[sbu_large_image] The Knee Jerk

Few of us Fantasy managers had seen it coming.

A trip to Anfield, with a home clash against Man City to follow, was surely the last place you’d expect Sir Alex Ferguson to bench his two most consistent attacking players.

This lunchtime, however, saw Wayne Rooney and Nani sit out the proceedings against old foes Liverpool until a Steven Gerrard free-kick had somewhat forced Fergie’s hand. In the end, the duo were afforded twenty-one minute cameos but failed to fire, returning a single Fantasy point apiece in the 1-1 draw.

At least Roberto Mancini gave us warning- the Man City boss had spoken of rest and rotation yesterday but, with Sergio Aguero’s groin injury ruling out the Argentine, not many had expected David Silva to be benched as City looked to leapfrog their rivals and climb to the top of the table.

With Adam Johnson running amok against Aston Villa, Samir Nasri and Edin Dzeko were both given the day off in the 4-1 win- Silva’s appearance, midway through the second half, mirrored that of Rooney and Nani, with just one Fantasy point to his name.

A look at our Captain’s poll sums up the frustrations of many – Silva and Rooney sit second and third, an indication of the collective faith ahead of this Gameweek’s fixtures.

Today’s results afford Robin Van Persie the platform to produce the goods in what has proved a frustrating, low-scoring Fantasy Gameweek so far. Arsenal’s home showdown with Sunderland tomorrow is set up nicely, then; Fantasy managers who awarded the captain’s armband to the Dutchman look set to reap reward if the Gunners can see off an out-of-sorts Black Cats.

Two goals in his last home game certainly looks promising- Van Persie, the number one choice in the Captain’s Poll, now has the potential to be a major Gameweek-changer and proved the catalyst for a significant swing in the Fantasy fortunes of many.

I'm thinking if Jarvis doesn't deliver again tmw I'll swap him for Bannan (don't think Heskey did anything to convince hes worthy of his place) and use the extra cash to upgrade De Laet to Warnock.

    Any objections?

I think Wolves will win tomorrow, but Jarvis isn't a nailed on starter - he's been poor the last few games and Hammill/Hunt might be McCarthy's starting wingers (please Mick!)

On 40 with Simpson and possibly Ade to come.

Still a bit annoyed because i transferred Woodgate in this week because I didn't hear any whisper of injury and he'd started 6 out of 7. And Stoke are the only clean sheet of the weekend so far...a little greedy maybe :)!

My second option was dzeko to sturridge...but oh well. I know others have been burned more

Mata is starting to become like modric in fantasy terms, assisting the assister. Even worse his not even getting 90mins on the pitch. Bloody regret knee jerking onto that bandwagon, 2 weeks ago. AVOID!!

Oh the irony. I'm heading for one of my worst ever scores, but am probably the happiest I've ever been with a squad.

I imagine there must be a fair few decent FPL players staring at their squads thinking 'this looks really good - why am I scoring so badly?'

Hey Jonty, ridiculous gameweek, even my idea of playing Moses ahead of Nani wasn't that bad after all 😉

He was my 3rd. Silva's cameo has blocked him coming on. Pain in the arse.

This is my team at the minute:

    Given Al-Habsi
Bosingwa Jones Kompany Simpson N Taylor
    Young Nasri Ramsey Larsson Petrov
    Aguero Sturridge Agbonlahor

I have 2.3 million in the bank from this gameweek, any ideas of where it should be spent?
    Is n
Nasri - Silva and Young - Nani definitely necessary transfers?
What do people think about Ramsey to Arteta?
Is Phil Jones nailed on to play week in week out?
    Any help would be appreciated.
