Few of us Fantasy managers had seen it coming.

A trip to Anfield, with a home clash against Man City to follow, was surely the last place you’d expect Sir Alex Ferguson to bench his two most consistent attacking players.

This lunchtime, however, saw Wayne Rooney and Nani sit out the proceedings against old foes Liverpool until a Steven Gerrard free-kick had somewhat forced Fergie’s hand. In the end, the duo were afforded twenty-one minute cameos but failed to fire, returning a single Fantasy point apiece in the 1-1 draw.

At least Roberto Mancini gave us warning- the Man City boss had spoken of rest and rotation yesterday but, with Sergio Aguero’s groin injury ruling out the Argentine, not many had expected David Silva to be benched as City looked to leapfrog their rivals and climb to the top of the table.

With Adam Johnson running amok against Aston Villa, Samir Nasri and Edin Dzeko were both given the day off in the 4-1 win- Silva’s appearance, midway through the second half, mirrored that of Rooney and Nani, with just one Fantasy point to his name.

A look at our Captain’s poll sums up the frustrations of many – Silva and Rooney sit second and third, an indication of the collective faith ahead of this Gameweek’s fixtures.

Today’s results afford Robin Van Persie the platform to produce the goods in what has proved a frustrating, low-scoring Fantasy Gameweek so far. Arsenal’s home showdown with Sunderland tomorrow is set up nicely, then; Fantasy managers who awarded the captain’s armband to the Dutchman look set to reap reward if the Gunners can see off an out-of-sorts Black Cats.

Two goals in his last home game certainly looks promising- Van Persie, the number one choice in the Captain’s Poll, now has the potential to be a major Gameweek-changer and proved the catalyst for a significant swing in the Fantasy fortunes of many.

Probably Bos out of those 2 as Kompany nailed on and more likely to get clean sheets. Chelsea only 1 clean sheet so far this season and you shouldn't rely on attacking returns from a defender

I´ll be holding fire for a while. With only 1 cleanie they are due for a tear that none of us will see coming. People will wait 6-8 weeks for Moses to part their point seas, but dump Bos like he gave up an own goal. Some people may well need the reminder of the Stoke rotation or a Shawx red and subsequent -2 performance. I might even predict he´ll put the RVP ship right next week...

He has played less games then those at the top and 1 of them he played 20 minutes.

Any ideas on improvements on this team.

    Krul Vorm
    Bosingwa Shawcross Simpson Brown DeLaet
    Silva Brunt Jarvis Dyer TAARABT
    Rooney Suarez RVP

double bolton coverage may be a risk...i'm still unconvinced by this petrov fellow, i prefer arsenal to bolton as a team so i might lean more towards ramsey (lets see how he does today anyway!)

i have boyata, he didnt do so good either but at 4.0 he freed up a little cash for elsewhere

Depending on the outcome of the Suarez enquiry I'm looking at:

    Richards/Bosy > Jose Enrique

    Walcott > Kuyt/Adam

    Moses > HBA

Any Man U fans out there know what their shape was late in the game when they had all three strikers (Welbeck, Rooney and Hernandez) out there? Was it a true 4-3-3, or some weird hybrid that had Rooney essentially playing midfield?

On 30 points with RVP (c), Ramsey and Simpson to play...
It would be a great week for RVP to hit a goal or two. I'd like Ramsey to get some points too as I got him for 6.3 million and could get a lot of price rises out of him.

From a purely selfsih point of view, i'd like to see Adebayor on the bench today, and get brought on at 70 min for a point 🙂

The thing with Mata is you would look to captain someone that costs as much as he does but at the moment he doesn't fall into that category. Secondly, Chelsea have scored something like 12 goals in their last 3 games and Mata has scored none and assisted 3 of these. Call me greedy, but this isn't enough for me. Silva, Nani and VdV offer more in the same price category.
