It didn’t take him long, did it? Ten minutes into his return to the Emirates and Thierry Henry had already made the headlines, notching the only goal in a 1-0 FA Cup Third Round win over Leeds and helping Arsene Wenger to his 300th home win as Arsenal boss…

Back at the North London outfit on a short-term loan deal, the former Gunners skipper is due to stay until the end of February, meaning he will be available for six league games before returning to parent club New York Red Bulls.

As both Marouane Chamakh and Gervinho depart for the African Cup of Nations, Wenger’s forward options have been restricted over the next few weeks, with the final of the tournament taking place on the weekend of gameweek 25. With Arsenal also facing FA Cup and Champions League duties, Henry has already highlighted how integral he could be to their fortunes over the next couple of months.

The Statistics

Arsenal’s all-time record scorer, now with 227 goals, Henry bagged 174 in the league from a total of 254 appearances, also providing 77 assists. Following his move to Barcelona, his first couple of campaigns at the Nou Camp saw him continue to rack up the goals, with 31 in 59 games in addition to 17 assists, though a disappointing third, and final, season saw Henry cut a peripheral figure- with many of his appearances from the subs bench, he netted just 4 times in 21 games.

His first campaign in the MLS was considerably patchy. Henry played 11 times, grabbing only 2 goals for the New York Red Bulls but has returned to goalscoring ways in the season gone by. Over 26 games, the Frenchman scored 14 times and provided 4 assists.

The Prospects

After a dismal start to the campaign, Arsenal sit just a single point off fourth place as the new summer acquisitions click into place. As Wenger chases a Champions League place for the fifteenth successive season, Henry offers plenty Premier League experience in comparison to the likes of Chu Young-Park and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. With Andrei Arshavin afforded two starts since gameweek 5, it’s fair to say the Russian has done little to impress Wenger this term. A front three of Robin Van Persie, flanked by the guile and craft of Henry and the explosive pace of Theo Walcott, makes for an intriguing Arsenal front three.

As mentioned, given that Henry is available until the end of February, the six games he is eligible for are (swa, MUN, bol, BLA, sun, TOT). The first league game Gervinho and Chamakh could be available for –providing their respective national teams are eliminated at the group stages- would be the gameweek 24 match at home to Blackburn. If they progress as far as the final or third-place play-off, though, the pair will both be back for the last of those fixtures, a home clash against Spurs.

Henry has admitted today he lacks fitness, though, and is “nowhere near a 90 minute game“. Regardless, you’d expect he will have some involvement in all six, with that showdown against Harry Redknapp’s side offering the perfect chance to sign off in style. If Monday night is anything to go by, you get the feeling that the script is already written for Henry to make a significant impact before he says his goodbyes for a second time.

I know the defensive rotations very well now..But has any1 here done any research on the Best 4th/5th midfield rotation or 5th midfield/3rd striker rotation..or is it better to go with a 5th midfielder like Moses/Dyer/Mclean who will score the odd goal and always stay on the bench(bar Injury)..

well, i'd say you'd like a degree of "rotatability".

i've got walters and yakubu, and am quite pleased with FUL/WBA/NEW/SUN/QPR/SWA/AVL/wol/SUN/bol/wig/WOL/avl/EVE/NOR/ARS/WIG/BOL from now 'til the end of the season.

who should be my 1st choice replacement for jags, 4.8 or less?

    rest of defense is: walker/shotton/mcauley/jevans

currently have my sights set on anton ferdinand, but could be tempted by senderos, simpson or bardsley, but just liking QPR's fixtures and what sparky might do for the team's defensive organization.

It's pretty silly for you not to know why he's leading the poll. It's blindingly obvious. Anyone with even a slight bit of common sense can see why he would be leading. It makes sense with both fixtures and form. I didn't vote for him myself, but I can obviously see why others did.

So Morning Gurus considering all those defensive rotations on the page behind.. which one should i go for..

    A - Vorm + Schwarzer + shotton

    OR

    B - Schwarzer + Sorenson + Caulker + 0.5 in the Bank.

Both options include the same teams..

