A breathless day. City’s late salvo may have saved face but the 3-3 Etihad draw with Sunderland loosens their grip further, priming United to take advantage in Monday night’s Ewood encounter.

Fantasy managers will have a keen interest. For the second Gameweek running, Wayne Rooney will take to the field sporting the captaincy for some, needing just a single goal to outscore Robin Van Persie. Just like City’s faltering title aspirations, the Fantasy manager’s unshakable faith in the Arsenal skipper is beginning to waver.

Van Persie came away from a bitterly disappointing 2-1 defeat to relegation threatened QPR with just an assist. The Dutchman has now gone three league matches without a goal for the first time this season. By his standards, that’s a drought.

Clint Dempsey’s goal and assist return, with the woodwork denying him a further haul, acts as an immediate comparison from today’s action. Should Rooney fetch significant returns on Monday night, we could see a significant shift in favour away from Van Persie for the Gameweek 32 captaincy.

The scene was already set for such a move. Arsenal take on City at the Emirates – Rooney will face QPR at Old Trafford. On paper, that strongly favours the United man, although given today’s results, it’s clear that the formbook can almost be shredded at this stage of the season.

The Rooney vs Van Persie battle rumbles on against a backdrop of unpredictable results; it will likely run until Gameweek 38, breaking only for the double fixtures in Gameweek 36.

A ready-made differential with some potential for those chasing a mini-league deficit, we’ve yet to see Rooney capitalise on Van Persie’s recent slips. In his last four starts, Rooney has outscored Van Persie by a total of just four points – Gameweek 28 saw Rooney fetch 13 points to the Arsenal man’s 8 – the biggest swing since the captaincy battle kicked in. Monday night is a great opportunity for a bigger gap to open; for those who transferred their allegiances early to reap the rewards for such a risk.

After Monday’s modest showing against Fulham, another tepid display from Rooney will make things interesting going into next weekend. While Rooney will likely be favoured based on fixtures, it’s hard to imagine that Van Persie’s blip will be extended to four matches. Our confidence may have slipped further after today, but the call to take the armband from the imperious Dutchman is still one that demands nerves of steel.

Those protecting a lead would seem more likely to cling to the comfort that Van Persie brings – those chasing will surely look to Rooney to help them take advantage. It’s a delicious little scenario that keeps the Fantasy game interesting, even if City seem intent on making the Premier League title race a formality.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

      finally a new page! haha

you could do shotton to kelly and play him.

I might get rid of suarez. maybe bring in balo. could be a nice punt and will have a game in 34....

Similar team to you with similar advice.

Dreading the Rooney performance with my choice of RVP as captain. Not sure about this Torres bandwagon. I was starting to think the man had lost it for good, and as a leicester fan I can tell you getting two past us is not very hard!

At the minute, my team stands as follows:

      Vorm

Cahill - Enrique - Evans (Caulker, De Laet - I know, it's a disaster still having him at 3.7 and utd player)

Sess - Walcott - Bale - Silva (Ferguson)
      Balotelli - RVP (c) - Rooney (Blake)

Was going to swap Silva for Demps but Fulham are rubbish away. Can anyone suggest alternatives (can't put Valencia in as my competitor just stuck him in, feels a bit sly!)

Btw, what are everyone's views on taking players your opponents in mini-leagues have. I'm running away with it in one league, but I have one guy 200 pts or so below me claiming I always put players in after he does. In all honesty I don't even look at that league any more, but I don't like the premise of "claiming" players anyway. If a player does well and you think he will do in, then you put him in regardless no?

i would try to do ferguson to siggy and de laet to kelly. then you could bring in valencia later if you want.

i dont think it really matters. unless the league is set up so that only one person can have a player at a time. otherwise i think that idea is very silly. that'd be like if we were in a minileague and i got rvp for his first good week and then said since I have him you can get him.... i mean cmon think about it. plus what if I was always one step ahead and got all the good and form players. then you'd be left with a kind of crappy team... that guys logic doesn't really make sense so don't worry about it and just get the best players you can. plus it isn't just about the minileague and you might even be in other minileagues so yeahh dont worry about what he says

You only have 9 players for GW34 right now...

My only advice would be to bring someone in this week who has a GW34 fixture, and decent immediate fixtures on the run up to it...

      Skrtel > Verm
      Dempsey > Sess

Both decent options IMO, and you could even just do one, save the other for next week...

Care to help a dear lad out? Current team:

      Vorm-Sorensen
      Evans-Verm-Komp-Caulker-Williamson
      Bale-Demps-Valencia-Siggy-McClean

Save transfer this week? Bring in Balo? Not sure what to do for coming weeks..
Bring in Walcott for GW33? Or keep demps for wigan home and DGW?
Worth bringing in Sess for GW34??

Cabn you do walcott in gw 33 then back to demps gw 34? might be what im doing... and bas a funny one, i got in ade but tbh balo didnt even cross my mind, which i now regret. seems like a good shout as is the penalty king.

I did Skrtl > Cahill about 3 hours before the DGWs were announced. Poor decision in hindsight as I wouldn't have done it had I known. I'd probably have done Skrtl > Kompany instead, which would have earned only 1 point but would have been better for the next 3 weeks, I imagine. Who know, maybe City will continue to struggle and Cahill will score and keep a clean sheet against Wigan.
It seems so difficult to predict anything at the moment, except that Wolves are going down.

