Just one result, but today’s outcome at the Emirates couldn’t have set up the season climax any better.

In many ways the 3-3 draw typified the season for Arsenal. Robin Van Persie again delivered – his brace of goals taking him to 30 this term – an outstanding return for a player who, for the first time, has enjoyed a Premier League season uninterrupted by injury. But, once again, the Dutchman’s efforts weren’t enough, as the Gunners slipped to a late equaliser and were left frustrated by another spirited Norwich display.

Arsenal now sit just two points ahead of Spurs and Newcastle in third – leaving the door ajar for the pursuing pair, making their meetings with Villa and City all the more crucial.

It’s beautifully poised. While those without Van Persie will have been perturbed by only his second double figure return in ten Gameweeks, the result does at least ensure that Spurs and Newcastle will go into Sunday’s games buoyed by the opportunity presented them. Those who placed their armband on the Dutchman will settle down tomorrow with the comfort of a twenty-point cushion. Those who looked to Wayne Rooney will at least have renewed hope that Newcastle will go at City, perhaps setting up a Old Trafford goal fest just a few hours later. Arsenal’s role in this scenario was perhaps a minor one, but their failure to earn a victory has undoubtedly added further incentive for Alan Pardew’s men, making City’s path to the title that little bit more treacherous.

It also ensures that the battle for third will go to the end. Regardless of how Spurs and Newcastle fare on Sunday, both will go into Gameweek 38 contesting for the precious Champions League places. The Gunners will need to win at West Brom, similarly Spurs and Newcastle will have extra motivation to earn three points against Fulham and Everton respectively.

For Fantasy managers, that’s a dream scenario. With our squads full of assets from both clubs following the double Gameweek, we can now be content that the likes of Gareth Bale, Rafael Van der Vaart and Papiss Cisse will be fully motivated to the final whistle.

Then there’s Van Persie. He’ll go to the Hawthorns looking to push his side over the line – one last effort from a player who has undoubtedly emerged as this season’s star asset. Once done, we’re then reliant on Arsene Wenger’s ability to retain his services.

Arsenal’s failings ensured that our season went to the last – we can only wonder if they’ll also bring an end to Van Persie’s career at the Emirates.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

My ML rival has been trailing behind me by as close as 10 pts and by max 60 pts. This has gone on for about two-thirds of this season.. With RvPs brace my lead has again stretched to 52.. It must be so frustrating for him.. Hehe 🙂

I know it's a bit early but i'm already looking forward to next season.. Quick question:

When does the FF site allow you to start building your team for next season? Is it like a week before the first game in August?

Let's skip to the summer transfer window -:
    a) Which club do you reckon will have the best transfers and take a blind guess of who they may be?
    b) The club with the worst transfers?
    c) Which club will have the maximum net spending in the transfer window?

I am talking about only the premier league clubs...

        My answers-:
        a) I honestly believe that if Spurs can secure the CL place, they may very well have the best transfers this year. (Vertonghen, maybe & hopefully Hazard, some good striker - Remy....)
        b) Liverpool again...They are on a streak
        c) Man Utd - It is high time that they sign one big star

They are exactly the same as yours

If Utd. finish the season empty handed I think they may go transfer crazy.

They can't keep wheeling out Giggs and Scholes and the young mids have promise but they aren't anywhere near yet.

Liverpool will throw money at dross again trying to convince themselves they are a top team.

Spurs have good finances and being a London club in the CL is a big draw (Arsenal won't spend and Chelsea have to balance the books)

How many players do City need that they would go on spending without selling first? I guess they will offload quite a few this season and from that money that they recoup, they will be able to navigate through the transfer window. So net spend should not be city.

Exactly if something like that happens (BTW I do not see Dzeko leaving) , City would surely have earned enough to buy Higuain from the sales of Dzeko and Balotelli. So net spend in this scenario would be a profit.

    Wigan - Moses
    Man City - Augero
    Man U - Rooney
    Ars - RVP

QPR will park the bus and occasional counter, a tie for them is good enough to stay up and its their only hope against a man city team needing a win - Advantage Man City Defense. Mancini if he grabs the lead, I will assume he will be very cautious to not lose it and so defensive assets are way to go.

If wigan beat Blackburn Tomorrow, they stay up with nothing to play for so wait to see tomorrow result.

If Blackburn win, their only hope of staying up will be to score many goals at Chelsea. If Chelsea Win this GW, then they can still make 4th if neither Newcastle or tottenham dont win next Gw(A tie is not enough for either.) So Dream scenario would be Chelsea win this GW and blackburn win by 1 goal tomorrow. leaving them 4 behind wigan in goal differential. If that happens Blackburn need to beat chelsea by at least 3 the last gw and hope wigan lose to wolves. That game under those circumstances could end up a huge goal fest for chelsea. Also will keep Moses motivation up for final GW.

Everton and Fulham have nothing to play for and they know what their opponents need to do. They can sit back and pick and chose their moments and I can definitely see either one of them squeaking a tie and perhaps even a win, so I would somewhat stay away from overloading on any Tottenham or Newcastle assets.

Man United can only hope for Man City to Drop points and so I dont expect them to get too ambitious away as making a mistake that can drop points can hurt them much worse than 5 goals can help them. Again, I think defnsive assets are worth a go and only Rooney attack wise.

Lastly, Arsenal need a win - RVP is essential - may be his last game as a gunner, can surpass henry 30 goal record for arsenal and ronaldo and shearer record of 31 in a 38 game season. Expect Wenger to tighten things up as well so vermaelen could be a good shout.
