On a day which struggled for goals and headline makers, City’s stuttered victory against a confident Hull saw the Fantasy landscape shift and generate a series of selection headaches. Elsewhere, two largely ignored midfield assets earned precious points to boost their stock.

The Game Changer

Alvaro Negredo second goal in as many games has announced his arrival in the Premier League and accelerated doubts surrounding Edin Dzeko’s status. Introduced from the bench at half-time to replace the Bosnian, Negredo latched onto a fine delivery from Pablo Zabaleta to head City into a lead which they scarcely deserved.

With a 25-goal tally in La Liga last term, Negredo’s pedigree a proven marksman was unlikely to be kept shackled for long. He’s taken opportunities in his last two outings as a substitute and will now surely push for a start for the Gameweek 4 trip to the Britannia. While that’s good news for Manuel Pellegrini’s attacking options, for Dzeko owners, today’s events were far from welcome.

The Underused

Robert Snodgrass monopolised our attention in the Norwich midfield over the pre-season, resulting in new signing, Nathan Redmond, being largely overlooked. The former Birmingham winger has, however, shone far brighter than his team-mate thus far, adding an end product to several sparkling performances to seal the points against Southampton.

Priced at just 5.0 in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, Redmond has earned just over 1% ownership to this point. That’s surely set to change over the international break with Snodgrass owners doubtless considering the trade that would free up a precious 1.5 in funds. With Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs in the next five, however, both Redmond and Snodgrass come with a hefty caveat attached.

While Redmond was picked out in this week’s ScoutCast by Granville’s Fantasy Island Risk pick, Newcastle’s Hatem Ben Arfa was also singled out and was our headline act in the Differentials. Like Redmond, he duly delivered. A constant source of creativity and threat throughout, Ben Arfa’s superb strike settled the clash with Fulham at St James’ Park. Unlike Redmond, the Frenchman has a string of favourable fixtures which lend themselves to further investment and a marked increase in his modest 4.5% FPL ownership.

The Selection Poser

As mentioned, Negredo’s emergence could well sound the death knell for Edin Dzeko’s security of start. The Bosnian is currently owned by over 19% of FPL managers following his impressive opening to the campaign and kind 7.5 valuation. Those managers will now be highly concerned going into the break with Negredo surely in line to get the nod for the trip to Stoke.

Gael Clichy owners also have plenty to ponder. Whilst Zabaleta benefited from clean sheet and assist returns, the former Gunner was consigned to the bench with Aleks Kolarov given the nod on the left of the City defence. Presumably, Clichy paid the price for the defeat to Cardiff. Unless Kolarov’s start was part of a regular plan in home matches against teams likely to “park the bus”, Clichy may be another name scrapping to earn a start at the Britannia as Pellegrini puts his stamp on the City squad.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Is owning Clyne, Kolo and Mirallas enough reason to wildcard? Head says no, heart says let me wildcard.

Not enough no. Clyne and Mirallas can still come good. Toure might have to go now that Liverpool have signed a new CB.

Who's knocking about? Peps? Lat? Evs? Evening all!

Very pleased so far. Almost everything since gw1 has been working. My link is not working but i'll do that soon.

Yesterday afternoon I did Ramires to Brady for my free transfer and banked 1.5m. Team value is well over 101m already and just got the cash from soldado, silva, coleman, migs, and zaba.

I will save my WC I think, but plan on spending 4pts for a replacement for Dzeko!!! I have 4.1m in the bank. By the end of the two week break I may just about have enough to do Soldado to RVP!!!! 🙂 (rag bar steward though!!!)

Thoughts on my team and situation very much appreciated...

    Boruc
    Coleman Chester Zabaleta Toure
    Silva Walcott Brady(v)
    Dzeko Soldado(c) Sturridge

Captained Soldado once already and hopefully tomorrow will clear up a few things, or Walcott and Soldado are both on the block.

Thinking somehow get RVP in , or Benteke looks tasty for GW4

    Cheers lads!!!

Would you wildcard? I really want to re-distribute money in the defence and get van Persie with minimal impact to the team. But I'm still unsure of midfield options.

