We should have known better. Back in Gameweek 10, when Arsenal visited Stamford Bridge we turned our backs on other heavyweight temptations and kept faith with Robin Van Persie in the Scout Picks. He repaid us with a hat-trick.

Ever since Van Persie has done more than enough to ensure that we never doubted his ability to score goals, regardless of opposition. And yet, with a trip to Liverpool and Van Persie’s niggling groin on our minds, we chose to look elsewhere this weekend. Similarly, thousands opted to ignore Van Persie and hand the armband to Sergio Aguero. True to form, the Dutchman punished us all, leaving it to Gylfi to save our Scout Picks blushes.

Of course, Van Persie latest exhibition of clinical finishing was worsened by Roberto Mancini’s decision to rest Aguero. Presumably drained by a midweek outing for Argentina, Aguero sat out his first City game since Gameweek 8 having started every league fixture since. City duly struggled to put Bolton to bed at the Etihad, throwing the kitchen sink and even Edin Dzeko at the brave Adam Bogdan in the Trotters goal. Eventually City wore them down – Balotelli finally finding his range after a catalogue of missed chances. The back four also pocketed a fourth consecutive clean sheet, although Micah Richards owners missed out again – another cruel blow dealt by the merciless Mancini.

We should perhaps be thankful – Aguero failed to show his cheeky little face – Mancini kept his ace goalscorer up his immaculately tailored sleeve to take to Lisbon on Thursday. That meant the Fantasy Premier League vice captain kicks in. For some fortunate souls, that might see Van Persie step up, others will look to Demba Ba or Clint Dempsey tomorrow. Spare a thought for those who opted for David Silva, however, Mancini dealt them double the sorrow to drown tonight. No Aguero, no Silva – there should be a phone line set up for this kind of thing.

Indeed, the fallout from all this could be significant. There’s nothing like frustration from rotation to spark the Fantasy manager’s knee into life. Those who captained Aguero will likely be so embittered, the Argentine will be unceremoniously shown the door by thousands. Wayne Rooney or a double dose of Luis Suarez will surely be lined up to replace him for Gameweek 28 – prices will be volatile for days.

With Carlos Tevez stretching sinews on the City training ground and today’s decision by Mancini likely to linger long in the memory, Aguero may struggle to win back our faith this season. Talking of which – we’ll knock back our Van Persie medicine with a pint or two and hope it helps us remember never to doubt him again. Punishing stuff.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Disaster yesterday with Mankinis tinkering. Moses 1 pointer added insult.

Played my WC last night in anger. Looking for some .2 rises but not much chance I reckon.

Plenty of tinkering for next week but atm i have:

    Krul Bogdan
    Simpson JEvans JEnrique Kelly McAuley
    Yaya Bale Nani Siggy Morrison
    RVP Rooney Ade

Big move from CIty to United players......
Not getting caught up in DGW messing.... they are tough games.

Only others I would consider are Rio, Ridgewell, Caulker.....

    thoughts?

Only silver lining from yesterday is my opponent in Members cup also had Ageuro and Silva as C and VC... im still in with a shout!

When the Mrs says she's changed the baby and 20 minutes later he's soaked through from at least 2 massive wees, and the little man is sulking from 5-7am due to an upset tummy because he wasn't burped. Seeing as a man is always wrong, how can I be in the right unless I write this here? Thanks for listening 😀

Funny how herd mentality means everyone pronounces that

    "Skrtel better option than Enrique"

It the latest forum mantra , but how many people have really looked into it? Just because everyone says it , dosent make it true. Enrique comes at a decent discount , but because he has been quiet for a few weeks hes passed over.

Skyrtl has scored .3 more per game , so if you had him for 10 matches you could expect an extra 3 points. Is that worth paying an extra .4 for?

