are throwing an assist and a goal for Rooney at 6/1 and to score from open play and a dead ball at 13/2. With Rooney’s current form you could wager a couple of quid confidently on either. However, Chelsea are more than capable of putting up some resistance so we’ll take Rooney to score a header at 13/2 – a bet that walks the tightrope between risk and value for us and our remaining £1 stake.

Money Back If Chelsea Win At Old Trafford!

Paddy’s refund special for the Gameweek not surprisingly sets sights on Sunday’s United vs Chelsea tussle. This one looks pretty decent – if Chelsea can conjure a winning performance, Paddy will refund all losing 1st/last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast singles on the match.

The Betfair league have vacancies for three new managers for the new season that should start a week on Monday. The league is made up of seventy teams in ten divisions. Xpert Eleven gives you the chance to run/own your own football team and can become a little addictive. You can either takeover one of the three existing teams or create a new one of your own.

The goalscorer odds say Dzeko as the most likely to score and score 2 or more..

Is it a good source to back up decision to captain him?

I removed RVP from my choices as I feel Arsenal still not gel as a team.

I'm now considering only Dzeko or Rooney..

Several players you could ditch to save money for Rooney. Not that these aren't good, but Rooney is key:
Baines, Walcott (for Arteta?), Nani and possibly Dzeko. Remember Dzeko has only played one great match, and is likely to be annoyingly prone to rotation, competing with Tevez, Balotelli and Aguero.

I think your choices for line-up this week look good, although I'd consider Moses over Brunt, as Brunt has knee problems and might either not start or just play one half.

Many indicators (interview, odds, opinions) seem to back Dzeko to play.
Anyway, hard to predict as always.

No one talk about silva get rest but he has played a lot so far. I won't be surprised if he get rest.

He wont miss two EPL games in a row.
Do people not realise he had 2 internationals midweek last week.
Mancini said himself Aguero/Dzeko are ahead of Tevez and that Tevez will get his opportunities once he deserves them
It will be Dzeko-Tevez or Dzeko-Aguero.

      Silva and e.g. Surman in.
Leaving you with Nani, Walcott, Silva, Moses and Surman (obvious sub) in midfield.

Bosingwa should be last on your list.
On united's form you can't see them not scoring a goal.

Newcastle's were completely dominated by QPR last week and were lucky not to concede. Their away form looks dodgy. I can see Aston Villa easily getting a goal.

Liverpool on the other hand probably have the best chance of a clean sheet even though its slim. So Enrique 🙂

About sturridge.. As a chelsea fan
Kalou and Malouda are reportedly out of favor and there were plans to sell them off a month ago
Drogba/Torres cant play wide in a front 3 and have to be the main striker.. only one
    AVB wont change the 4-3-3
That leaves just Anelka in competition with Sturridge.. and ideally his position would be the main striker too
Sturridge suited to the wide right role and will start imo.. If/When he starts this week against Manu and does reasonably well i'll be on the sturridge bandwagon straight away

If he shows a continued run in the 1st team then yes, jump all over it.

However, at this moment in time I think Mata is by far and away the best Chelsea outfielder right now.

I think someone like Kevin Davies is going to be a good shout after gw7 and cheaper than Sturridge but, at the moment anyway, nailed on to start every week too.

Also, i posted this up the page
Sturridge started immediately after his suspension (and scored)
The way AVB and Terry talk about him I would say he is first choice, however may still be rotated.

Fair points, but I'm not sure if AVB really knows what his best strike force is yet though.

Drogba got injured which has kind of helped Sturridge, but Drogs will be available again probably as early as next week.

You also have the great £50m elephant sitting in the room in Torres. Somehow AVB has to work out who to play out of Anelka, Torres, Drogba and Sturridge, coupled in with UCL matches in midweek.

In my opinion that doesn't make Sturridge's place set in stone yet. That's all.

          Shoo-in Jack, not shoe-in.

So, Rooney or Silva for captain and Bosingwa or Simpson? I've had Mr.Potato and Simpson all week but now I'm starting to have doubts. Both Rooney and Silva could be below par after the recent run of games, Silva might even have a rest. Don't fancy either Chelsea or Newcastle's chances of a clean sheet but Bosingwa offers more in attack than Danny "2 Baps" Simpson. On the other hand Villa aren't exactly a goal machine, either. But then again last minutes changes are usually a recipe for disaster in this game. Ho hum.

Nah, I'm not the spelling police but that one always bugs me, for some reason.

This game seems much more difficult than last year, far more uncertainty around even the more modest teams' starting line-ups. I mean, I've got plenty of stuff to worry about in life without adding Mancini's rotation policy to the list. I like Nomar's idea of getting someone like Big Kev - he's not going to score a hatful of goals but he'll play every week and be fairly steady, even with the yellow cards.

I want Mata next week so I may have to sacrifice Suarez when I wildcard (planning to WC after GW7). Thinking of going with K Davies and Adebayor along with Rooney then.