Good morning dead zoners.. I made a stupid drunken mistake and took a 4 point hit bringing in Kompany for Baines and Dempsey for Faulin... I now am on my wild card...

my wild card team is going to be something like the following

    Hart, Bogdan
    Kelly, Senderos, Simpson, Shotton, Richards
    Ramires, Bale, Dempsey, McClean, Moses
    RVP, Aguero, Rooney

Cheap GK's haven't worked out for me the first part of the year. So Bogdan is just there as Hart will play every game.

I would appreciate any advice or comments on above.. I'm pretty nailed on with it but if anyone can see any improvements it would be great if you could highlight them

Wow, that's top heavy as well!

I'd hold back from the £35m forward line until all are firing. Rooney to anyone basically allows you to get in Valencia even for the holy one.

I think you're 1 player short ie: relying on Moses/ McClean or Senderos every week. I'd try to upgrade one of them, for better balance.

Nice. I have been toying with a WC team for gw 22. Plan was to go with Rooney for gw 22/23 and then swap to Kun, but I am also coming around to going with both Kun AND Pig.

Waiting on news from Silva. Worried to sell him AGAIN, as this would be it for the year then. Won't get him back in again.

Kun/Pig gives two peno takers, but the scary thing is that Nani/Silva(231) have only scored 2 pts less than Pig/Kun(233) for 2mill less.

      Decisions decisions....

I don't like the idea of breaking your team apart for Rooney, a tactic that has been very prominent on the site since he scored two in the FA Cup.
He isn't warranting the form to fork out 12M, since GW5 that is. Having to play one of McClean or Moses each week doesn't appeal to me, but each to their own.
      Good luck JD!

            Shotton/Enrigue/Senderos(Kelly?)/Simpson/Naylor(Caulker?)
            Silva/Bale/Walters/Sezzgnon/Dempsey
            Rvp/Yak/Rooney

It's a Wc obviously so I'm not seeing it as "dismantling my team to get Rooney in"..Rooney will stay for gw 22/23 and then becomes Kun for 24-27...during this period I won't have any ManU cover(!)....

Enrigue plays every week + 2 of the cheapos....rotation is good. Mf...2 of Walters/Sezz/yak will always play at hom for the period 22-27, EXCEPT gw 24...so I'm happy.

I like it yeah, what I meant for John was he had Rooney + Aguero + RVP, which could be lethal, however Aguero/Rooney aren't showing the form like the early rounds that you could just put them in and watch the points come in.
Kelly or Senderos you reckon? I have Kelly in mine as he seems first choice but Im unsure 😕

Yeah, Senderos nearly scored in his last game. It seems he is nailed on. I do have the funds to have him instead of Kelly.

Yes those 3 seem most likely..

But I think it will be pretty hard not to start a Defense of Arsenal/Manu/Mancity every single week..

Thanks for the top work CM.

I use the scout defence season ticker. Where it is graded from dark red - dark blue, I allocate the numbers 1 - 18. Home/ away is already taken into account in the scout grading.

The idea was to double up on Silva/Kun for gw 24-27 and run the risk of not having an ManU cover for that period when they play Chel/Liv/Spurs/Nor and City have ful/villa/black/bolt....

I do however think that Rooney will outscore Kun gw 22/23.

I can actually get Bale/Silver/Valencia/Dempsey/Sezz in mf with rvp/yak/Kun up front...only just

Will mean downgrading Send to Kelly and Naylor to Caulker....problem is I won't have cash to get Walters in for Sezz...might have to downgrade Yak?

I'm coming round to the fact that I need to select on of Sezz or Walters.

What do you think of this McClean fella? MON seems to like him and he played again at the weekend (and scored) Seems like a good option at 4.5 and could be good bench fodder for that midfield if you're willing to play Yakubu each week until Ba returns. Food for thought anyway. I'm trying to find a striker for a week if Sturridge is still doubtful come deadline. Thinking either Zamora (Blackburn away) or Odemwingie (Norwich at home) both scored in the reverse fixture earlier on and seem to be decent differentials..hmm

Thing is I'm rotating Yak/Sezz/Walters. Yak will only play when at home and be first sub in the away games.Until Ba comes back.

