A stunning victory at Anfield for Villa. A first win for QPR. A Felliani headbutt and not a single clean sheet in sight; at least Robin Van Persie and Wayne Rooney provided the predictable. Here’s the Stock Check on Saturday’s events…

On the Up

Adel Taarabt
The Moroccan delivers at last. After generating some superb performance statistics, QPR’s mercurial talent delivered a telling brace in the win over Fulham – the R’s first victory of the season. At 5.5 in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) and with strong fixtures to come, Taarabt could yet start to deliver on his potential as a midfield acquisition and will surely collect some investment, particularly if Marouane Felliani picks up a retrospective red.

Christian Benteke
His fourth and fifth league goals of the season, coupled with the assist for Andreas Wenmann’s strike, ruined the Liverpool clean sheet and boosted the Belgian’s growing reputation further. Available at 6.5 in the FPL and with his pivotal role in the Villa attack undoubted, Benteke is another contender for that third striker spot. It’s Chelsea away next, with three home games in four to follow, as the resurgent form of Villa’s fledglings continues to flourish.

Robin Van Persie & Wayne Rooney
We discussed the merits of pairing the two in our forward lines and today they both delivered with Van Persie opening the scoring before delivering the assist for Rooney’s fifth goal in three league matches. Van Persie has now scored in his last four league matches: both look to be in relentless form with favourable fixtures to come. It seems only rest and rotation can de-rail them.

Demba Ba
An eleventh goal of the season provided little than a consolation for the Magpies but underlined Ba’s case for a place in our forward lines once again. At 8.2 in the FPL, Ba is presenting strong value in the same bracket as Jermain Defoe and Dimitar Berbatov and with QPR at home next, he could enjoy another surge in ownership.

Yaya Toure
A second goal in consecutive matches, the Ivorian has rewarded those who have kept the faith after going 12 without registering a strike. Toure is ranked second only to Carlos Tevez in the City squad for overall FPL points but, with the African Cup of Nations absence looming from Gameweek 22 onwards, his potential is limited to the next few weeks. Toure could possibly miss up to six league matches from January.

Anthony Pilkington
It was Robert Snodgrass who sparkled at the Liberty stadium last weekend but, typically, it was Anthony Pilkington’s turn to come to the fore for Norwich this time around. The winger provided the opening strike and added to his tally with the assist for Wes Hoolahan’s winner. A clear-cut target in Chris Hughton’s in-form squad remains fuzzy.

Going Down

Maraoune Fellaini
An alleged headbutt on Stoke’s Ryan Shawcross was seemingly missed by the matchday officials but, judging by the reaction to the incident in the Sky studio and David Moyes’ post-match comments, we look set to see retrospective punishment for the Belgian with an automatic three-match ban for violent conduct beckoning. Monday will doubtless bring further news. The template could be breaking, then; we can only hope that Michu escapes his White Hart Lane clash without a yellow.

Luis Suarez
It looked as though the Uruguayan was turning in performances this season that hinted at a new level of consistency, but, having notched in four consecutive matches, Suarez has now drawn a blank in his last four. With other forwards flourishing, we could now start seeing a decline in Suarez ownership, despite his promising Christmas schedule.

Rafael
With Chris Smalling and Phil Jones available as options, it seemed only a matter of time before Rafael became subject to rotation. Having provided an assist in an impressive showing at City last time out, the decision to rest the Brazilian today was down to a tight hamstring, with Sir Alex Ferguson confirming that he’ll be available for next weekend’s trip to Swansea. Regardless, with Jones and Smalling able deputies, Rafael could be prone to rest and rotation over Christmas.

The Norwich Defence
Shaun Maloney’s strike for Wigan shattered the Canaries clean sheet at Carrow Road and means that they have now gone five without a shut-out. Mark Bunn has kept goal in all five of those matches: clearly John Ruddy’s influence is considerable and badly missed. Sebastian Bassong was the most popular transfer in going into the Gameweek; as we mentioned in this week’s ScoutCast, he may have to maintain his goalscoring rate to repay that investment.

Grant Holt
Having returned to the scoresheet last weekend, the Norwich skipper drew a blank and hobbled from the field with a hamstring injury late on to make him a potential doubt for the festive programme.

Dimitar Berbatov
The Bulgarian has now gone six league starts without a goal, while Martin Jol’s side have scored just four goals in that six game spell. We’ve seen Berbatov’s stock and ownership decline steadily in recent weeks and, despite his undoubted talent and favourable fixtures to come, we could yet see that trend continue after today’s Loftus Road defeat.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Berbatov... should I:

    A: Hold until January
    B: Cut for Benteke
    C: Cut for Long?

I'd say B) but I wouldnt fancy shipping Berba who plays the team that just got hammered at Anfield for a player who is rocking up to Stamford Bridge next week.

Wouldnt buy Long either, simply for the rotation headache.

So just stick for now and buy Benteke after Chelsea game

Too much of a headache owning Carlito. He just doent get enough minutes for his price tag. Obviously it's not affected his points total too much, but do you want to be seeing him warming the bench all too frequently while you own him?

