This is it, then. The final Gameweek of the 2011/12 season. The Scout Picks Selection Committee have knocked their heads together for one last time before our thoughts turn to Euro 2012 next month. We’ve carefully picked through the options in the Chelsea squad, backed City big time and even found room for our Victor, as Wigan take on relegated Wolves…

Ali Al-Habsi gets the nod between the posts ahead of Wigan’s home clash with Wolves. The Latics welcome the relegated midlanders to the DW with a strong home defensive record – Roberto Martinez’s side have returned three back-to-back clean sheets in front of their own fans, with Stoke, United and Newcastle all failing to score. The visitors, on the other hand, have failed to find the net in four of the last five Gameweeks, suggesting a clean sheet is on the cards for the Latics this upcoming Sunday.

We’ve opted for the security of Vincent Kompany as City go hunting for the title. While Gael Clichy has caught the eye with three assists in the last four and Pablo Zabaleta has impressed without quite returning the Fantasy points, Roberto Mancini’s penchant for full-back rotation has us thinking twice over their selection, with Aleksandar Kolarov and Micah Richards waiting in the wings. Kompany’s guaranteed starts win us over, then, and with four clean sheets in his last five and a 14 point haul in his previous home game, the City skipper has the edge.

John Terry’s suspension from the upcoming Champions League Final makes the Chelsea skipper a nailed-on candidate ahead of the visit of Blackburn. With David Luiz and Gary Cahill both ruled out of the Rovers clash, Roberto Di Matteo’s central defensive options are particularly threadbare right now. Steve Kean’s strugglers have scored just one goal in their last four on the road and, with Terry grabbing five goals from the back already this term, the potential of points at both ends of the pitch looks promising.

We’ve called up Kyle Walker as the final defender ahead of Fulham’s visit to the Lane. The Cottagers have scored just four goals in their last five road trips and this afternoon’s news of Clint Dempsey’s absence certainly enhances the right-back’s chances of a clean sheet on Sunday. Harry Redknapp’s side need a win to stand any chance of overhauling Arsenal in third, with Walker’s attacking thrust from the right flank likely to torment Martin Jol’s men throughout.

We’ll finish the season how we started by backing Victor Moses once again. With their top-flight safety now secure, Wigan have a pressure-free game against basement-dwellers Wolves to look forward to at the DW. Moses has produced attacking returns in three of his last four home fixtures, with the most recent being a two goal, 16 point FPL haul against Newcastle. With Wolves shipping 15 goals in six away matches under Terry Connor, Victor’s chances of an end of season flourish could hardly look more appealing.

With so much uncertainty surrounding the Chelsea lineup – Juan Mata, for example, has started just one of their last five league games – Ramires seems a solid pick for the visit of Blackburn. Like Terry, his suspension for the Bayern game suggests the 7.0 priced midfielder is a likely starter against Steve Kean’s beleaguered side and, with a goal and assist in the last three Gameweeks, he’s been in decent attacking form of late. His recent exploits have clearly caught the eye of Fantasy managers; so far, he’s the most transferred-in player from Roberto Di Matteo’s side, with nearly 8,000 snapping up his services.

Loan signing Gylfi Sigurdsson is afforded the chance to sign off in style as Liverpool roll up to the Liberty Stadium. The Icelandic international plays his final game of a hugely successful spell at Swansea and has impressed in front of his own fans of late – Sigurdsson has picked up 19 points over his last couple of home encounters and, up against a side with a single clean sheet in their last six on the road, looks poised to produce the goods yet again.

With a goal in each of his last three home starts, Rafael Van der Vaart is an obvious choice. The Dutchman has also picked up an assist and eight bonus points over those fixtures, averaging over 10 points per game – clearly, his form makes him a strong armband option as Spurs go hunting for a crucial victory in the London derby with Fulham. With just two clean sheets in their last ten Gameweeks, the Cottagers may be set for a difficult time this Sunday afternoon.

Robin Van Persie will be desperate to sour Roy Hodgson’s final match in charge of West Brom this weekend. A victory would ensure third place for Arsenal and clinch qualification for the Champions League; though the Gunners’ task looks far from straightforward , with the Baggies producing five clean sheets in their last six at the Hawthorns, if there’s one man who is more than capable of spoiling the party, it’s Van Persie.

