Three was certainly the magic number if you happen to reside in the city of Manchester, with both Wayne Roney and Sergio Aguero snaffling hat-tricks last weekend. Here on the “Flutter”, we had our eye on a hat-trick of our own having backed three Fulham players to come good against Blackburn last Sunday. This, as you may have gathered, didn’t end profitably, with The Cottagers only mustering a miserable 1-1 draw. Our punts – John Arne Riise and new arrival Bryan Ruiz, were both hauled off before the final whistle, whilst Clint Dempsey failed to impress against a Rovers defence who shipped goals up and down the country last season.

More setbacks then but, while our Fantasy Flutter coffers are low, our spirits remain on a high as Paddy posts a new set of markets for us to try and stem the tide and wash some of that cash back our way. Surfing the wave of our potential gains this gameweek are midfield prospects courtesy of Tim Cahill, Scott Sinclair and Martin Petrov, whilst Wayne Rooney and Leighton Baines complete another Flutter lineup.

Although putting our eggs into one basket failed last week, the proven Everton combination of Tim Cahill and Leighton Baines looks too good to resist this time around. Our Fulham bets relied on long-shots and unknown quantities, but this week, Paddy’s markets appear to offer less risk and more value. Baines at 11/8 to keep a clean sheet and not to be booked is decent considering the flighty left-back rarely troubles the ref’s notebook, whilst Everton’s opponents Wigan have yet to score on the road. A confident £4 on Baines and cheeky quid on Cahill to score a header at 9/2 tie up half our stake this week.

Next up, Swansea’s “most likely”, Scott Sinclair takes on the Baggies at the Liberty Stadium. Having already hit the woodwork twice this season, the former Chelsea man is due a break and we just fancy the Swans to break their duck against Roy Hodgson’s defence who have been disrupted by the suspension of Gabriel Tamas. Sinclair is on set-pieces and spot-kicks and Paddy have him at 2/1 to score anytime. Those are odds that you’d have to search far and wide to beat, so £3 is easy to part with.

Even though most of our £10 funds are spent, we still have two tasty little markets to digest. Martin Petrov has managed three assists in four outings thus far for Bolton, all of which in games against top four clubs. His strong and pacey runs down the left, often with an end product and stikers David N’Gog, Ivan Klasnic and Kevin Davies will all be looking to profit against visitors Norwich this weekend. Petrov to make a couple of assists at 11/1 for a £1 stake doesn’t seem as much of a long-shot as the odds would suggest.

Last but not least, Wayne Rooney has been reborn as a one-man goal machine for United this term. A free role in tandem with Welbeck or Hernandez has seen Rooney thrive, producing eight goals in four games. With Chelsea at Old Trafford on Sunday, the going may well be tougher but Paddy are throwing an assist and a goal for Rooney at 6/1 and to score from open play and a dead ball at 13/2. With Rooney’s current form you could wager a couple of quid confidently on either. However, Chelsea are more than capable of putting up some resistance so we’ll take Rooney to score a header at 13/2 – a bet that walks the tightrope between risk and value for us and our remaining £1 stake.

Money Back If Chelsea Win At Old Trafford!

Paddy’s refund special for the Gameweek not surprisingly sets sights on Sunday’s United vs Chelsea tussle. This one looks pretty decent – if Chelsea can conjure a winning performance, Paddy will refund all losing 1st/last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast singles on the match.

Just had a dream RVP and Rooney got a hat trick each. Im dreaming about football ... ive got issues

Football dreams never come true anyway but who should I captain RVP or Rooney .... or ignore the dreams and go Silva.

If I captain RVP or Silva I could either catch up to all the people in my league who will captain Rooney (if Rooney does nothing) or if Rooney scores loads I could end up further behind.

Think I may play safe at this early stage and give Wayne the armband.... help much appreciated

I'm wondering Rooney or Silva too. At the moment I've got Silva. I know Rooney is tearing up the rule book a bit this season, but Chelsea are strong and Fulham look weak and poss tired after Europe. So I think good case for Silva.

Wondering if I should risk Dzeko!