I doubt we will get any news on Sturridge prior to the next game. It's frustrating. He did well, I bought him, he did zip,I sold him, he did well, I bought him, now injured....story of my Fpl life.

If i knew he was out I would def buy Odem for a 1 week punt. He is on peno's with Brunt out, good fixtures.

    Krul (vorm)

    Enrique, BAE, *Kelly

    Silva, Nani, Bale, *Drenthe

    RVP, Adebayor, Yakubu

(Moses, Kompany, Jagielka) 1.3 in bank, 0 free transfers.

would you take a 4 point hit to upgrade Kelly or Drenthe? who do you drop? I feel even though a hit for a defender is less desirable normally, with jags & kompany unavailable, i feel it wise to replace jags, but will listen to argument for drenthe replacement.

So far I feel Skrtel is the best choice (STK, bol, wol, then WC) but ive heard Richards as well. (wig, TOT, eve)

Getting skrtel would leave me with just enough to get sessegnon(SWA, NOR gws 22 & 23) in for drenthe next gw, unless Sessegnon rises again before Saturday deadline :(. \

OR i could get agger, decrease my attacking potential from the liverpool defender, but guarantee enough funds for Sessegnon. Getting Richards or missing out on Sess would mean a choice of 6.3 or less options. Murphy perhaps? (NEW, WBA)

    HELP!!!!!!!! Oh, and good morning.

        really? thats optimism for ya.

i just dont see fulham keeping a cleanie away to rovers, my free transfer this week was bringing in yakubu based partially on this assumption. By playing kelly, Im hedging my bets, though he has assist potential. But if kelly doesnt feature, no way to say he is truly nailed on, then i have nothing coming off the bench.

    Vorm, Sorenson
    Richards, Enrique, Caulker, Simpson, Senderos

Is it worth picking a constant selection headache (midfield) or downgrading Sess to McLean and upgrading defence?

Pretty much set on this WC team, pretty balanced.

    Sorensen - Vorm
    Evans - Senderos - Shotton - Simpson(or Will?) - Cahill
    Dempsey - Valencia - Bale - Nani - McClean
    Aguero - RVP - Sturridge

Nani in short term until status update on Silva injury..

    Thoughts?? 0.3 in Bank

"He's got the ability to have moments in his game which are really important. It's something which we needed. He's helped us in a couple of games, a lot of it has mainly been coming off the bench and helping us and at home I think he's an important player." - Moyes

      Has moments?
      Helping us at home?

This latest quote does not have me very excited about aston villa. Looking to get rid asap.

Injuries and suspensions have left my defense a mess.

With Kompany's suspension upheld and Kolo off to AFCON, is Savic at 4.6 worth a punt or could Richards move to CB with Zaba at right-back? Other option is Ciaran Clark at 4.7m.

Also is it worth keeping Kompany or should i bin him and wildcard him back in for a .1-2m "loss"(depending on how much he drops). I feel he's one of the genuine "season keepers" otherwise i won't be considering this at all.

How is this for a WC team:

    Vorm-Ruddy
    Kelly-Williamson-J. Enrique-Richards-Caulker
    Silva-Sess-Dempsey-Ben Arfa-Bale
    RVP-Sturridge-Aguero

.1 in the bank. Any suggestions on improving it? Thanks!

Surely you have a balanced enough squad to be able to rotate Tot def (espescialy if using WC), to drop a def from one of the top 3 is crazy talk.
Tottenham defence is able to keep a clean sheet against Liverpool and Arsenal.
BAE is due to rise in price so he will be staying for the time being, later upgrading to Walker who has more opportunities of an assist.

    A) Richards - Kelly - Kilgallon(SUN)

    or

    B) Cahill - Senderos - Evans

    .

Other 2 are Simpson + Shotton

If there was nobody in my mini league on here, I would have no problem posting my whole rotation document. But when my main rival brought in Tchyoyi the week he was in the scout picks i knew! The first 5 people that email me to ask for the document can have it! How about that? Maybe more if I have some free time. My email address is mjtame@gmail.com
