On a day which struggled for goals and headline makers, Cityโ€™s stuttered victory against a confident Hull saw the Fantasy landscape shift and generate a series of selection headaches. Elsewhere, two largely ignored midfield assets earned precious points to boost their stock.

The Game Changer

Alvaro Negredo second goal in as many games has announced his arrival in the Premier League and accelerated doubts surrounding Edin Dzekoโ€™s status. Introduced from the bench at half-time to replace the Bosnian, Negredo latched onto a fine delivery from Pablo Zabaleta to head City into a lead which they scarcely deserved.

With a 25-goal tally in La Liga last term, Negredoโ€™s pedigree a proven marksman was unlikely to be kept shackled for long. Heโ€™s taken opportunities in his last two outings as a substitute and will now surely push for a start for the Gameweek 4 trip to the Britannia. While thatโ€™s good news for Manuel Pellegriniโ€™s attacking options, for Dzeko owners, todayโ€™s events were far from welcome.

The Underused

Robert Snodgrass monopolised our attention in the Norwich midfield over the pre-season, resulting in new signing, Nathan Redmond, being largely overlooked. The former Birmingham winger has, however, shone far brighter than his team-mate thus far, adding an end product to several sparkling performances to seal the points against Southampton.

Priced at just 5.0 in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, Redmond has earned just over 1% ownership to this point. Thatโ€™s surely set to change over the international break with Snodgrass owners doubtless considering the trade that would free up a precious 1.5 in funds. With Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs in the next five, however, both Redmond and Snodgrass come with a hefty caveat attached.

While Redmond was picked out in this weekโ€™s ScoutCast by Granvilleโ€™s Fantasy Island Risk pick, Newcastleโ€™s Hatem Ben Arfa was also singled out and was our headline act in the Differentials. Like Redmond, he duly delivered. A constant source of creativity and threat throughout, Ben Arfaโ€™s superb strike settled the clash with Fulham at St Jamesโ€™ Park. Unlike Redmond, the Frenchman has a string of favourable fixtures which lend themselves to further investment and a marked increase in his modest 4.5% FPL ownership.

The Selection Poser

As mentioned, Negredoโ€™s emergence could well sound the death knell for Edin Dzekoโ€™s security of start. The Bosnian is currently owned by over 19% of FPL managers following his impressive opening to the campaign and kind 7.5 valuation. Those managers will now be highly concerned going into the break with Negredo surely in line to get the nod for the trip to Stoke.

Gael Clichy owners also have plenty to ponder. Whilst Zabaleta benefited from clean sheet and assist returns, the former Gunner was consigned to the bench with Aleks Kolarov given the nod on the left of the City defence. Presumably, Clichy paid the price for the defeat to Cardiff. Unless Kolarovโ€™s start was part of a regular plan in home matches against teams likely to “park the bus”, Clichy may be another name scrapping to earn a start at the Britannia as Pellegrini puts his stamp on the City squad.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Anyone know anything about this...

Wayne Rooney is out of Manchester United's trip to Liverpool on Sunday. The 27-year-old could miss England's World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and Ukraine after having 10 stitches in a head gash suffered in training on Saturday.

It's only a matter of time before Negredo is first choice, shirley?

9.5m for a City striker is tasty. Or will rotation persistently be an issue?

Mirallas to BArfa? Might kind of be chasing points but he has decent fixtures and looked good against Fulham. Mirallas will drop at least once this week and BArfa will probably rise. Depends how much faith you have in Mirallas coming good eventually but Everton have looked pretty uninspired going forward so far, I wouldn't be surprised if they change things up soon.

Saving FT is the best way unless there is an injured player after International.

No need WC so soon, just keep an eye on Giroud. He might going to stop scoring goal soon.

Downgrade midfield to improve DEF (Zaba or Vidic or Rafa is he's fit). Expensive mids seem not in their form yet. New bonus point system loves DEF when they get clean sheet.

If you are in WC, it's better to get rid Coutinho. Because he's not worth 9.0 at the moment.
If you are not in WC then keeping faith onto Coutinho is good.

He has the potential to be a big hitting midfielder. 7m is a bargain if he can become more consistent and stay injury free.

He's a little wizard and served me well for the brief periods I've had him. But the collection of losers around him look so so bad. One good player in a terrible team rarely does well.

    Hello Dz.

Already done Snodgrass to Brady as my FT.

Was thinking to do Dzeko to Rooney. Will wait till we know after the internationals played.

    My current team is

    Boruc, Manone
    Coleman, Reither, Ivan, Zab, Mert
    Morrison, Brady, Walcott, Mirallas, Nolan
    Benteke, Dzeko, Lambert
    5.3 in the bank

Few of my knee jerking transfers I might do for GW 4
Dzeko to Rooney if he is fit.
    Mirallas to Lampard
Mertasaker to Vertogen / Vidic. Leave this one as I will 4-3-3 for most of the GWS

    What do you guys recommend?

It's because he plays as a finisher now. He doesn't drop back a lot like what he did before.
Look at in Arsenal when there was Adebayor and Henry he used to play as a second striker or winger.

would appreciate some thoughts on my team and where my transfer priorities should be, have been away on holiday (haven't seen any of the games) and have had a poor start (currently around the 1m mark).

    Boruc / Davis

    Murner / Shaw / Chester / Collins / Cashley

    Silva / Walcott / Coutinho / Mirallas / Jedinak

    RVW / Giroud / Soldado

Have 1FT and 2.7m in the bank

I have the exact money for RVW -> RVP and Silva -> Brady - good move?

Happy to play Brady in the next four games.

    Gahhhh someone convince me

Need to go : Dzeko, Toure, Foster

Want to go : Mirallas, Coutinho, Jedinak, M.Turner, Silva

    Want to get : RVP.

Worth the WC? Swinging towards atm, although alternatively i could remove Dzeko + Miralls for -4, but then I would be stuck with all the injuries etc still.

If you're in a "forced" position to leave one of these guys which 1 would you leave?

Toure- Pool fixtures are good but potential bench fodder with the arrival of Sakho

    OR

M.Turner- Short term fixtures look bad but has assured starts & very good potential for Clean Sheets at home so might become a budget season keeper

Currently leaning on keeping Murner & doing Toure โžก Chester to bring in Mr. FPL (Robin). Good to go with the plan?
