You can forget the season of goodwill. This, like every Christmas programme, promises to be a punishing affair on the anxiety levels of the passionate Fantasy manager as much as the sinews of the Premier League footballer. We should prepare ourselves for twists and turns; some freakish points hauls, a slew of cruel injuries and unforeseen rotation.

Some will get lucky – probably the guy you’re chasing in the mini-league. At that point, we need to cut the bleating – we’ll have to roll with it and come out the other side having resisted the temptation to chase points, or “knee jerk” proven quality out of our squads. Fight the urges, there are fixtures to come in the New Year.

The nightmares could even come before Christmas. Sir Alex may just go for the experience of Ryan Giggs and the industry of Ji-Sung Park to counter the usual verve shown by Fulham in Wednesday’s Craven Cottage meeting. Roberto Mancini has declared he will make changes for the visit of Stoke – we can only speculate what he has planned to counter the Potters style, or indeed, who he will sacrifice in order to cope with their physicality.

Will Gareth Bale shake off his ankle to face Chelsea? Will players like Ledley King, Rafael Van der Vaart and Demba Ba – individuals cursed by recurrent injury problems – be able to cope with the fixture pile-up?

Then there’s the added confusion of the effects of the impending Tube strikes on the London fixtures – will our gameweek suffer? We should asses the players at risk – and consider saving transfers until we know more so we can counter the issue. With possible Boxing Day absentees, now is not the time to indulge in a “vanity transfer”.

We shouldn’t bottle our wrath for after these events. Ideally, we need to prepare for frustration and have a bench in place to absorb it. If you sitting on Ritchie De Laet or Shane Ferguson, it could be time to prioritise their exit. Now, more than ever, we need a bench lined with active players – willing to contribute and at least offer the prospect of a few points.

So, yeah, enjoy the Bond Film, The Two Ronnies and the awkward gift swapping. Just don’t bank on too many pressies from a Fantasy Football perspective – we’re all set to enjoy “restless” rather than “silent” nights.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

How much cover for United, Chelsea, Arsenal & Liverpool are you having for all of their two easy home games Gameweeks 18-19

I'm thinking of having 3 United (Evans, Nani, Rooney), 1 Arsenal (RVP), 1 Liverpool (Enrique) and 1 or, maybe 2 Chelsea (Sturridge, poss Mata).

Do you think this is enough, I hope to score well over them two weeks.

1, 2, 0. They're not the only ones with decent fixtures, hence not having a lot of them.

Man Utd have Wigan and Blackburn at home.
Arsenal have Wolves and QPR at home.
Chelsea have Villa and Fulham at home.
Liverpool have Blackburn and Newcastle at home.

        How are they not decent?

I'm not overly excited by any Liverpool attacking options and Newcastle is not an easy fixture, 2 man u defenders and an attacking player, rvp and vermaillen and mata or/and sturridge is the way to go.

Pondering on whether to get Sturridge in for Yakubu but I will see what the Yak does against Bolton first.

Quality team for this week - but I would stick Vorm in for Ruddy. I'm pretty certain Sp*rs will concede but I reckon Walker will tear Ashley a new one. Remember how Walcott got on against Cole? Toss up really, him or B Arfa

I read an article that Ben arfa is playing this week - Pardew has been 'fueling' him apparently. Breadbin - do you actually think he's terrible or just terrible in FPL terms, he's one of the most talented young players around with a very bright future. I'm unsure if he will click into gear this season but it could be too good to miss.

I'm a chelsea fan so have to stay confident and leave walker on the bench assuming we'll thrash them.

not that im confident enough to put a chelsea player in atm.

Really surprised to see most folk it seems plumping for Krul over Vorm this week

Prior to last week, Newcastle hadnt kept a clean sheet since GW9 (H to Wigan), and the last before that was GW4, and that was with the defence at full strength. They just dont keep that many clean sheets anymore

Swansea are on 4 cleanies out the last 6, and they stopped New C and Liverpool from scoring at home. Dont see why they can't do that again against Everton who are one of the lowest scoring teams in the league

    Vorm
    Simpson Enrique Jones
    Walters Drenthe Silva(v) Nani
    RVP(C) Ade Ba

    Given Brown BAE Dyer

    2.9m in bank. Thoughts on:

1 - Would you save transfer, play Walters or Brown?
    2 - Dyer--->sub 5M mid to play over walters (a norwich player)
3 - Drenthe - if you own him is he on his last chance

Feeling from the journos is that we'll get a verdict on Suarez/Evra tonight. No idea if it will be before deadline though.
Best get your bench sorted just in case.

According to The Guardian, Wes Brown might not play at QPR.

Should I swap Bale or Dyer for Drenthe - considering that Bale's going to go down in price tonight. I'd bring Bale back in (probably in Dyer's place) next week if I took him out.
