From desperation comes inspiration. If, as Sir Alex intimated, Roberto Mancini’s decision to allow Carlos Tevez back into the fold at Man City really was a last-ditch attempt to revive fortunes, there’s little doubt that it’s had the desired affect. Ferguson will be fidgeting uncomfortably having watched Tevez almost single handedly turn City back into a goal machine in the last two matches, knowing that they’re on a collision course on April 30.

For Fantasy managers, today’s hat-trick, capped with a cheeky assist for the revived Sergio Aguero, offered a stark reminder of the scoring power that Tevez brings. He started the season as a 12.0 player in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, having fired 21 goals and six assists last term – Tevez was and still is a Fantasy heavy-hitter.

Norwich felt the full force this afternoon as the Argentine inspired City, having re-ignited Mancini’s side in midweek in the 4-0 win over West Brom. Suddenly, having recently struggled for a cutting edge, particularly away from home, City are a free flowing attacking force once again. Aguero’s brace of goals today were his first league strikes away from the Etihad since that win at Old Trafford. With four in two matches, he’s now firmly back on the radar and could upset what looked like an established front three template of Van Persie/Rooney/Cisse for the remaining Gameweeks.

Arguably Tevez makes a bigger claim for our attention. We took a punt on him over Aguero in the Scout Picks having seen his statistics and form in his recent cameos and knowing his quality home and away. Tevez has come back and, once again, looked like scoring and setting up goals: today that came to fruition.

The Fantasy prospects of both Tevez and Aguero now, ironically, rest with United and the title race. A slip against Villa tomorrow looks unlikely but with City flexing their muscles in such intimidating style, the pressure on United has increased. Realistically, City will go to a beleaguered Wolves next weekend hoping that a stubborn Everton side can recover from today’s FA Cup disappointment and provide an awkward obstacle at Old Trafford. Then it’s all down to the clash at the Etihad that follows.

City need to stay in touch for Fantasy managers to invest with confidence – to sacrifice a double Gameweek transfer for either Tevez or Aguero for the Gameweek 36 trip to Molineux would be a brave move – a break from the best laid plans. However, as today demonstrated, Aguero’s form has moved up a gear and the talent of Tevez looks to have been the catalyst. Together they could yet play a major part in our Fantasy seasons and a title race which appears to be far from over.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

      Walcott in great form though.
Depending on how Valencia performs tomorrow i may well sell him for Demps.
I'll be short by 0.1 so i will have to sell the mighty Vorm and bring in Given who has Sun and Bolton both at home.
      It might just pay off

Right folks looking for a one week punt before I wildcard next week. My XI atm is

    Given
    Evans, Kompany, Kelly
    Gylfi, Dempsey, Valencia, Sessegnon
    Rooney, Aguero, RVP

    Vermaelen, McClean, Simpson

I'm thinking Sessegnon out for Ireland, N'Zogbia or Petrov. Or maybe double up on Villa defence and buy Collins.
    Suggestions welcome

The way Sunderland played today, you'd have to fancy Villa's CS chances next week for at least one of their double. That said, I've brought Petrov into my WC team just now. Bolton can't afford to rotate much I would think.

Now that Everton are out of the cup my wildcard transfer thinking is:

Definitely buy Baines for dgw. Maybe go for a second Everton option since they've nice GW 37 & 38 fixtures.
Definitely keep Dempsey since he'll be playing a rested Pool team. Maybe even keep Kelly.
Avoid Liverpool completely. They'll rest key players, theyve difficult finals games and well... they're Liverpool 😉
Stoke are slightly less appealing now that Everton are out. Maybe only go for Huth if any.

If Chelsea win tomorrow avoid their players entirely apart from buying Cech and load up on 3 Spurs players. And vice versa should Spurs win tomorrow with Friedel.

      like that thinking

I am looking at Begovic over Huth (for reasons of cash)

Jelavic worth a go for me, nailed on for both games now as well, as has shown his quality. Also seems to take some fks from Baines.

Still think it's worth having Bale even if Spurs win, and not convinced having any Chelsea is worthwhile either way, but a pretty good summary I'd say.

Shawx over Huth for me just because I already own him. Baines is essential, think I'll got for Pineear as second Everton coverage, would be Jelly if I had more room in my forwards.

So Moses to Ireland would not be a good idea? He does not have Yaya, so kind of want to keep...! What about Richards and Rooney out, for Dempsey and some cheap dgw defender?

I'm sure loads of you are in the position I am: wanting to bring in one of Aguero or Tevez, and needing to decide before their respective prices rocket. Who do you think is the better pick, and why? Want to get enough reasons together to make an informed decision.

Also, can anyone guess who'll be on penalties? I'd say Tevez, he was before he went on holiday, but then Aguero was the back-up for the banned Balotelli.

    Cheers lads!

      congats dude

as a man U fan who has lived in the Pool I wanted Everton to win, but I congratulate your boys on a good win.

On the upside that result means 2 things.

      1) Baines and Jelavic nailed on for both DGW games, making them both worth owning

      2) With the Fulham game being the midweek before the final, chance of a weakend Pool side, meaning Clint could run riot/

      Who did you captain Dan.

    WC activated.

Team for DGW (assuming Chelsea win tomorrow) would look like:

    Bogdan
    Baines Simpson BAE
Petrov Bale Dempsey HBA(or maybe Pienaar)
    Adebayor Cisse

leaving me the conundrum of whether to bench Siggy (WOL) or RVP (sto).