It’s little wonder that Sergio Aguero is the runaway leader in the Captain Poll thus far. The Argentine has notched 15 of his 22 goals at the Etihad Stadium, with six lots of double figures also produced at home. Sunday’s game with QPR offers Aguero the perfect platform to fire his side to the title and, with QPR arriving with the worst away record in the league, the summer signing from Atletico Madrid has already been transferred in by over 30,000 Fantasy managers prior to Sunday’s deadline.

Fernando Torres vindicated our Scout Picks faith in Gameweek 36 with a hat-trick against QPR and we’re turning to the Spaniard once again to see out the season. With Didier Drogba continuing to be rested for cup competitions, Torres has played every minute of Chelsea’s last five Gameweeks – up against a Blackburn side with the worst record on the road for goals against, he could have a field day against the relegated Lancashire outfit.

Onto the subs, then, and it’s time for a punt. Ryan Bennett has played every minute of Norwich’s last seven matches and welcomes goal-shy Aston Villa to Carrow Road. The visitors have scored just two goals in their last six on the road and, priced at a mere 4.0, Bennett offers a cut-price route into a backline that looks a strong bet for a clean sheet as Paul Lambert’s side look to end the season in style.

Martin Petrov is next up, with a trip to Stoke vital to Bolton’s chances of survival. If City beat QPR, a win at the Britannia will clinch the Trotters’ survival and a look at the Bulgarian’s recent form highlights just how crucial he will be this Sunday. With two goals, three assists and seven bonus points in his last five, and with spot-kick duties also in the bag, Petrov’s performance against the Potters could well be the difference between Premier League and Championship football for Bolton next season.

The final place goes to Grant Holt. Paul Lambert’s switch to a 4-3-1-2 at Arsenal last week saw Holt grab his 14th of the season as the Canaries shared the spoils in a six-goal thriller. With only the top six scoring more often this term, there’s plenty potential amongst the Carrow Road squad and with Villa returning just two clean sheets in their last nine, Holt looks primed to add to his impressive goal haul once again this coming weekend.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Repost from bottom of last page:
    Cech
    Verm, Walker, Jags
    Bale, VDV, Moses, Pienaar
    RVP, Jelly, Cisse
    SUBS: Bogdan, Huth, Figueroa, Demps
Winning my mini-league by 20 points and my rival has made a 4 pt hit. I have 0.3 in the bank and I am thinking of a 4pter for Demps ➡ Petrov etc and Cisse ➡ Aguero. But I think my rival has gambled on Torres and Ramires so is it worth marking Torres and/or Ramires, taking a hit for Aguero, or just Demps ➡ Silva/Nasri/Yaya? Suggestions please 😀

Yeah, it's just the only way I can get him is to take a hit or get rid of RVP, which my rival has, I think the 4 pointer of get just Silva

pretty hard to ignore the BIG man at the minute... even thogh Silva played good lastweek and got Bps. imo yaya. Mancini seems to entrust winning the title onto yaya's shoulders

Your punt (C) was good last week. So this week you must not fail and the title is yours, Probably its Carlito vs Pig.
Your friend did the hit before or after the red flag on dempsey? pay attention to that, if it was before he can get another hit, i've seen he is a hitter in the last weeks

Ok - I am using a WC on a mate's team to make sure I can get my rival back for doing the same a couple of weeks ago.

Currently I have the team as:

    Al Hasbi (Sorensen)
    Shawcross Hibbert Walker
    Bale Moses Ramires YaYa
    RvP(c) Aguero Jelavic
    (Ferguson R.Bennett deLaet)
    1.8m in bank.

(Bale looks like is one of the few that will lose some cash if I trade him out)

Any suggestions on changes to use the 1.5m?
Could upgrade one of the defenders?
    Keep YaYa?

Does the team sheets come out before the deadline? I'd like to get Clichy, but rotation would be a killer. 4 pt hit for a benched defender when trailing 6 points isn't what I'm looking for.

      A similar choice awaits me....

      I'm considering
      A) Rooney -> Aguero (no hit, but no fit outfield subs)
      B) Demps -> Maloney and Jelavic -> Aguero
      C) Demps -> Silva (or other) and Rooney-> Aguero

      Currently most tempted by B.

                  Yep, that's the problem-which one?

