There was plenty logic behind the move to draft in Yakubu this week. Having been rested for the FA Cup defeat at Newcastle, the Nigerian looked primed to play a significant part in the gameweek as Blackburn went looking for a win that would take them off the bottom of the table.

The first week of the winter wildcard bore fruit to that idea. Yakubu rose by 0.3, up to 6.1 in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) pricings, as over 220,000 Fantasy managers clambered to get a piece of the action ahead of the Fulham showdown.

It seemed a sensible acquisition. Yakubu had been instrumental in Rovers’ 3 wins so far this season, grabbing braces against Arsenal and Man United, in addition to a 4 goal haul at home to Swansea. If Steve Kean’s side were to grab all three points, you’d have thought he would surely play a part.

A red card within twenty-two minutes quickly put an end to those best-laid plans. Dismissed for a reckless, studs-up challenge on Danny Murphy, Yakubu ended the gameweek on the princely score of -2 and is now set for an enforced leave of absence. He begins a three-match that puts him out of the picture until the gameweek 25 home clash with QPR and leaves Kean facing (eve, NEW, ars) with a strike force that have scored 6 goals between them all season.

With Demba Ba off on international duties and Emmanuel Adebayor unavailable for Spurs’ game against his parent club Man City, Fantasy forward lines look set for a significant shake-up over the upcoming couple of gameweeks. The irony here is that Yakubu was the main beneficiary from Ba’s trip to the African Cup of Nations- with Nigeria having failed to qualify, he offered an in-form cut-price option as a replacement for the Newcastle man.

This afternoon’s moment of folly, though, means the chance afforded was no more than a fleeting one, as schedules are once again scanned and budgets readjusted to accommodate further alternatives.

To be honest, most teams will be pretty poor this week, such is the way of the fixtures...

Cue Silva, Nani, Aguero etc. scoring about 20 points each as both games on Sunday finish 6-6.

Sess will surely out goal VAL.

he HAS to lose at least 1

after reo-coker got his assist taken away v everton for a very similar incident where he touched but it wasn't the FINAL touch.

also bale got his assit taken away from him v wba I think. So surely this has to be taken away?

The first may well stick, because the [possible] touch from Welbeck is so small. The second isn't an assist, simple as.

For me, Welbeck has to get a touch on the first one. The second bounce of the ball after Rooney's cross is close enough to the first bounce, to imply that Welbeck got a touch, forcing the ball downwards.

2 Sunderland players: Unecessary. I like the look of Morison over Fletch for the third spot. Nice differential in Gerrard. Looks solid.

On second thought, since with Hart, youre never going to play Vorm, downgrade him to Mignolet or Sorensen, and you have Caulker for SWA defensive coverage.

hart and vorm rotate though so i'll always have someone at home, and i've had vorm since week two so i don't need to downgrade him as he isn't costing me owt

i knew a comment would be made about mclean and sess but i'll usually be benching mclean, he's there just in case

not sure about sturridge (who i have too). wouldnt go with hart personally. people are going to tell you not to double up on sess and mcclean, tho it could work. they looked unlucky today

If you're going for Hart ditch Vorm.
Caulker, Simpson and Enrique are good but I think Jones is worth the extra money over Smalling and I think Cahill will be back up.
I don't like doubling on Sunderland as you will have to rely on one every week. Silva and Bale I can'f fault but Gerrard may not get enough minutes to justify his price.
      Frontline too weak

    Team:

    Vorm/Foster
    A.Cole/Simpson/Senderos/Warnock/O'Shea
    Bale/Valencia/Mata/Dempsey/Cabaye
    Van Persie/Sturridge/Yakubu

Was thinking downgrade Mata to Sessegnon as I have Sturridge
and upgrade Yakubu for 4 point hit. Is it worth it and if yes who
    should I get in?

Is anyone here a member on TotalFPL or know how to contact one of the moderators as I've been banned for no apparent reason whatsoever?

Would really like to know the reason behind this, cheers.

I'm not worried about how long I would just like an explanation really as I've done nothing to warrant being banned! Just confused really.

Well I am not sure why to keep him. Beside the Nor game we have Utd at home and 2 tough away games in Swa and Eve. And we aren't scoring a lot lately, After that the fixtures are good. but Ba the almighty will be back. Fletch. Morrsion. Helogusson also a lot cheaper then him.

        Anybody changed his mind?

I am transferring Adebayor out of my team. I have 9.5 to spend on a forward for next week. Just a 1 week punt as I will be wildcarding after this.

Any suggestions? I already have Sturridge and RVP up front.

    vorm, ruddy
cahill, richards, enrique, R taylor, Kelly
    valencia, moses, bale, mata, sess
    torres, rvp, ade

torres is just a punt for next couple weeks given the striker scarcity but he’s definetely getting better imo!
also cahill only if he moves to chelsea in time for next week

    thanks guys!!
