If he’s fit, he would play. That was the thinking of Rafael Van der Vaart’s Fantasy owners after yesterday’s announcement of his availability for this afternoon’s game.
The Dutchman had trained on Thursday and overcame the hamstring strain that had kept him out of last weekend’s win at West Brom. With a home game against Bolton, Fantasy managers were licking their lips in anticipation of another big points haul as the Trotters rolled up to the Lane this afternoon.

With Jermain Defoe having played the full game against PAOK in Tottenham’s midweek Europa League defeat, it seemed likely Van der Vaart would return to the first-team; even if it was for just sixty minutes or so. As a result, plenty decided to hold on, rather than mover him on for the likes of Gareth Bale.

Today’s lineup was a bitter disappointment. Defoe held his place alongside Emmanuel Adebayor up front, with the Dutchman restricted to a thirteen minute cameo that produced nothing more than a single FPL point. Bale, on the other hand, hit the heights yet again, with a goal, assist and clean sheet in the 3-0 win- a fifth double-figure haul of the campaign see him currently sitting on 11 point, with bonus bound to come, too. Right now, he sits on 80 points, only 5 behind David Silva in the midfield rankings and, priced at 8.7, still seems a bargain, given his flourishing form.

While it’s clear Defoe offers a viable alternative to Van der Vaart in Redknapp’s mind, Bale clearly has the left wing role nailed down without any competition. A jump of 0.8 in price since gameweek 11 is indicative of his rising popularity and after today’s game, more and more may make the decision to offload Van der Vaart, with the Welshman proving a cheaper and equally efficient option in the vibrant Spurs midfield.

F*ck me. Not a single transfer or change of captain and he was only 28 points behind me before the gameweek started.

And all the countless hours I've poured into managing my team he was probably out doing all sorts of normal people things. You know, restaurants, girlfriends, that kind of stuff. Christ on a bike.

Getting a tad concerned as a Vorm and Naylor owner now. 2 goals conceded at home and 18 away.

However, when you look at who they've played at home, its arguably a selection of the worst/least attacking teams in the league. Fair enough they kept Man U to one but we all know how poor they have been going forward

Away from home they've been getting thoroughly rinsed by just about everybody

I just dont know if the home points will keep coming when the better teams head to the Liberty. But then again, I cant afford anyone more expensive so b*gger it

They're absolute bargains still and don't forget Blackburn have scored tons of goals before today.

However, they're to be rotated rather than relied upon, hence why I'm looking at a Vermaelen figure. No need to sell, just look for supplements so they can be benched.

Baines has always been the one for me (so fun to have - Disney option), but Verm and Utd have got me thinking. Don't fancy either Micah or Komp with City's form and fix and I'm still not totally sold on Jones. Just need to find those funds.

Nice work. If he can gain that goal potential, he'd be awesome, but with Spurs and City either side of Wigan it makes it a tricky one. I'm reasonably happy with my MF. I'm actually considering Yaya too. It's actually my Uncle's team that has Lamps and I'm wondering whether Mata is worth the trade.

With the five goalscorers, and general performances it's hard to tell.

Gareth Barry won man of the match inside the stadium (in a 5-1 where he didn't get an assist!)... which was probably fair, in my opinion. They won at a canter.

Any three of the five scorers, probably.

Jones can play centre back, right back, or defensive midfield; he's played them all for Utd this season, with the most appearances at right back; his versatility is a plus, as it helps him stay in the team for most games

Difficult to say if he will rise, Is on about 20% now but I imagine alot will transfer him in after this week. Is there no way of having both?

Still the 2nd highest scoring defender in the game. It's more the CS potential and occasional goal/assist threat

I'd say he'll play 5 out of every 6 games with the occasional rest, during the season. Might be less during the hectic xmas period though, but still a worthy acquisition

Kompany is nailed on and now gets the odd goal/assist too bizaarrely.

However, City have poor form and fix defensively. I think Micah may see bench time over Xmas for Zab. I may ignore Baines and look at Verm and possibly Evra for peace of mind.

I'm considering Adam for LFC cover, not Suarez. If Suarez got the BPs he deserved I'd get him instantly but too many low weeks with LFC not scoring enough compared to the other top teams- Ba/Yak e.t.c more attractive in my view.

Do any Newcastle fans 'in the know' have any clues on who is going to replace S.Taylor & Coloccini?

Surely not Perch? Whoever it is could be a bargain with the following fixtures:

    Norwich (a)
    Swansea (H)
    West Brom (H)
    Bolton (a)

Yeah possible, otherwise can't see any other options. Tough on the toon to lose both in a game.

      Its 100% Perch, been confirmed.

Without colo or saylor you want to stay away from newcastle defenders now though. We are awaiting news on colo, we won't keep any clean sheets without him.

I bought a player and forgot to put him in my side. I'm an idiot. I've persevered with Van Der Vaart while Bale carries on regardless. I've not followed through with my plan to buy Yakubu. I'm not an idiot but I've missed a rather large beat.

However, the Etihad stadium is a bloody lovely ground. A visual treat. It really is pretty damn quiet a lot of the time but that doesn't bother me anyway - however definitely noticeable.

    Roll on GW15.

Given and Kenny are my goalkeepers; Kenny injured, and now Given too

planning to bring in Krul for Given; possibly bring in Cerny (QPR backup) for Kenny, which frees up budget

should I bring in Krul right away? I have 2 free transfers

Добрый вечер! Что нового? I bring you news that the upgraded average score on FPL so far this week is 36 points.

Also a query: I have £10.2 million to upgrade Ramsey to someone who knows where the goal is. Currently have neither Chelsea nor Man Utd midfielders & attackers. Should I go for:

    a) Mata (good form, average fixtures)
    b) Nani (average form, good fixtures)?

    Спасибо!

To be fair, he's been pretty consistent so far.

I'd go for Mata, every thing good we do comes through him.
