Driving home for Christmas, we present you with the festive ScoutCast. Obviously only for those without passengers – we wouldn’t want to inflict this on unsuspecting souls.

A stocking brimming with the usual merriment, the episode comes with the annual added bonus of hearing myself and Mark exchanging “ironic” gifts as an act of “goodwill” one more.

Along the way we deliberate the Robin Van Persie helpline, the revolving doors being worked by Gareth Bale and Rafael Van der Vaart and the perils of double gameweek investment.

Merry Christmas from the ScoutCast!

Come pull your Christmas cracker here.

Alternatively, stream away on the handy player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Wot do you guys think of this for GW 18?

    Vorm
    Enrique / Kompany / Baines / BAE
    Mata / Nani(vc) / Drenthe / Ben Arfa
    RVP(c) / Adebayor

    Subs: Hennessey / Simpson / Bannan / Yak

    Got 2 FT : Already done Silva --> Nani...

    Worth 4 pt hit for Komp --> Evans + Yak --> Bellamy?

      Get Baines out of there, and use the money to get Ba/Sturridge. I know hes a DGW players, but hes a fat load of waste of space there..and funds. You have Drenthe. Thats decent for Everton cover.

        Well yeah, there will be goals, but Wigan did do alright against Chelsea and Liverpool..

        But I guess their defence is poor, I'm just going to captain RVP for the sake of it this week.

        Ba will probably score this week, so Rooney needs two goals himself to make up the hit. 5-0 against fulham and he got 6 points..

          My dilemma exactly. Everyone in my mini league will (c) rvp, have or will be getting nani and no one has Rooney. Most his ownership I reckon will be casuals from the start. Think having him is enough of a differential and if he flops cud make for a bad week. Think it's the safe sensible thing to give it rvp. Keep changing my mind tho and could come down to how drunk I get Xmas day! Lol. Rooney due a haul and he's off on one of his runs ain't he, grrrrrr

      Shotton looks short term, Baines has not justified his price tag but no point in getting rid of before the DGW. Maybe replace ShawX with a Spurs defender for the DGW. Midfield is good. I would try and upgrade Yak at some point depending on how much you have to spend.

      I still have my doubts Mata. For that price I want more return. I like Morriosn as a differential.

      Looks good. I would have Wilkinson, first sub though because i think Stoke are more likely to keep a cleanie than Newcastle, and if he doesn't play it's like you haven't put him there.

      Like the gameble on Nani captain over RVP, although i'm not taking it myself, it could pay off or backfire.

    Sorry repost from a few pages back, any ideas??

    Friedel (Hennessey)
    Kompany Jones Caulker (Simpson) (Jagielka)
    Sinclair Mata Nani (c) Silva Drenthe
    Graham Aguero (Fletcher)
    0.1 in the bank

    A) GW18 Jones to Evans
    GW19 Fletcher to Morrison/Holt
    GW 20 Sinclair to Bale

    B) GW18 No transfer
    GW19 Fletcher to Morrison/Holt
    GW 20 Sinclair to Bale, Aguero to Adebayor

    Need some Spurs coverage for DGW. Probs going to WC in GW21
    A or B? Or something else??

        Yeah I'm edging towards B as Jones seems more likely to start the closer we get to the games and Adebayor (c) could destroy GW20. Problem is I'm already unbalanced with cheap forwards and probs would have to WC GW21 coz I'd want Aguero back for Wigan.

        Need to make my mind up before rises/falls tonight!

      Ouch, Fletcher and Graham occupying 2 of your striker slots. I'd start Fletcher over Graham this week and do the following:

      GW18: Kompany -> JEvans
      GW19: Fletcher -> Sturridge
      GW19: Aguero & Sinclair -> Bale & Ade

        Yeah forward line is far too cheap but going to have to wait for WC to re-balance properly. Quite fancy Graham and Swansea at home to QPR - think it could be a comfortable home win (and especially over Fletcher away at Arsenal).

        Can't afford that I don't think, could afford it with Jones instead of Kompany. What do you think of that? Liking the Sturridge idea though...

        Hmm, I fancy him to easily outscore Brown by more than 4 over the next 3-4 GWs. As well as more likely defensive returns, he offers a much much bigger goal threat than Brown. Also, I have Westwood so not keen on doubling SUN at the back (again - yeah that hasn't really worked out for me...)

    Jarvis > Martin Petrov?

    Will leave me enough cash to bring in Evans next week, and Bolton's win against Blackburn might just be enough to give them a reasonable chance in their next 2 matches, both at home, against Newcastle and Wolves. Thoughts?

      No, he has been dropped and only came back into the team against Blackburn. I am a Bolton fan and can't see him playing some of the upcoming games, and he could easily be dropped and lose his place in the team.

        Really? You don't think Coyle will leave a winning side unchanged? Any other Bolton mids you'd recommend? Have a budget of 5.3, and only Stoke/Bolton have good-looking fixtures over the coming weeks. Only need someone as a short term punt.

          I think he might start against Newcastle, but not sure in the long term.

          M.Davies might be worth a punt but i don't really recommend any of our midfielders.

          In that price range, there isn't many good options so Petrov is one of the better ones.

          Moses, Gomez, Hoolahan, Allen all look ok options.
