On a day which struggled for goals and headline makers, City’s stuttered victory against a confident Hull saw the Fantasy landscape shift and generate a series of selection headaches. Elsewhere, two largely ignored midfield assets earned precious points to boost their stock.

The Game Changer

Alvaro Negredo second goal in as many games has announced his arrival in the Premier League and accelerated doubts surrounding Edin Dzeko’s status. Introduced from the bench at half-time to replace the Bosnian, Negredo latched onto a fine delivery from Pablo Zabaleta to head City into a lead which they scarcely deserved.

With a 25-goal tally in La Liga last term, Negredo’s pedigree a proven marksman was unlikely to be kept shackled for long. He’s taken opportunities in his last two outings as a substitute and will now surely push for a start for the Gameweek 4 trip to the Britannia. While that’s good news for Manuel Pellegrini’s attacking options, for Dzeko owners, today’s events were far from welcome.

The Underused

Robert Snodgrass monopolised our attention in the Norwich midfield over the pre-season, resulting in new signing, Nathan Redmond, being largely overlooked. The former Birmingham winger has, however, shone far brighter than his team-mate thus far, adding an end product to several sparkling performances to seal the points against Southampton.

Priced at just 5.0 in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, Redmond has earned just over 1% ownership to this point. That’s surely set to change over the international break with Snodgrass owners doubtless considering the trade that would free up a precious 1.5 in funds. With Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs in the next five, however, both Redmond and Snodgrass come with a hefty caveat attached.

While Redmond was picked out in this week’s ScoutCast by Granville’s Fantasy Island Risk pick, Newcastle’s Hatem Ben Arfa was also singled out and was our headline act in the Differentials. Like Redmond, he duly delivered. A constant source of creativity and threat throughout, Ben Arfa’s superb strike settled the clash with Fulham at St James’ Park. Unlike Redmond, the Frenchman has a string of favourable fixtures which lend themselves to further investment and a marked increase in his modest 4.5% FPL ownership.

The Selection Poser

As mentioned, Negredo’s emergence could well sound the death knell for Edin Dzeko’s security of start. The Bosnian is currently owned by over 19% of FPL managers following his impressive opening to the campaign and kind 7.5 valuation. Those managers will now be highly concerned going into the break with Negredo surely in line to get the nod for the trip to Stoke.

Gael Clichy owners also have plenty to ponder. Whilst Zabaleta benefited from clean sheet and assist returns, the former Gunner was consigned to the bench with Aleks Kolarov given the nod on the left of the City defence. Presumably, Clichy paid the price for the defeat to Cardiff. Unless Kolarov’s start was part of a regular plan in home matches against teams likely to “park the bus”, Clichy may be another name scrapping to earn a start at the Britannia as Pellegrini puts his stamp on the City squad.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Hey guys, some advice needed please... I don't really want to use my WC and tbh I don't think I will...

BUT also want to have the option to bring in RVP if I decide I want him, the thing is I won't be able to do that the way I want to without an 8pt hit, since right now want to keep Soldado and Benteke and take out Dzeko...

Would you WC this team just to get RVP?

    Mignolet Lewis
    Zaba Coleman Turner Chester Ward
    Silva Walcott Coutinho Mirallas Kim
    Soldado Benteke Dzeko

The moves in question would probably to be:

Dzeko, Silva & Coutinho > RVP, Lampard & JWP (-8)

Obviously, still having Mirallas isn't ideal since I'm not convinced he will be in my team long term, but I also want to give him more chances to prove himself... Soldado could become Sturridge later on for much need Pool coverage too...

Personally can't see enough rises to make this a worthwhile WC wielding venture...

    Thoughts please?

    Thanks

I would WC. Don't hesitate to use it early. If you need to remediate issues in your team you might as well do it now, rather than do it over the next 4/5 weeks (other injuries etc will delay it too...).

Regardless of what transfers your making, I wouldn't WC just for 3 transfers. I'm not convinced there's going to be much transfer activity over the break - unless someone strikes hot on sunday. I had planned to WC GW3 at the beginning of the season based on fixtures and although there's about 3 changes I want (not need) to make it's not enough to WC. I'm sure I'll need it soon enough!!

Yeah if I was to WC, I'd definitely make more than 3 transfers...

The moves in question were the extents of me NOT WCing...