    Boruc (Westwood)
    Toure, Ward, Reid, Coleman, Chester
    Walcott, Cabral, Coutinho, Silva, Mirallas
    Benteke, Sturridge, Giroud.

    Time to WC DZ?

    Migs, Boruc
    Turner, Collins, Clyne, Coleman, Chester
    Walcott, Hazard, Mirallas, Coutinho, Kim
    Soldado, Benteke, Osvaldo

    Bank : 0.5m

Clyne, Mirallas, Hazard, Coutinho and Osvaldo are the players i don't want anymore

What can i do with this team if not WC?

    0.4m in the bank

Any reason to get Vidic in and not Ferdinand who is 0.5 m cheaper. They both have a history of picking up injuries so that 0.5 saved might come handy.
Or maybe get Evra and forget about having to replace him

And is Clyne going to drop before tonight's matches?

With Chelsea up next there will be too many price falls to hang on to him. Especially when there is no guarantee he will improve in Evertons new system

    Boruc
    Ivanovic, Turner, Chester, Coleman
    Walcott, Silva, Coutinho
    Benteke, Lambert, Soldado

Subs - Foster, Kim, Mirallas, Turner

    What to do?

    A. Trade out Foster
    B. Trade out Mirallas,
    C. Play Kim/ Mirallas over Coleman
    D. Stay as is.

    Thanks 🙂

    Soldado, Benteke, Lambert.

I want to get rid of Marshall>4.0, Jedinak>Brady.

    Made a slight error today

Took out Williams for Brady with the free. Thought one was going to rise and the other drop. Means if want van persie looking at a -12

    With

    Toure
    Courtinho
    Dzeko
    Mirallas

All looking suspect could be enough to press that button?

If I were to wild card now I'd be looking to sell about 9 players. The only problem is I haven't a clue who I want in midfield or whether it's worth destroying the team shape to get RVP.

I think i would use WC at this stage rather than. 12pt hit. You can also catch the price rises in the break.

Got to agree with this. Anything 12pt hit or over is WC territory. Possibly even 8pt hit.....

Sucks. Don't want to use my WC but have so many players I want to replace.

    OUT:
    Mirallas
    Williams
    Ward
    Coutinho(maybe)

    IN:
    RVP

I guess I could take an 8pt hit to patch it up, or just take a 4pt hit, get RVP and take the Mirallas price falls... 😐

You in very similar position to myself

Williams annoyed me the most. If only had begun with Barklay.
The devil was in the detail ;(

It a close call imo. There is also the risk that if you dont use the card now and one of your other players in injured on internationals then you could be forced to wildcard near the end of this gameweek , missing out on the risers

I plan to do Silva + Dzeko > Brady + RVP. I guess I can get Brady now and wait on RVP.

But that doesnt solve anything. I;ll still be stuck with Mirallas, Williams and Dzeko.

        Oh and I forgot Dzeko....

The thing is if I get RVP, I'll have to hold Williams and Mirallas - who will likely fall over international break. And I don't see much point production in their future.

Williams will only fall once though, and there are worse things than having a crappy 5th midfielder if the rest of your team is strong.

Yes he may only fall once , although as his ownership falls it takes fewer sales for a fall.

You will be heped if courtino does something tomorrow , will ease the pressure , otherwise he will be another faller along with Silva.

You lucky you dont have Toure too

    I guess a (-8) patches a bit up...

Dzeko, Silva, Mirallas --> RVP, Brady, Barfa/Paulinho gives me:

    Migs, Lewis
    Coleman, Collins, Murner, Yanga-Mbiwa, Ward
    Walcott, Coutinho, Brady, Barfa/Paulinho, Williams
    RVP, Benteke, Soldado.

Thoughts? Mirallas will probably fall 0.3 over int. break.

I would probably lean towards that. I don't know that Barfa/Paulinho are that much better than Mirallas. I also don't think he's going to fall .3. I guess the international break is long, but the transfers haven't started flooding out yet. Only a .1-.2 loss would be my guess.
