Driving home for Christmas, we present you with the festive ScoutCast. Obviously only for those without passengers – we wouldn’t want to inflict this on unsuspecting souls.

A stocking brimming with the usual merriment, the episode comes with the annual added bonus of hearing myself and Mark exchanging “ironic” gifts as an act of “goodwill” one more.

Along the way we deliberate the Robin Van Persie helpline, the revolving doors being worked by Gareth Bale and Rafael Van der Vaart and the perils of double gameweek investment.

Merry Christmas from the ScoutCast!

Come pull your Christmas cracker here.

Do you guys agree that in FF terms Man City don't offer many viable options. Heavy rotation of the squad in midfield and striker options, expensive defenders & keeper with a poor clean sheet return and apart from Silva & possibly Aguero, there isn't much more to need or want in your team?

Yup. I reckon one of Silva or Aguero is enough until they hit some good fixtures. Yaya would also be useful except for ACON coming up

Still think Kompany's a solid option as he's one of three totally nailed on City players (Yaya and Hart the others) and they do keep CS, especially at home. Besides that, no attacker/midfielder outside Silva and Aguero appeals to me.

Agree. Silva is suffice. Defenders are poor value for the no of cs they are getting and the rest/rotation cuts just about everyone else out bar Gaga n Silva.

I haven't got a single player and don't feel I am losing out.

Silva's scores have been nowhere near as good as people seem to think. 55 points in the last 10 games, although two of them were as sub appearances.

Don't get me wrong, it's a good return but at the price he now is, he's not "essential".

Balotelli has 44 over the same period and is a 8.1million striker, but isn't essential.

55 points in ten weeks is excellent

Nani was the top scoring player in the game last year and he only averaged 5.2 per gameweek

People are getting a skewed view because he rarely scores massive in a week but he gives you an excellent core and if you stick with him all season you'll have reaped the rewards from probably the 2nd or 3rd highest scores this year

I'm not saying it's terrible, but people are saying you can't get by without him.

He's 10.5 million at the moment aswell. It's not worth downgrading other good solid players for chances, just to get him in (which quite a lot of people advocate).

Not really. Ba has a nice fixture and looks unstoppable. Get rid of him as soon as next transfer window opens. Get Sturridge for Chelsea cover. Silva > Walters don't really know cause Silva is Silva and Walters has nice games coming up. Would probably do it if you can use the extra cash wisely elsewhere.

You could get Vermaelen or Kompany instead of Tate with that extra cash. You would have to play the one you get. It would give you really nice depth for your bench in case someone gets rested.

Cheers. Yep given and wiki son both need to go, but have been trying to fix up other positions with my recnt transfers. Jones to Evans will get me some extra cash but I can't stand Evans as a player so my heart will probably rule my head on that one. Plus jones injury seems to be better than first feared.

Evans seems to be having a few pops at goal though. I noticed in the last gwk he had 4 goal attempts.

I'm still not understanding why ppl are paying the extra 2 mill for Jones? If Rooney goes beserk over Christmas in these fixtures, you'll have to fit him and RVP into your teams. Best to cover the bases now I feel.

    help!

    my team:

    vorm
    simpson, enrique, vermaelen, jones
    silva, bale, nani
    rvp, adebayor, ba

    kenny, walters, tiote, de laet

i have 2 free transfers and no money in the bank but no transfers really grab me... is there anything worth doing?? can take out de laet or tiote or kenny but nothing worth buying for the cash...

what about downgrading walters to sess and then upgrading simpson to evans? or is that a bit wasteful and just doing 2 transfers for the sake of it?

I'd just try and do one transfer and save one going forward.. you're quite limited as you have a solid core of players who you'll want to keep.

If you're not going to play Walters you could always downgrade him.. Drenthe ahead of the DGW is a popular option and will free-up funds.

For what it's worth I'd play Walters (or Drenthe) over Simpson this week.