    Vorm

For the DGW I'll have Krul, BAE, Bale, Cisse, Terry and most probably Mata.

No Liverpool coverage at all might hurt esp as my H2H opponent has Suarez and Enrique.

So forgetting gw34, how many dgw players are people looking to field gw36... Without mass hits.

I am hoping 8. For maybe 4pts hit

A little ticked off that the Fulham cleanie was snatched away, wouldve made for a nice extra 4 points. Team for next week guys.

    1FT, 2.2 in the bank.

    Anything you would change?

    Vorm.
    Caulker. Evans. Vermaelen.
    Mata. Bale. Valencia. Sigurdsson
    Rooney. RVP. Holt.

    Subs: Schwarzer. Dempsey. Simpson. Shotton.

          sess or siggy?
my plan is to bring in one of those this GW/next, then get dempsey back by walcott in GW35, for wigan match, and dgw.

hey the fixtures for bolton and avl are pretty decent in gw35 so it could be atleast 6-8 pts per player. I already have bodgan, wheater, ryo. And I will have a free transfer in gw33, with which I am confused whether to get a player like verm (with 2 excellent fixtures and then out of my team) or player from avl (STO, mun, dgw).
So I am still in decision mode.

I think 2 or 3 players total combined from bolton and villa is definitely a max! sure they've got a decent dgw but its still bolton and aston villa we are talking about... and you prolly wont really want them for the week after.

We do have a PLS (premier league soccer) from next year where pires, cannavaro will play (the good old retired players). It's a decent start. Btw hernan crespo was auctioned at the highest price from these set of players for $840,000 for which he will play for only 1.5 months in India.

same.. the funny thing is my options were baines/verm.. and i chose verm since baines is supposedly missin gw 34.. and verm gets 0!! meanin my whole reason for goin him over baines got nullified 🙂

got mclean, so sessegnon aint that temptin.. and walcott more explosive than toure.. and i aint goin budget no more as the funds burnin a hole in my pocket so might as well go for the more expensive luxury buy that is walcot.. Consensus is to get rid of Dempsey if possible though right in order to field 11 for GW 34?

ba to balo or another forward with a good fixture for 34 (though probably save this for a week or two)
and dempsey to walcott could work but it depends how much you'd lose on dempsey if you wanted him back after gw 34...
you could also do mcclean to walcott. and then maybe dempsey to sess for gw 34

Balotelli vs top teams: utd 9pts, ARS 7pts, che 8pts, TOT 4pts(26mins).

This guy clearly likes to play in important matches and leave his mark.

Anyone interested? For the low price of 8.0 you can now get him in your fantasy teams! 😉

Captained demps this week, still not quite happy. Did Shotton - > to shawX which was not good move. Noticed later that shawx has 9 yellows, and knew they would concede against Wigan. This all leads to my poor decision to take shotton in to my wc team earlier. Live learn and I guess.

Walcott instead of Siggy, especially when Arsenal are at home or Walcott up against LB's that can't run.

You could always play Siggy and bench Dempsey when Fulham are away - Dempsey hasn't scored a goal away from home in 2012...

            HI guys.

I'm really tempted to stick in Valencia for GW34, but I know some of the players below in one league (despite being 100+ behind) will complain as they put him in the week earlier, and we have similarish teams now. I really only care about a player in another league now, but is this sort of play 'ungentlemanlike'? I can't think of any other options at the moment better than Val!

Well this is my thinking. I've had a real late surge in recent weeks and find myself positioned 6,000 and something. So i've been spending all day studying GWs. Can't decide what to do with Silva, the lack of options for GW34 (my subs don't play) and keeping the faith in Balotelli.

              Ba -> Bendtner
              McClean -> Sess

Feels so good to finally have the Sess. Great fixtures and he's at the heart of everything Sunderland do.

Don't have any Chelsea players for DGW, but will draft some in closer to the date.

              Team for GW32

              Vorm, Migs
              Caulker, Jevans, Verm, BAE, Simpson
Bale, Sess, Walcott, Siggy, Valencia (vc)
              RVP, Rpig (c), Nicky B

Good to go? May captain RVP due to his habit of scoring against the big teams (especially at home).

              Good morning FFS!

Priority of this week seems to be the preparation for some missing games in Gw34 and Sunderland assets seem most popular. 🙂

Those in "..." will have no game on Gw34. Plan is to replace Kelly, Suarez, and one MF.
Who would you replace to get Sessegnon in the team now? Dempsey?

              Vorm - "Schwarzer"
              Vermaelen - Evans - "BAE" - "Kelly" - "Simpson"
              Valencia - Walcott - Siggy - "Dempsey" - "Bale"

I usually do manage to get stuck down here. 🙄

                  How are you Doosra? 🙂

-ish. Slight back problems - that's why I'm up! 🙂

Hope you are a bit better! 🙂

I think it could be really close if Newcastle-Liverpool becomes a high scoring affair. In fact if that happens, there is no way I am no winning. I am rather hoping Fuzzy beats Archie, then we can both qualify.

I've been a bit lax and not kept up with everyone, so will check it all out this evening.
