Few of us Fantasy managers had seen it coming.

A trip to Anfield, with a home clash against Man City to follow, was surely the last place you’d expect Sir Alex Ferguson to bench his two most consistent attacking players.

This lunchtime, however, saw Wayne Rooney and Nani sit out the proceedings against old foes Liverpool until a Steven Gerrard free-kick had somewhat forced Fergie’s hand. In the end, the duo were afforded twenty-one minute cameos but failed to fire, returning a single Fantasy point apiece in the 1-1 draw.

At least Roberto Mancini gave us warning- the Man City boss had spoken of rest and rotation yesterday but, with Sergio Aguero’s groin injury ruling out the Argentine, not many had expected David Silva to be benched as City looked to leapfrog their rivals and climb to the top of the table.

With Adam Johnson running amok against Aston Villa, Samir Nasri and Edin Dzeko were both given the day off in the 4-1 win- Silva’s appearance, midway through the second half, mirrored that of Rooney and Nani, with just one Fantasy point to his name.

A look at our Captain’s poll sums up the frustrations of many – Silva and Rooney sit second and third, an indication of the collective faith ahead of this Gameweek’s fixtures.

Today’s results afford Robin Van Persie the platform to produce the goods in what has proved a frustrating, low-scoring Fantasy Gameweek so far. Arsenal’s home showdown with Sunderland tomorrow is set up nicely, then; Fantasy managers who awarded the captain’s armband to the Dutchman look set to reap reward if the Gunners can see off an out-of-sorts Black Cats.

Two goals in his last home game certainly looks promising- Van Persie, the number one choice in the Captain’s Poll, now has the potential to be a major Gameweek-changer and proved the catalyst for a significant swing in the Fantasy fortunes of many.

About the only good news for me this week that. I already planned to sell him this week, and now he's 0.1 more. But otherwise, what an abysmal week.

Ok so I'm needing some suggestions here, my side seems to look like it needs a change or two

    Vorm
    Kompany, Bosingwa, Enrique
    Silva, Jarvis, Barton, Anderson
    Rooney, Aguero, Suarez

subs Given, S Taylor, N Taylor, Dyer

Worried about Jarvis in poor form, Anderson not doing much and not even playing today, Dyer does bugger all, Barton not getting any goals or assists

I've got 0.1 in the bank and 1 trade avail.

Should I take a hit or two and who should go and who should come in?

You don't wanna lose Jarvis in a week that Wolves will host Swansea at home.

I still think Anderson will be a key man of United this season. Not only him was rested but Rooney and Nani, so you don't have to be worried with one absence.

Your defense and forwards are excellent. IMO. Your priority to get rid is Barton as QPR fixtures are getting worse after this week. Also, you just need to monitor news about Suarez to see if he will be guilty as Evra claims.

uv got a good team but a poor midfield, jarvis anderson barton should be changed, ramsey should be there instead but not sure about the prices concerning the other 2. i think u can afford a good/midprice mid and a cheapie, also u can dowgrade a defender out of enrique bos and kompany to raise funds
dnt take too many hits, its a team that can be sorted in around 3-4 weeks.
maybe 1 hit for a start to bring the big guy would be a good idea

Mata is class but at 9.6m you expect to get more points than just an assist. He also seems to get pulled off early which never helps. If VDV stays healthy and is on form, I'll be making the switch.

Why get rid of Mata before they slay QPR who have not won at home?

If he fails there then fair enough, I've added Lampard to Mata for next week, QPR won't test Chelsea as much as Wolves will with Liverpool.

Bit early to transfer out Bannan, I feel. Probably just rested, but obviously worth keeping an eye on his minutes. No obvious decent options at that price though. And Nani I'd hang onto for a bit too. Suarez looks good for 3 weeks if he's not suspended for the racism allegations.

