We’re down to the last 16 in the Scout Members Cup after last weekend’s results. Rodallega Bombs, who knocked out Evs in the previous round, progresses once again, while Stevey Trader was the top scoring manager for the round with 53 points – all the more impressive, given he took an eight point hit.

Elsewhere, former winner Fuzzy Dunlop is still in with a shout, as is site regular Eunuch Jelly, after a 45 point haul in Gameweek 30. The draw for the next round is being sorted out behind the scenes – we should be rolling that out tomorrow or Thursday:

1 Just_Ty 26 34 fodowd
2 cuihe_508 37 33 Old Glory
3 Zizo 46 49 drakesdrum
4 SQUEAKYBUMTIME 34 40 Rodallega Bombs

13 Nick 30 45 Eunuch Jelly
14 Maddocio 39 38 Lonecomander

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I ask again. To get more opinions.

Who would you lose to get Dimistar

    a) Roo
    b) RVP
    c) Studge

WC in backpocket. Hence, don't mind a good short term punt. Plus i fancy captaining him.

Tentatively, I'd say Rooney. I just wonder if, given that he'll surely play both games for England, whether SAF will rest him at Sunderland for the FA Cup tie with Chelsea. He may go Rooney and Hernandez in that game. Then again, as you know, I've an RVP blindspot so probably not the best to offer advice on this one.

Hold fire for a members article coming tomorrow though - some excellent digging by Paul on the Rooney/RVP situation.

why does Paul need to dig, plenty of us have given the stats (amongst other things) in the week just gone?

I jest, love the members article, but i went with Rooney

Hey Dave did you go tonight? What do you make of the manager appointment, I'm fairly underwhelmed I like many others was saying Lee who? Still if they win 3-0 every week that will soon be forgotten about, just looks to me like they have gone for the cheap option.

Im of the same opinion. Think it was the wrong decision given the situation and could easily have backfired and could still do. He's here now though so got to get behind him though & like you say win 3-0 every week and we'll all be laughing!

So I have climbed nearly 900k total spots since GW20 (the renaissance) and am now just below 500k, barely inspiring. Is it realistic to shot for top 100k now that I somewhat have a clue to play fantasy footy? Currently on 1500 points.

    JK you still here?

Almunia vs Lehmann situation in 04/05

Lehmann played the first 15 with fairly average results with 4 CS

Than was replaced by Almunia for 10 straight games after failing to get a CS in 7 consecutive games, that must of had some of his errors in there as well( that included the 5-4 game vs Tott)

Almunia played for 10 games keeping a CS in his first vs Birmingham but conceding 2 vs chelsea in the next one, he had 5 clean sheets in that span vs Portsmouth, Fulham and 2x vs Newc, also Birmingham as already mentioned. But in the other 5 games he conceded 9 goals, which resulted in him being dropped after losing to Man Utd 4-2.

It is tough to say if there are similarities in this as Almunia was the younger player and possibly thought of as the future goalkeeper(if not than it is much more likely that Almunia was brought in to give Lehmann a kick in the butt)

Also looking at the results and if there will be any similarities to this case and the one we have now with Flappy is that he wont be dropped until he really messes up. I personally cant see this happening with no really tough fixtures in sight.

If this is anything to go by than Fab should be ok for at least the next 3 gameweeks.

      I remember it well.

Almunia was at fault for 2 of the 4 United goals that night, which was presumably the final straw for Wenger and he reinstated Lehmann.

I personally think unless he makes a BIG error, or errors, that cost Arsenal a game or two, Flappy will be there to stay.

He was always going to go this week but for . . .

    Or

B). Giroud with a juicy fixture (REA) and dgw ahead - but could be hit be some bench splinters?

I personally am all over Giroud already got him in last week. Has the double GW, team is better and playing for something. Berba is playing for a mid table Fulham and despite his greatness is likely to have a hard time getting big scores. Ticker might also be misleading as I cant see the QPR or Villa game being too easy with them fighting for relegation.

Understand, hopefully the goal vs Bayern and assist vs Swansea will be a platform for some form for Giroud. For me the DGW is the big decider and wanting Everton mids and therefor not being able to fit both Walcott and caz.

True, I am an owner so a bit bias but I feel he is rather safe. Poldi was on the bench even when he was fit and wont play central. Gervinho... I just cant see it.

That is a nice writeup showing that he actually has some use as well despite being an utter donkey and popping up for some nice scores.