He's been injured. I'd imagine he'll start whenever fit, he's been influential in the last 2 games and Bilyaletdinov is on his way out in January apparently, leaving little competition for the left side of midfield.

yeah i'll be bringing in studge after ba plays bolton then i reckon.

some good advice im getting here, nice GK alternatives from you and ipsilon above, Sorenson is definitely grabbing my fancy at the moment after the suggestion.

Was thinking of just sticking Vorm in last week and leaving him there like most are prepared to do, but sorenson is cheaper and just as easily able to grab some equal points to Vorm.

hmm toughie, think i may shove sorenson in there then, or do naylor to evans as suggested above.

I am thinking on similar lines. I had vorm since start but benched a few on his CS so have learnt hard way. Sorensen for 0.2 more than Ruddy is worth it i think. I am also tempted by Evans too (see below)

Yeah it was tough for a lot with Vorm wasn't it, me included, got rid as i got annoyed, but should of kept lol. Sorensen would be a great replace im reckoning now, but evans would offer me an alternative to jones if he doesn't play monday.

Yeah he will. He been vital for since basel game. If i get evans back defence for boxing day games will be:

              Vorm
              Jones Evans Enrique (BAE Simpson)

I am very tempted to do Brown--->Evans. What u think?

cool, i'll be keeping jones anyway then and i reckon he'll play monday too.

yep i reckon the brown to evans switch makes sense, brown wont come through with points like he has this week, whereas evans will be at the heart of a united side with great fixtures, evans surely looks more eligible, if not certain to score better than brown over christmas.

would be a great defence then that mate, but benching BAE? suppose it would make sense if evans is involved with jones and enrique, ive got to play BAE though against norwich, offers some attack also i reckon 🙂

Yes, that would be ideal with Roo's fixtures. I have a hunch that Utd are on the goal trail again. If that's the case, Rooney will score big, like the first 6 gwks.

You need to look at the bigger picture too. If you are trailing the leaders by some margin, how are you going to make some pts back?

Roo as a captaincy differential could be the answer. Good luck to yer! 😉

If not, I need to get Sturridge in tonight before his price goes up, otherwise I won't be able to afford him without selling another player.

CTC is a site that tells you the net transfers of players and predicts when their prices are going to change.

30% means that since 3am this morning, Ba's net transfers in are 30% of the way to reaching the number of transfers that would lead to another 0.1M price rise.

Also, you can do Nani to Bale for the DGW!

Taking Ade out now is a little pointless to me part. with his form and approaching dgw. Agree about Rooney. You'll have to look for other ways of getting him in.

I think Rooney might find himself back in midfield until other options are fit again. 12m is far too much for a midfielder with the point returns of a striker

    Vorm
    Enrique, Jones, Evans
    Sinclair, Bale, Valencia, Silva
    Ba, Rvp(C), Adebayor(vc)
    Subs: Krul, Brown, Jagielka, Moses

    2.4 m in bank.

    Should I do any changes?

      Interesting utd cover, different.

Sinclair --->Walters/Larsson would be my suggestion. You could easily save a FT with that team though.

Sinclair to Drenthe maybe will be my next move.

    Krul (Cerny)

    Assou-Ekotto - Jose Enrique - Brown - J Evans - R Taylor

    Mata - Bale - Walcott - Drenthe - Walters

    Aguero - Adebayor - Yak

    1.9 in the bank

    1. Aguero>Rooney
    2. Walcott>Nani, Aguero>RVP for a 4pt hit

I like Rooney myself. Could drop Mata I suppose but got a feeling he's about to score some points

    Thoughts?

I think 2, the two most inform players in the premier league at the moment imo.

With his terrible injury record, who would have thought at this stage in the season that the leading forward in minutes played is.......RvP

Come half time on Tuesday he'll already have had mroe game time than three of his previous whole seasons

Must be doing something different this year. I think there may be a new club mandate that if you tackle, or even fart on, Robin in training then you get fired

I really need help with this one, guys. Keep wilkinson, or switch to either Caulker or Shotton? Already have Vorm....