Bannan was an injury doubt and had a midweek international.
          Jarvis is home to Swansea.
Nani is Nani, idiotic even mentioning him.
Suarez has 3 of the easiest fixtures possible, and has been in good form if you watch the games.
Dzeko and Moses have to go IMO

bannan u can keep him, not many better options at this price, but may be droped once heskey is back
suarez is not returning pts. he's doing everything else though
dzeko is now 3rd choice after aguero and balo
moses is dead and buried (had him since the start of the season.... depressing)
nani can be kept, if u have big hitters around him, the occasional double figure will come handy
and jarvis, i havnt watched him play yet this season

And those stupid enough to get rid would be getting Lampard as they will see how much points he has got.

I have just enough money to do Moses to Ramires, although, Ramires seems to be a bit of a doubt and is going for a knee scan his price will rise and I won't be able to afford him. Other options that would allow me to sit and wait and not be too hasty are Adebayor to Suarez, Moses to Ramsey or Moses to Pilkington/Bannan/Song and Adebayor to Suarez so at the moment which looks best?
    1. Moses to Ramires
    2. Adebayor to Suarez (leaving me with enough money to upgrade Moses at a later date)
    3. Moses to Ramsey
    4. Moses to Pilkington/Bannan/Song (leaving me with enough to do Ade to Suarez at a later date if necessary)
    Thanks guys!

Yeah 1 or 3 look advisable Song would be a decent punt if he wasn´t such a card risk, and the worse Arsenal seem to play in shorter spurts, the more he picks it up offensively (if he´s not saddled in a CB role) Many fellow Gunner fans last year used to blame him going forward for the poor play when in actuality many of his fellow players didn´t seem to hold their end.

I´ve got my eye on him.

Interesting idea that Demi, I was thinking of doing Moses to Ramires or Ramsey as I have enough money in the bank. Based on your 5th midfielder idea what change would you make to the following? Maybe upgrade Brown?

        Vorm, Given
J Enrique, Richards, Bosingwa, S.Taylor, Brown
Petrov, A Young, Silva, Moses, Sinclair
        RVP, Sturridge, Adebayor

I probably wouldn't upgrade Brown, but can see the appeal, due to Sunderland's fixtures. I would just get an alternative for the same or lower price.

          Boyata/Wilkinson/Tierney/Naylor/McAuley are all viable options.

You've got an expensive defence with the triumverate of Enrique-Richards-Bosingwa so upgrading Brown would probably be make it too much funds locked in your defence.
Forward line is fine however. Maybe gradually look at downgrading Richards to Kompany for a more nailed on starter, or even Selling Ashley Young

If Evra's allegations are true it doesn't necessarily mean that Suarez is a racist. We've seen that he's willing to cheat to try and win games. I'm sure he'd be prepared to say anything to an opponent to try and get them sent off, whether he believed what he was saying or not. It's still all in very bad taste of course.

i sort of like him but i've always been a touch circumspect about racists, I just can't quite seem to let it pass:(

The problem I have is which is worse, being racist to someone or calling someone's mother a ****? All overly-insulting insults are bad enough...... Not saying Evra is porky pie telling but the race card is a convenient one for some controversy.....

      Heh... "overly-insulting insults" 🙂

Suarez wound Evra up and it worked. Also, are we to believe Evra what with the Chelsea accusation in the past (quite why a Chelsea goundsman would be racist to Evra when half of Chelsea were/are black is beyond me).

+1. I'm not saying Luis is innocent but Evra's a prima donna. Lets not forget his antics at the world cup and the disgraceful way (biased) he slagged off Ireland after cheating us.

But do they save their racism only for people in different companies? Not forgetting that some of the black people may be racist themselves.

Blimey... this is too much before breakfast. Time to get the bacon on!

from what i can tell the main thing that links the target of their racism is colour of skin. though to be fair most of the time they're careful not to let it out, it mostly occurs when there are no black people around and they feel able to relax a little, though on occasion i've seen it slip out involuntarily
