Driving home for Christmas, we present you with the festive ScoutCast. Obviously only for those without passengers – we wouldn’t want to inflict this on unsuspecting souls.

A stocking brimming with the usual merriment, the episode comes with the annual added bonus of hearing myself and Mark exchanging “ironic” gifts as an act of “goodwill” one more.

Along the way we deliberate the Robin Van Persie helpline, the revolving doors being worked by Gareth Bale and Rafael Van der Vaart and the perils of double gameweek investment.

    Pretty close to using my 2 FT's

    Nani IN - Silva OUT
    (Wouldn't lose value on Silva and Nani has much better fixtures)

    Sturridge IN - Ba OUT
    (Sturridge has much better fixtures plus price is going to rise massively in the next week or so)

    Anyone got any strong arguments against doing either?

          Cash plays a role in it.

          More so is the damage that not having Sturridge might do. My main rivals in my ML have him and I'm worried about him having a stormer.

          I would really love to hold off for one more week but with the massive price rise Sturridge is going to get and all my rivals having him I think I might be able to justify the hit. Do you think i would be better shipping Ade?

            I can't see selling Ade, despite away fixtures, b4 the dwg is going to be profitable over all. If you want Studge and only have 0.1 in the bank then do him now otherwise you'll bever do it. It's gutting for a hit though 🙁

            Yah, but ye should have made that decision many, many weeks ago to ditch Baines.

            I still think ye may as well play him till GW20 as you can always use WC afterwards to get rid and do a thorough revamp of your defence. He gave you a cleanie last GW so its not all bad, is it.

      Silva > Nani sounds good but you never know Nani could get rested for Park. I think Ferguson will play him cause MUN need to score a lot of goals because MC have scored a sh*t load. Nani is in tremendous form and MUN need him to do just that.

      Keep Ba for another week, his price is also going up so you are actually gaining value for him. Sell him as soon as GW18 begins for Sturridge.

            I know, I have him 🙂 I guess I'm trying to say that Ba needs to go up 0.2 for every 0.1 that Studge does. If money's tight and it fits with a long term strategy, the hit is worth it.

      Ward > Evans. Shotton is a very nice prospect cause he's playing midfield instead of Pennant. The problem is you never know if he might get rotated. Evans also has rotation risk but I think he will play next couple games.

        I've gone Nani over RVP.

        Arsenal actually haven't scored that many in recent games. In last 6 games scored 4 once, 2 twice, 1 goal three times and didn't score against City.

        The problem is RVP is involved in pretty much every goal scored there.

        Utd have a history of tanking Wigan (even though Wigan have appeared a lot better in recent weeks).

        Got to stick with my gut feeling.

          True - but Man Utd went through a streak of not scring much (only one goal per game for six or seven matches). That stopped when Wolves came to visit.

    Alright folks. 2 freebies to use and I am planning on revamping the defence. If I get rid of Baines and Barnett I have 11.9m to spend on two defenders.

    Current thinking is Enrique and Evans however one of Jones or Vermalean is very tempting!

      I have Enrique and Evans, I'd say that's not bad, but I'm not sure if Enrique is worth 5.9, though Liverpool do have one of the best defences in the league, he was a bargain at 5.0, but I'm not sure now..

      I like the idea of Verm, and you could afford Evans and Verm, he's a goal threat too 😉

          Playing your wildcard will remove any points deductions from transfers already made in the same Gameweek.

          One Wildcard can be played at any time, the January Wildcard can only be used between Gameweeks 20 and 23 (2 Jan 11:30 to 4 Feb 11:30).

          When playing a Wildcard, any saved free transfers will be lost. You will be back to the usual 1 free transfer the following Gameweek.

          I think FPL towers have done their best to confuse people over this one. They shouldn't say 'between Gameweeks 20 and 23' - just the dates would have done. They've also labelled it the 'January Wildcard' but you can play it in February. I've written a strongly-worded letter to my MP and may still sue.

          Blimey! I don't think I'm qualified to give you advice. You don't really need to do anything, do you. You're in the enviable position to do what you like. If you want to make cash then do Ba > Studge but it may be wiser to have 2 fts next week as Ba is on fire at the mo.

              You don't have the cash for Brunt > Walters, do you (I did check)?

              OK... I am doing Ba > Studge next week because it would cost me a hit but also Studge plays on the wing (just about) and Ba is numero uno. I think Man U's destruction of Fulham was a one off, like Man U v Arse or Citeh V Man U. Fulham are a lot better side than Bolton.

              That said, Studge is firing them in. That said, Ba is firing more in. Ba it is for me this week 🙂

                I have exactly the funds to do brunt to Walters. Problem is if I do that it leaves me with zero in the bank. And that will mean a hit to get studge nxt week as my selling price for ba is 7.1 and studge at the mo is 7.2.

                  So... Studge is going up to 7.3 tonight. Ba may well go up before the end of the GW... ermm... sod that, it depends on how much you want Walters and how much you care about the price rises.

    Richards (wba), Evans (WIG), Baines (sun)
    Sinclair (QPR), Walters (AVL), Silva (wba)

    I'm thinking either Baines or Richards but they are both capable of huge points. Sinclair is usually good at home and Silva is at risk of a 10 min cameo appearance... I can't decide, which one would you bench?