        Thanks

Is upgrading Coleman to Baines COMPLETELY INSANE?

Or will Penalties / Free Kicks / BPS make it worth it?

As I said on the last page, Baines will score more points, a lot more. £2.2m more? I dunno.

BPS advantage (which is strange for a sideback), penalties, other goals and more assists. If I was a betting man I would have him on top scoring defender this year, which currently is saying a lot!

For full disclosure I have Coleman, because I need that £2.2m 🙂

i dont necessarily intend to do it illegally - is there a site one can pay for? or do the television deals not allow it.. Im in Canada and its hard to get games and harder to watch them all simultaneously. is there a way to get extensive highlights through a legitimate sporting website? does bbc or some provider have online highlight shows?

    Mignolet
    Coleman | Dawson | Collins
    Silva | Wally | Mirallas | HBA
    RVP | Tekkers | Lambert

I have two issues with it, which are Mirallas and Lambert.

There's lots of talk about keeping the WC etc but what use is that if your side is sliding down the rankings and things not going well.. After a few GWs we understand the Bonus Points system better and we are more sure about starters/ rotaters etc.. Not to mention a few injuries and underperformers ( foster, snod, mirallas, luk, hazard, Dzeko amongst others)
Think it makes sense to do it now.. The problem with a site like this is that everybody wants each other to have the same side and tactics but that's proven to folly..
The overall winner wildcarded really early last season and I didn't see that do him any harm. I also noted that he said to avoid going with the masses thinking too.. Pick your own hunches more etc
I remember been laughed at for having Yaya n Adam in earlier RMT's for example. They would have been better picks than the more conformist picks anyway..

Overall I'm satisfied enough being in the top 500,000 now but want to close that gap to the top players.

I've activated my WC to get rid of the dead wood.
Change my overall approach and capitalize and price increases.
I'll take a couple of hits later if or when further changes are needed..

    Boruc, Mignolet
    Walker, zabaleta, Collins, Coleman, murner

Barkley, Brady, Yaya, Ben arfa, Jarvis

    Soldado, Negredo, RvP

How's this looking for a WC?
Emphasis at the back n up top ( where the points seem to be) with a few solid mids..

What's going to happen when he gets a decent run in the side..

Thinking Soldado and Brady in for Dzeko and Miralles.

Pull the trigger now? Soldado may rise tonight and Brady will rise shortly. Or wait?

Wait until after the Internationals. It's inevitable that at least 1 player gets injured

You can wait until after the internationals but then you run the risk of all the players you want increasing in value as they are likely popular with everyone not just you.

    Need to downgrade a mid:

    A) Coutinho > HBA/Lampard/Oscar
    B) Nolan > Brady/Redmond/Koren
    C) Wanyama > Ward-Prowse/Pennant

      Keep Coutinho for sure.
      B is okay.
I'd go with C. Wanyama is rubbish for FPL. Nolan is decent so keep him.

Pool have great fixtures. I don't see it as a problem doubling up on their players.
          Newcastle's are okay. Chelsea's aren't great.

How good was Ben Arfa today? Newcastle aren't scoring much. Can Barfa be trusted?

Make the quick transfers tonight to avoid price drops? Or wait a week or so and have the luxury of knowing who's fit/injured for the next gameweek?

I could do Snodgrass to Ben Arfa tonight, but I'm not sure I want to. But if I don't do it, I lose the opportunity tonight.

      use this to decide: http://totalfpl.com/pricechanges

if you see a player is going to rise (which happens each night a bit after 2am GMT) that you want, then get him in

but hold off when you can

Ye. I've seen it. I have 0.5 in the bank and Snodgrass is dropping.
But I'm not even sure I want Barfa. I wanna see tomorrow's games and what if one of my players gets injured in the next 2 weeks?
Really annoying decision to make. Money is important at this point in the season I think.

Fine if they keep a clean sheet. Screwed if they don't. Remember they dominated Swansea on the opening day but Swansea still nicked a goal.

Im 30pts with 5 to play. I captained Aguero and also had Dzeko. Talk about a limp strikeforce. Had planned to keep Aguero and ship Dzeko next week. Looks like I could be shipping both.

This is an interesting one. Moses could be excellent value in himself and should allow Coutinho to play centrally, which will boost his chances as well.
I'm sure a lot of people will be all over this one - I certainly feel that young Victor owes me some points from two years ago.