After a disasterous 4 GWs which include already using wildcard and NOT picking Rooney or Aguero so far, I'm toiling just inside the 1 million rank and close to giving up.

How about a crazy captains choice to spark into life.

    Stephen Ward.

Dont think I've ever captained a defendfer before. But its in hope that he keeps a cleanie and if Fletch is out, he will have a forward role.

Is this just throwing the towel in? lol

This is indeed throwing in the towel imo. I understand confidence is gone but we are only 4 weeks in, my view is if you are, for example, 100 points behind after 4 GW's then there is no reason you couldn't have pulled that back in the remaining 34 GW's.

Sensible choices from now is what you need to get your season back on track. Erratic decisions and you will find yourself further down the pack and more frustrated.

Out of those I would go for Shorey. Was planning on going for him last week, but went for someone else (which I later regretted). West Brom have a nice run of fixtures and Shorey has always been glad in going forward. Both Woodgate, Knight and Berra are prone to rotation. Brown is also another option for a 4.5 defender if you don't already have him. 😉

I´m starting Mata, he just looked too good in Champions league, and I think AVB is coveting chemistry at this point of the season. He´s nailed on, not sure others like Fatty are though. It is likely that if Malouda doesn´t start he will come in for Mata, god help chelsea if it is the other way around. They can´t mess around with rotations today. I think he knows that. Don´t sleep on Torres and Mata playing together, they would be great if they´re looking to maintain possession. The Barca matrix, with heavy ball pressure (see Luiz, Ramires tormenting Rooney) is the salvation

    Little bit of an RMT
    Vorm (Ruddy)
Smalling Simpson Shawcross (De Leat Bosingwa)
    Young Silva SWP Jarvis (Ferguson)
    Aguero Adebayor Rooney

    Pretty Good me thinks.

No Arsenal or Chelsea coverage but otherwise looks strong especially for this week.

Intersting u have dropped Bos and put in simpson (albeit u r a manu fan). Currently have Bos ahead of S.Taylor in my side any thoughts on that

I supose the United-Chelsea game will be decided by a goal or two,IMO it won't be a high scoring game compared to United's last few games.

Agree think maximum of two goals per team, talked myself out of Bosnow, Man Utd are bound to score and then relying on assists from Bos up against evra

    And Odemwingie and Silva IN
(could also go to Nani or Ashely webcam Young)

this has to be a multi-week sub. Who is the best for next 5 weeks?

No,I think he will play most games but if he does need a rest Mancini won't start him this week with a few important games coming up.

Ward might be playing OOP this week due to injuries. He is somewhat q utility player and towards back end of last season played on wing and up top

Hutton has good attacking prowess from Full back in a strongly defensive team

Wes Brown is a god cheap option

why dnt u go to fpl site, activate the search for defenderrs 5.0 or less, check their coming foxtures and if u still have doubts u come and ask whichever is better out of 3 defenders.

So what is the thoughts of Nasri vs Silva?

Everybody is saying Silva but I'm going to assume that everybody is just copying what somebody else is saying and don't really have anything to base their selection on.

I can afford both for Yaya Toure, not too sure who to go for though, at the moment I'm considering Nasri because he is magical, Silva has played really well in the two Man City games I watched though <_<

For all the Silva lovers our there, ill give u this though. Who's been taking the corners - Nasri. Where do most of the crosses come from - left side Nasri. Having said that, Silva is a helluva playmakers making assists all the time and takes the free kicks. When it's too hard to decide, take them both!!!

Silva seems to be more consistent, and is less liable to rotation (from what I've seen so far).

Silva is more nailed on although I think Nasri will score more in the games he does start as he generally scores more goals

so far (early days though), silva appears to be less of a risk in terms of rotation

however, nasri has returned some 2 decent scores relative to his game time making him quite appealling.

If you are adverse to risk choose silva although when they both play i would prefer to have nasri

Bent is a tricky one. He has seemed wholly disinterested this season. Regardless of the easy fixture I'm not so sure he will deliver any returns. Anyone got any reasons why he will?

Nope. I had him as well, but I traded him out as soon as I saw how defensive Aston has become this season. Lucky for me he's not been too flashy of late