Who knows , but at least i have actual looked into it , not like may shouting 'get skrtel in"

I've seen every Liverpool game this season - for me Enrique doesn't deliver a great final ball currently; he offers some attacking threat but too often makes a run down the touchline and lays the ball back for someone else to cross. He also seems to get the defender nose-bleed syndrome - looks fantastic bombing down the wing, but as soon as he gets near the opposition's penalty area, his decision-making goes AWOL.

Skrtel? Well, he's always up for corners AND he used to be a striker before he became a central defender.

In short, I'm bringing Skrtel in this week!

I looked into it and came to the conclusion that skrtel is the best choice. He offers security of starts, goal threat and is cheaper than Glen Johnson.

Glen Johnson offers better chance of bonus during tight matches and is also more attacking, but is also more injury prone. No guarantees that he will actually play both on the forthcoming double.

Enrique's crossing stats are off the chart....only problem is that most of them fail to meet a target, which indicates his craft suffers from poor front players. Its not Enrique's fault, but until Liverpool's strikers stop hitting the woodwork (suarez), prance about in midfield (Carroll) then Skrtel remains the best choice.

And regarding the BAE and Walker debate. I remember that and went for BAE because I looked at the members areas stats and BAE was cheaper and offered more threat. Turns out that research paid off as BAE has been one of my most consistent performers.

I'm hoping my research pays off re Skrtel.

...although there is a caveat to any Liverpool defender at the moment, a big old one called Carragher. With Agger out and Carragher (passed his prime) in those clean sheets will be harder to come by.

this double is really tough. I may just stick with Skrtel and invest in Man Utd instead. Do not want to be saddled with loads of 2pt players.

          Got me thinking though:

          5.
          Cahill to Enrique
          Walters to Morrison
          Augero to Rooney

Would you take a 4 point hit to bring in Rooney and Nani for Dempsey and Aguero after this GW? If not, which would you do first?

Also, who would you start next GW out of Siggy (Home to City) and McClean (Home to Liverpool)??

    Cheers!

Sigurdsson. He has played brilliantly for a few weeks now, I think last night was a glimpse of what to come.

For what it's worth, I think Swansea will challenge the midfield domination of City.

I was at your ground for the Spurs game earlier in the season. Are you one of the ones in the Jack Walker stand? Every other Blackburn fan seemed to need a sense of perspective. No enjoyment, just getting depressed over a game of football. The Jack Walker stand was quite nice though, glad I got to sit with that part of the crowd.

Jokes asaide (and there are many)... Micah Richards has not started in MCFC last 3 games, and only played 1min in the first one of them 3.

Yes, I am annoyed (Very) that he's not featurin but this is starting to seem a little odd given he played for England, his form is excellent and doesnt seem to be injured??!!

Has he fallen out with Mancini?

Even FPL have marked him now with reason not playing 'Unknown' !!!!?!?

    Any ideas?

Jonty (and anyone else who wishes to chip in), some advice please

    My current team for GW28

    Richards, Taiwo, Evans

    Bale, Silva, Dempsey. McLean

    Ba, Aguero, RvP

Have 2.1 in bank and 2 FTs

Plan on Aguero and Richards ➡ Rooney and Skrtrel

any reason not do get Rooney in (am thinking of WBA's form) and is it worth shipping out Taiwo for a 4 point hit, and if so for who? Cahill. ShawX? Ridgewell? (I own Evans)

They are2 good and wise trades.

But you could keep Aguero v Swans (no harm), as WBA are form team but... I am doing similar trades but losing Shawcross.

2 LFC players enough for DGW. I am avoiding Everton like hell after last time !!!

Do it . I think Rooney is key over the coming weeks if he can stay fit. Skrtel is the best pool def option and liverpool defence full stop is probably the only she option. There is the option to get Suarez this week for the double and captain him then ensure you have enough to ditch him for Rooney the week after but suarez looks like a whole bunch of 2pts at the mo.

I have skrtel and will prob get Rooney in plus a cheap mid (4.8) with my 2 frees. Controversially I'm considering ditching demp. He's hopeless away. Great at home. Need much more consistency for that price.