I also suggest you check out Berbas shot stats I feel he has overperformed in the past weeks( only 1 shot vs City)

    Just on the Michu situation:

    Spurs (H)
    Norwich (A)
    ----------------
    Southampton (H)
    Chelsea (A)
    Man City (H) DGW
    Wigan (A) DGW
    Man Utd (A)
    Fulham (H)

Even though he has a DGW, its vs City and Wigan who are in a relegation battle, look what happened Man Utd last year in the DW when Wigan were fighting for their lives.
The only fixtures that can be seen as good for Michu till the end of the season are really Southampton & Fulham.

Looking at the problems it's cause, I've said the ICC is a terribly divisive competition for this site. Believing that one should not criticize without offering a solution, I've come up with an idea.

The worst thing about the ICC is that FFS has an undeserved reputation for cliquishness. ICC seems to reinforce that reputation. But ICC seems to fill a desire for a team based competition.

So if there is interest, I'd be looking to set up a team based competition that was open to all comers (or at least a reasonable number on a first come first served basis). It would be open to all who are not participating in the ICC.

Rather than the arcane selection process of the ICC, I am envisioning captains drafting teams from the participants. We would have as many teams as needed to accomadate all the entrants, limited only by the number of captains who volunteer.

Would here be any interest in this?

What about a theme for the competition? Any ideas? World Cup?

Before you run with this, can I point out that to do what you are suggesting requires a massive ammount of admin or coding work.

Its a great idea though. What I was thinking is that next season a traditional format league is run for teams with an unlimited number of teams. That way everyone can play.

Did there not used to be a a division structure thing happening with promotion and relegation. Not sure if that's what the Europe thing is, but my impression of that is it is invite only so closed to most people, which is organisers prerogative.

Easiest way to do it would be to set up a classic league on FPL for each team, and add up the totals each week. Let FPL do the heavy lifting.

I think the format for the ICC is great and I'm sure next season, further tournaments will start up. I think we have to be fair here and say that, when the tournament launched, there was no real indication on the uptake. With the international break and discussion here, the tournament has proved very popular - which is why we posted the article.

It's not an FFS tournament so I can't get involved in the rules, we're only hosting the discussion, but it is a shame that everyone interested can't take part in some way. However, this is a first stab at the format and I'm sure it will be iterated upon and improved to be more inclusive for future tournaments next season.

I know, from hosting the H2H leagues, how difficult it can be when something outgrows the format. Let's show some patience because, as I say, the format is great and these things take some organising.

Patience is the appropriate word here. As I said on other posts I have no issue with people setting up leagues inclusive or not, though not sure how ICC can be classed as exclusive, everyone has fair chance to join and there are still spaces.

Was the decision to host here based on wanting the passionate regulars to still be on FFS this week or was it more for the likelihood that your web platform might be a better way for the ICC folk to chat than the UEFA site? Can see the merits of both, just wondering.

It was evident that, over this week, we'd see a lot a chat about the tournament. Having that appear in the comments for every article would have just confused and irritated those uninterested in the tournament so I thought it best to set up an article to house the discussion. I think trying to moderate the ICC discussion would have been pointless and an endless task - clearly folk liked the format, wanted to get involved and it would have been silly of me to discourage that when a lot of regular posters were amongst them.

Giving you the benefit of the doubt here and explaining what may have been a "not-so-well structured post".

The different names was in reference to the different tournaments. Meaning if over the course of the season there are 10 major sub-tournaments developed here, generally its the same 40-50 posters that end up in them.

I need to ditch Siggy or Michu for Cazorla.

I'm tempted to keep Siggy because he is a differential but he seems to have been pushed out wide.

    Who would you go for?

Thinking of swapping Noble for Wilshere when he comes back from injury. Does this sound like a good plan? He would be my 5th mid so on the bench a lot but obviously would be great for the DGW...

Sadly can't do a straight michu to cazorla (missing 0.2).
I also don't like three of the next four fixtures for benteke (Liverpool, united, stoke away)
Is michu + benteke for cazorla and berbatov make sense or not worth a hit?
Other options are michu and Davies for Wilson and caz

In the same boat. Thinking Michu -> Maloney/Beausejour then Sissoko -> Cazorla.

Thing about Benteke is he can score regardless of opposition / team-mates. Bit like Ba when he was at Newcastle. But looks good on Berb's current form, and I'm all for hits :).

Article in Macedonian newspapers that Belgium potentially without Komp and Fellaini in Skopje. I know about Komp but Fellaini? Words from the manager on the press before the game, that both of them are injury doubts.

Rumors also that Mancini was insisting Komp not to feature.
