Earlier this morning, Southampton’s official twitter feed were first to give Fantasy managers the heads-up of a potential double Gameweek 22. The Saints’ previously postponed trip to Chelsea – cancelled due to the latter’s World Club Championship involvement last month – has now been pencilled in for Wednesday January 16.

Whether the league clash takes place all depends on the result of tomorrow’s FA Cup Third Round match between the two clubs. If the game ends all square, the above-mentioned date will be utilised for a cup replay and the league match rescheduled for another, as yet unspecified, time – if either side win, the double Gameweek will take place.

The news now adds an unexpected twist to the winter wildcard scenario. We could now, potentially, have back-to-back double Gameweeks to plan for, bearing in mind Arsenal and West Ham have a double the following week.

Southampton also visit Villa in Gameweek 22 and, while Chelsea face a testing trip to Stoke, there’s no doubt the home clash at the Bridge looks enticing, in spite of the Blues’ surprise loss to QPR last Wednesday. Indeed, Rafa Benitez’s decision to hand Juan Mata and Eden Hazard brief second-half sub roles against Harry Redknapp’s side should ensure they both start tomorrow’s match – boosting the Blues’ chances of progress.

Demba Ba’s move to Stamford Bridge – confirmed at midday by the Blues – brings him immediately onto the radar. At this moment, Ba is still classified as a Newcastle player in Fantasy games, meaning managers could conceivably, have four Blues players for the double if they choose to load up on Benitez’s side – a very risky tactic, however, given we’ll be wanting Arsenal and West Ham options in our squads immediately afterwards. The likes of Ross Turnbull could also come into the equation, offering us a cut-price short-term keeper option if Petr Cech remains sidelined.

While nothing is set in stone yet, the news at least shakes up our tactics and offers plenty variety to our approaches – undoubtedly good news, given the many identikit RMWCT posts currently doing the rounds.

All eyes on St Mary’s tomorrow afternoon, then.

      Holtby, this season for Schalke:

      16 apps: 3 goals, 5 assists, 24 shots, 24 key passes, 25 dribbles.

I see him as a Modric-type of player. Great potential.

Haven't been on since I broke my laptop yesterday (now fixed). Is using the wildcard in the last week the best plan considering the news above? I have 1 FT & 1.6 left. Should I keep Ba now brought him in last week. Should I bring in Fellaini for Snodgrass? Current team...

    Bego - Federici
    Clyne - Cameron - Cuellar - Sagna - Nelsen
    Snodgrass - Walcott - Mata - Michu - Bale
    RVP - Ba - Berbatov

Liverpool defender Jose Enrique is facing six weeks on the sidelines with a hamstring problem. The Spaniard was injured in the victory at QPR on Sunday.

"It was unfortunate he has done that because he has looked fantastic in the (recent) games," said Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers.

The good news is he might be quite cheap when he comes back and it sounds like Rodgers' plan for Studge is for Suarez and another to tuck in behind with even more of the fullbacks bombing forward.

Before we get excited about a Chelsea DGW22, isn't the big question whether any worthwhile
Chelsea players actually will get two games under rafatation?

It's hard enough being sure of 1 with Mata, Torres has just lost that status, and the rotation threat hangs over the whole defence.

Heck, Luiz is looking like the safest coverage right now...

I can't fit the 'Power 5' in well, so if one has to be sacrificed I think I'll chop Bale.

    Walcott, Mata, Fellaini, Michu, Lennon
    Van Persie, Cisse, Fletcher