I was gonna say Ba, but you already have him. I'd focus on getting Fellaini out since a ban is coming. I know you don't like a certain City midfielder, but he's the safest bet for attack besides Yaya Toure.

Just get rid of Fellaini...but not sure who to replace him with yet.

No need to take a hit. Plus, you probably don't want to risk taking a hit for GW 18 as it's also the qualifcation round for the Cup.

What should I do with this ungodly bunch. Have similar issues to a a lot of others on here.

    Bego - Tremmel
    Sagna - Enrique - Nasty - Caulker - McCartney
    Michu - Felliani - Mata - Sterling - Puncheon
    RVP - Suarez - Berbaflopping

    Bank 2.4mil & 1 FT

Felliani > Bale is pretty much happening now. But anything else you think is worth changing - Enrique/Berba/Tremmel/Suarez?

    Fellaini -> Yaya,
    Rafael -> Zaba?

That'll give me room to do later
    Bale -> Mata and

If you've kept Bale through his injury, why are you selling him soon? Admittedly Mata is a great player, but so is Bale. And Bale is less prone to rotation than Mata too.

I would do Enrique/Rafeal>cheapie & Felliani>Mata leaving you with a quite frankly scary MF and a decent back-up in Punch

Fair enough on the Bale thing. Did not thing that way. I should've gone Bale -> Mata earlier that way.

I just reshuffled my plan and came up with this

Rafael -> Fonte, Fellaini -> Mata

Later it will allow me to do Berba -> Ba
and if Suarez still not performing I can switch him to Aguero in January (and downgrade Walcott back to Fellaini)

              😯 Great minds.

I'm thinking along the lines of Fellaini, Lallana and Jones –> Silva, Puncheon and Clyne(or other 4.0) giving me Silva – Santi – Michu – Sterling – Puncheon then eventually getting Bale and Mata in for Santi and Silva.

I went Rooney, so not too bad, but it could've been better with RVP(c).

I think the best strategy for me is keep Cazorla now and pray Silva does feck all against Reading.

Will just do Fellaini to Lennon and ignore Bale for when he comes back against villa 😉

But that doesn't matter. All that matters with that pass is whether Nasri was onside. Aguero could be standing next to the GK then and it still wouldn't matter. The only time Aguero comes into play is with Nasri's pass in which he is clearly onside.

Is this how dead the DZ is? We are going to speculate on whether someone who didn't score a goal would have had the goal they didn't score disallowed if they were offside? 😕

at least we have something to discuss, not boring 😉
I think if Augero was offside, he run forward in that case meant he joint the attack, goal would be disallowed. If he run opposite (like Tevez, moved back, gave up that attack and run forward again, the goal was allowed)

Similar problem to most I guess with Fellaini's 3 match ban looking likely - which option do you think looks the best here?

    A) Fellaini -> Yaya (he gets a lot of stick on here, but he'll be nailed on during the xmas period unlike a lot of City players, and he's still racking up a decent points haul (7th highest scoring mid in the game!)...)
    B) Fellaini -> Nolan (leaves enough in the tank for Sess -> Michu the following week)
    C) Fellaini & Sess -> Mata/Bale & Sterling (4 points)

    Jaask, Fed
    Enrique, Cuellar, Clyne, McCartney, Hughes
    Silva, Walcott, Fellaini, Sessegnon, Taarabt
    RVP, Ba, Suarez

Well, he deserves 3 months jail, for assault.

I like the way he thinks his afro was going to cover his action, you could see it going through his mind (once you saw thru his hair, of course)

If he's out for 3 matches i think i can ride it out with Sterling Cazorla/Mata Bale Michu. But if he's out for more i dont know what i'm gonna do.

Sell him for sure. His price is gonna drop like a stone.

            He's 8 now and I got him when he was 7 i believe. I don't think he drops 1 in 3 matches.

But you can sell him for 7.5 and he'll surely drop down to that after 3 weeks out.

I agree, no way you can have a mid sitting on the bench for three weeks (min) in the coming weeks.

Get him back Jan WC if needs must...

You're right. I could get this midfield if I sell him:

                Mata Cazorla/Silva Bale Michu Sterling..

Ok, the problem is, who should I get?

I want Mata but I'm aware he'll be rested until january at least.

Fellaini's got me in a lot of trouble. need to take a hit to upgrade him to silva/bale:

    A)fellaini and pienaar> puncheon and bale/silva

B)fellaini and flethcer> puncheon and torres

    pick one

    Fellaini to Yaya?

Coming into form, cheaper route into City team, will be played every game until goes to ACON...

Seems a bit meh to me. I think for Yaya to be a viable option in this game, he has to be held long term.

Agree with this. Yaya's more of a right place at the right time kind of player when he does score. It's not going to continue.

Yeah know what you're saying but last season I got a great short term return from him, I think around about the same time as this. Certainly nailed on for good City fixtures in a team with no stand-outs?

        I'm so anti-hit atm.....tough h2H's