Was entertaining the idea of Toure but:

                  1. Doosra has a love fetish thing going on with him

                  and

                  2. The wiseheads on here says he'll sit deep at home.

A real dilemna. All of a sudden, a boring gwk has become an exciting one. 🙂

Yes, you could be right although I was looking at Clichy & Ivanovic to play with Walker. I fancy Chelsea may well thrash poor old Blackburn but I have no idea who will start in midfield or attack for them, or how long they will play. Ivan seems to be a guaranteed starter and also has a reasonable goal threat. Ditto Clichy who has been on great form recently.
Like Jafa says there could well be some cricket scores this week and Wigan, Chelsea, City and Norwich could be leading the charge.

Ah, in which case I wouldn't do Ivanovic for a hit to play over Turner. Can't see more than 6 for Ivan, and Blackburn are always a scoring threat, especially if Chelsea are resting players. But, hey, it's the final gameweek, so a final chance to go with the gut.

It was fun while it lasted and me me being up 100 in my money leagues its looking like its gonna be a fun summer despite Man U's epic fail. Looking like I'm gonna make the standard Rooney-> Aguero and hope thats somehow enough to finish in the top 100.

    Mignolet

    Walker, Vermaelen, Kompany

    Bale(VC), Valencia, Pienaar, Siggy

    Cisse, RVP, Aguero

    Schwarzer, Caulker, Evans, Dempsey

thats looking like the final lineup. Enough to make the final push or do people like taking some more risks/hits?

I don't really see the value in Silva if you have Aguero. I'd consider a hit for more of a flare pick but I can't seem to think of one I want 🙁

I wouldn't wanna take a hit for someone as inconstant as Moses. Think I'm just gonna end up sticking as the -4 can really do damage if it goes wrong(will go wrong a high % of the time).

I would consider Dempsey and Rooney -> Aguero and VDV but I already have Bale and Walker. Do I wanna bet on Tot to come through in the last game when its all on the line?

Oddly, though annoying, it crystalised things for me. I was always tempted to lose Dempsey to fund getting Aguero in - now it's a lot easier to do it.

Is it worth to take out Jelavic for Torres for a 4 pt. hit??

My attach would be RVP + Aguero + Torres then...i have pienaar for Everton cover and don't expect much from Everton against Newcastle, also 10 points behind my rival who also took a 4 pt. hit (his frontline is probably RVP + Aguero + Adebayor).

    What do you think?

I'm doing the equivalent of your -4, so I guess that's what I'd advise. Rooney on pens, and there could easily be one at Sunderland.

    Howard
    Terry, Verm, Kompany,
    VDV, Sig, Valencia, Moses
    Rooney, Aguero, VP

    Good luck all.

Cheers mucker. A top 10k berth would be great after a dreadful start to the season. More importantly, I am 10 pts adrift in my mini-league and hope to be top by the end of the gameweek.

yeah... but on the flip side... most of us put Rooney in and gave him the armband last week thinking United were about to do the same to Swansea...

City will be nervous.. it might not be the cricket score many are predicting...

So... basically for me it breaks down to:

    A) Rooney + Maloney
    B) Jelavic + City m/f
    C) Jelavic + Moses

I think A looks most tempting, so think I'll go with that. Especially as Jelavic is up against a Newcastle defence who love clean sheets.

Dear all. Recently found this site. Lost my big advantage built with double game week bonanza due to poor last week. Now my lead is only 12 points. Help please
3.3 in bank. I FT left
    Krul (Mignolet)
    Terry, Walker, vermaulen, Hibbert (Evans)
    VDV, Pienaar, Moses, Siggy (Dempsey)
    P Cisse, Tevez. (Jelavic)

    Opponent team
    Krul, Vorm
    Shawcross, Warnock, Hibbert, Enrique, Simpson
    Pienaar, Gomez, Mata, Dyer, song
    RVP, Rooney, P Cisse

What should be my line up and transfers
Prepared to gamble Dempsey out for Maloney and Aguero and Torres in for Cisse & Jelavic. What do you experts suggest.

I'd forget Torres if you're leading. He's a worthwhile punt to make up points, but also a real risk. Just get Aguero in, funded by Dempsey out.

Kinda agree... Torres this week is a punt for people chasing a ML or (in my case) wanting to gamble on upping their overall finish... not really a banker to win a tight ML...

    All, help required.....

    Verm, Enrique, Lescott (Simpson, Evans)
    VDV, Bale, HBA, Petrov (McLean)
    Suarez, Aguero, Rooney

    Begovic, Vorm
    BAE, Huth, Kompany, Rio, Verm
    Pilkington, Moses, Scholes, Valencia, Petrov
    Graham, Jellavic, rvp
