Driving home for Christmas, we present you with the festive ScoutCast. Obviously only for those without passengers – we wouldn’t want to inflict this on unsuspecting souls.

A stocking brimming with the usual merriment, the episode comes with the annual added bonus of hearing myself and Mark exchanging “ironic” gifts as an act of “goodwill” one more.

Along the way we deliberate the Robin Van Persie helpline, the revolving doors being worked by Gareth Bale and Rafael Van der Vaart and the perils of double gameweek investment.

Merry Christmas from the ScoutCast!

Come pull your Christmas cracker here.

Alternatively, stream away on the handy player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Just realised no Baps for YaYa( I don't have him)

the number of touches made by Yaya Toure. In a dominant midfield performance, Toure completed a staggering 169 passes, 107 of which were in Stoke’s half – creating 4 goalscoring opportunities with “Key Passes”. Samir Nasri and Gareth Barry ranked next for touches in the gameweek, interestingly, David Silva lagged behind, touching the ball 88 times, half as much as Toure and 65 fewer touches than Nasri – then again, Silva was preserved with just over 20 minutes to go, as City coasted.

    Madness!

Team at the moment for GW18:

    Vorm(QPR)
    Enrique(BLA) Simpson(bol) Jones(WIG) Evans(WIG)
    Bale(nor) Nani(WIG) Silva(wba)
    RVP(WOL) Ba(bol) Sturridge(FUL)
    subs - Hennessey, B.Johnson, McAuley, O'Hara.

Do you like any of these options? (I got 3.3m in the bank and 1 transfer)
    a) O'Hara > Walcott
    b) Ba > Adebayor
    c) Jones & Ba > Shawcross & Rooney (4 point hit)
    d) Jones & O'Hara > Mata & Huth (4 point hit)

Would quite like to do C myself as it's a bit more exciting but i worry that with O'Hara and B.Johnson in my midfield my squad may be stretched a little thin over this hectic period. Perhaps i should address that first as Ba is hardly a bad option to keep. Plus O'Hara looks like he'll be out for a while and i could do without his price plummeting!

      A) for me anyway man, it's a guaranteed improvement, but it's so hard to try an tear yourself away from Stoke at home even though it's just not happening. If it was me (and it's not) I'd get a cheapie Stoke till the clean sheets start coming but if your on there already then you're laughing.

Cheers peeps. I do want to keep Jones but selling him is the only real way to finance big moves elsewhere. That said i do like the idea of keeping the cash aside for Ba > Ade at a later date and just dumping O'Hara this week (no hit as well!)

I can get a midfielder for 7.0 this week and have enough for Ade the following GW. Options at that price with decent fixtures are Drenthe, Walters, Larsson, Sinclair, Sessegnon, Etherington, Richardson.

Would captain RVP and then Nani. RVP going for the record goals in a year, so will be very motivated.

    Jones Simpson Shawx Naylor Turner
    Silva Walters Ramsey VdV Dyer
    RVP Ade Ba

2FT and 0.7 in the bank, not sure what to do.

    1. Gotta get rid of Turner, possibly for Hibbert and his DGW, though Evans is tempting even with Jones.
    2. VdV should go, probably for Nani though Mata is an option, as is Bale (again, thinking DGW)
    3. Dyer should also go (injured and out of the team anyway), but all the best budget midfielders seem to play for Wigan, and they have some horrible fixtures.
    4. Ramsey has done nothing, and could be swapped for a Drenthe or similar, but is it worth the hit? Arsenal still have good fixtures...

How many times can the Ba --> Sturridge question be asked on these forums....

Surely its simple, either keep Ba or transfer to Sturridge for free, but DO NOT lose 4 points to get rid of Ba this week!

    Vorm
    Enrique, Evans, Raylor
    Nani, Silva, Ramsey, Gower
    Rooney, Ade, Morison

    Bench: Krul, Naylor, Simpson, VDV

    Bench in right order?

Plan on getting rid of VDV & Raylor next week for Bale and Kompany.

I'd do VDV > Bale this week even for a hit tbh. I can see us running riot at Norwich. Definately play Naylor over Raylor also.

VDV > Bale is good, I don't think there's any need to get in Kompany, just save the transfer next week and get rid of Raylor on your wildcard.

You probably might as well play VdV ahead of Gower? I'd imagine Rafa will either start and play most of the game or not be in the squad at all, and on that basis is most likely to score more or Gower will come on?

keep Ba, keep watching FISO with the tight margins.

Mata is more than enough coverage for a plucky Fulham. That 5-0 at the Cottage was an anomaly.

Also, if Ba is away with ACON I don't have to sit there and worry about him biting me in the bum, particularly Ba and his hat trick habits.. This season, I tend to watch all the players I used to own score well, which seems to be a recurring theme.

Yeh I figured that playing a defender above Walters is probably a sin this GW. Also Kompany does have the lowest cleansheet odds, the funny thing though is benching him seems wrong based on the fact that so many people are transferring him in this GW....

don't understand the kompany transfers tbh. As mark said in the podcast they probably won't keep a clean sheet in next three

          RMT out of 10

          Vorm
          Enrique, Evans, Simpson
          Nani, Mata, Silva, Sess
          RVP(C), Welbeck, Ba(VC)

          2.0m in the bank.

Pretty good. 8/10. Points off for Simpson (away and NEW are now leaking goals) and Welbeck (rotation risk with Chico back?)

Simpson will get 2 or 6, not a problem
I think Welbeck will get 60 mins.

I'd be amazed if Simpson got 6. Fancy Bolton to win that 3-1.

                Will Welbeck start over Chico?

Why not? Bolton aren't great defensively.

No Spurs coverage, but otherwise very good.

Sess, hey? That old bean is about as predictable as the Lottery.

            Plenty of home players 😉

No Rooney would be my only concern but that's by the by.

Got a horrible feeling about Rooney this week. Nani and Welbeck will be ample cover for it (he said hopefully).

9/10. Assume you're doing VDV -> Mata or Walters this week? Point off for insufficient MUN and ARS attacking coverage this week.... 😉

6/10. You have Nani, Ade, Ba, RVP, Silva which is great and also you probably made a sensible move with VDV. But defense is weakish and will need work soon seeing as NEW and SUN fixtures are going bad. Also I dont like Sinclair over Larsson, Walters, Drenthe.
