The phrase “must-have” is far too often overused when measuring the merits of Fantasy prospects.Sometimes it can take just a brief burst of form to get certain bandwagons up and running; a hat-trick here and a double there and managers are scrambling to juggle budgets in order to accommodate the latest flavour of the month.

There have been contenders this season, no doubt. Wayne Rooney flew out the traps, firing 9 goals in his first five gameweeks, while over in the blue half of Manchester, Sergio Aguero was adjusting to life at the Etihad seamlessly following his summer move from Atletico Madrid. The Argentine bagged 8 goals over the same period as City’s new attacking outlook took the top-flight by storm.

Robin Van Persie was sluggish in comparison. Five games in and the Dutchman has found the net just once. In retrospect, those stats read more like an absurd anomaly now, a brief stain in an otherwise immaculate record that shows no sign of letting up.

There was something of an inevitability about today’s trip to Carrow Road. Can we really raise an eyebrow at a brace, with the maximum bonus surely certain to follow? Paul Lambert’s Norwich can take solace in the fact they are simply another in a long line of opponents put to the sword by an extraordinary scoring spree that has seen Van Persie find the net 12 times in the last seven gameweeks as the new-look Arsenal storm up the table.

This article is no more than a homage to you then, RVP. A thankyou from Fantasy managers who seem to have finally found their new Cristiano Ronaldo. Back in 2007/08, the Man United man grabbed 31 goals in 34 games and was, arguably, the last real must-have. Good for the armband most weeks, almost always guaranteed to produce the points.

Since the start of this calendar year, in a run of 28 league games stretching back to a trip to St Andrews on New Year’s day, Van Persie has now scored a total of 31 goals. The likes of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri may be gone but the goals are far from drying up- whether it’s Chelsea away or Bolton at home, Van Persie steamrollers teams regardless. A Fantasy captain for every occasion, a real Robin relentless.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

      Helgusson and Yakubu.

QPR have passed the 4 match evil patch with pretty much flying colours and appear to have found their scoring boots now.

They also already have 3 road wins so they have shown that playing away doesn't pose problems for them. Fixtures getting better for them now too so Helgs looks like he's on for more returns.

Blackburn won't win many games but they tend to score every week regardless of the result. Yakubu will get his fair share too, just won't be on the winning side very often.

Helgs is on pens now, JKISTHE1.

And please read what I said. Blackburn won't win many games but Yak should still get his fair share of goals as they tend to score most weeks regardless of the result.

Basically, I was saying Yak is a good bet in FPL terms

Hmm, decisons. Both have decent fixtures, though with Stoke not being Europe this week, who knows what they'll do. Plus Norwich don't keep clean sheets and concede pens, so maybe Helgs is a good bet.

This will be at the epicentre of my FPL thoughts this week.

Seriously thinking that it might be time to ditch him for a cheap 3rd striker (maybe going RVP, Bendtner, Helgusson) and getting Lamps in MF instead of Sinclair.

Right now there's more value in mid/low priced strikers than there was earlier on this season.

I just hate to see 11.3 mil benched and come on for the last 20 mins of a game which is a very real risk with him. Might be worth going the budget route and getting in lamps or something.

This sounds ludicrous but Dzeko would be the way I'd go. Leave him in your team, forget about him and get yourself a decent fifth MFer like Pilkington when no-shows occur like today. Already testing people's patience but it will be rewarded. City are spewing goals.

    Vorm
    Jones Walker Enrique
    Walters Drenthe VDV Silva
    RVP Rooney Bendtner

Subs: Given, Dyer, Simpson, De Laet

Still a horrible bench but the same team I've played this week. Think I'll stick and save 2 transfers for GW14 where one of them will be Bendtner to Hoilett.

You guys were very helpful up top, thank you! I have one more question...

    Current midfield:
    Silva DVD Ramsey Sess Dyer

    I want to do:
Silva DVD Larsson Drenthe Dyer and .5 in the bank to upgrade one of my defenders next week.

    Good transfers? Thank you.

    Need some advice here guys...

    Current team
    Krul, Vorm
    Enrique, Simpson, Vermaelen, BAE, Rangel
    VDV, Silva, Drenthe, Ramsey, Walters
    Dzeko, Ba, RVP

    1.4m in the bank

Thinking whether to swap out Ramsey or not...

    A: Ramsey > Yaya Toure
    B: Vermaelen + Rangel/BAE > Jones + Richards
    C: Save FT

Or any other advice? I could downgrade VDV get Bale and swap Ba for Ade?

i really think yaya might come good, now de jong is back. he seemed to get further forward today, and with city there'll be loads of goals. plus he's a machine that doesnt seem to need resting.

then again de jong can be rested and yaya drops back to defensive mid

Ultimate tool, but a talented one...my buddy, not a football fan, was watching and commented "You can't stare down a keeper when you scored a goal from the penalty spot! That's like a kicker starting down the d line after a freepoint is scored in american football and Kevin Durant staring down the opposing team after making a free throw." So true...such a character, Mario.

Totally different. There might be one goal in a given game. There will be 200 points in a basketball game. More like staring down a player after a dunk or dancing after a sack. Which players do.

Pretty sure you missed the point bro. It's not the quantity of goals/baskets/touchdowns, its the relatively easy setup for a point conversion. Dunks and sacks aren't easy to do, same as goals in football. Therefore, staring down a player or dancing is justified in all three of these points. A penalty? Hardly. The keeper is at a terrible disadvantage, as is a basketball hoop when no one is defending it during free throws and a goal post that's only a few yards away from the kicker for the one 'free' point. Who would stare down a d line after a kick that is considered a free point? haha
