Our latest article for members examines one of the key questions facing Fantasy managers this week – the Wayne Rooney vs Robin Van Persie poser.

While Rooney approaches three of his most testing fixtures of the season, Arsenal’s skipper has the opportunity to find form, assisted by a kind run of Emirates encounters. Rooney’s temperament, in light of UEFA’s decision yesterday, adds a further variable to a puzzle that could mark a turning point in our Fantasy seasons. Indeed, two of his five yellow cards last term were picked up against a couple of upcoming opponents, with bookings against both Liverpool and Chelsea.

Using the Opta data and the ICT Index available to our Members, we examine the head to head between the two players, analysing their opponents, form and the background in detail.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

True, but my point is, since Manchester United are a better team than Arsenal, they will have more of the ball, so Rooney will have more opportunities.

What in God's name would you lot do with this lot?

    Vorm
    Komps Bos Simmo
    Nani Silva Dyer SWP
    Ade Aguero RVP

    (Krul, Ward, Warnock, Barkley)

    Was thinking of:

    Barkley out for Moses

but seems boring and cr*p. Thoughts?

Despite the big, all singing all dancing success of obvious big guns this season, winning doesnt come down to that, its all about mid to low scoring players who others done have..often anyway.
Nothing wrong with that change for me, as long as you are Ok with Ade and Aguero? i wouldnt be surprised if Ade played but if you got Aguero late on you could ship him for a week maybe?

Form over fixtures, Arsenal and Chelsea were supposed to be tough fixtures for United, Blackburn was supposed to be easy for Arsenal.

Rooney has been unstoppable, Robin has looked disillusioned.

    Join the dots.

Never that simple as you know!
Form cant last for ever. Liverpool are strong at home and always raise their game vs Man U, plus they have City next. Rooney has been in the middle of a shi* storm recently and could well not be so dan positive! RVP has great fixtures and they must turn the corne at some point.

Lets be honest, the form vs fixtures is gamble and a guess....!

Are you saying that you expect Rooney and United to become rubbish?
Rooney is a scouser going to Anfield after a bad week, the script is written.

Van Persie is relying on 10 players finding form, I'm not so confident of that happening and am expecting a few tough weeks.

No of course not. I am also defending my position a bit, as all on here are, as I dropped Rooney for RVP yesterday. he cant keep it up forever, even Ronaldo didnt score EVERY week for Man U and I can see over the next few weeks, RVP outscoring Rooney tis all. Its a gamble though as I say..it always is choosing between on big gun and another...

True, Ronaldo never did it every week but no one dreamt about taking him out.

I guess the point I'm making is that attacking wise United are bang in form with no signs of letting up while Arsenal are struggling with no signs of improving, you can't look at players past, the here and now is what is important.

Good luck, obviously I hope I'm wrong and you're right but a bit dubious.

Worth mentioning to anyone maverick enough to be considering a move for Gerrard this week, that there's every chance that the Liverpool line-up will be known prior to the 11:30.

For whatever reason, people seem to be able to get their hands on the Liverpool starting XI long before it *should* be known. We knew the XI for the Everton game, also a 12:45 kick-off, before 11:30 two weeks ago.

Cheeky punt on DJ? After the Fulham game Warnock's probably keen to reshuffle, and a home game vs Blackburn isn't the toughest fixture for any team. He's been on my bench for weeks but am considering sticking him in my XI.

I think he has to play him and drop Derry, tbh.

Taarabt looks a good shout this weekend as well.

In fact he's probably going to do well in the next 3 games.

Likely to play out of his skin against Chelsea-a game he will see as a job audition-then he has a grudge match with Spurs, the team that ditched him like a jilted lover.

He'll probably play lights out in those games just to rub it in for everyone who's already sold him!

    Enrique Boswinga Kompany Shawcross Naylor

    Nani Silva Petrov Bannan Moses

    Rooney RVP Adebayor

as captain poll has been cursed this year, let me ask for your comments please..

    (c) choice

A: RVP .. the poll favorite
    B: Silva .. a man in form
    C: Drogba .. the differential

i'm leaning to B now as not so sure how Arsenal will be and Drogba may easily not start.. 🙂

    Who's my keeper this weekend?
Foster (home to Wolves) or Ruddy (home to Swansea)?
    Leaning towards Foster. Thoughts anyone?

150 points behind me leader, STILL!

only have 1 free transfer, thinking of Ramsey in for Brunt. This is my Midfielders & forwards

Nani, Silva, Jarvis, Dyer & Brunt
    Aguero, Suarez & Adebayor,

Im worried if Aguero & Adebayor dont start im gonna have another crap week. Cant decide whether to get RVP or Ramsey in. Ramsey will be long term but I dont wanna keep changing my forwards, surely Aguero worth keeping as he'll be back next week?

Seems a waste to transfer De laet out but if he’s a non-starter then it has to be done at some point?
how have others dealt with him?

McAuley from WBA for me in all likelihood. Unless someone can convince me that Boyata is likely keep his place at Bolton

If you are getting him, why not get Shorey for .5 more?

i've left him to languish on my bench while hoping for one of his defensive rivals to suffer an unfortunate leg break.

I've got him and I'm not wasting a transfer to get rid of him. If you've got 4 other defenders who are all playing, I reckon you can just ignore De Laet until one of the others gets injured or banned. You'll only ever want to play 3 defenders anyhow.
