Breaking Down The BPS – Defending

Today brings a close to our series of articles that examine the new BPS system introduced to the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) format this summer. Having focussed on Pass Completion and Creativity in the first two instalments, all that remains left to cover are the relevant defensive statistics.

When it comes to defensive actions, the FPL breaks down the awarding of BPS as follows…

For every 8 clearances, blocks and interceptions (total)
For every 8 recoveries
Making 3 successful tackles (net*)
*Net successful tackles is the total of all successful tackles minus any unsuccessful tackles. Players will not be awarded negative BPS points for this statistic.

      Yes it makes no difference. Baines will end up highest scoring defender regardless of how many Everton you have. I wouldn't look at it that way if you see what I mean.

Don't agree with several aspects of the bonus points system. They have made it far too complex plus in terms of what happens during a game it can be misleading and to an extent unfair regards a payers performance. The offside penalties should be either abandonded or readjusted. It is quite often now the fault of the player found offside but that of a player delaying the pass to him. A very frequent event, top strikers often make the perfect run, only to be let down by a hesitant pass. He should not get penalised for this. Also negatives for being tackled bother me. A busy player wi get tackled more often, it doesn't mean he is being less productive, its part of his trade. CBs tapping the ball to each other do not get tackled, it doesn't make them better on the ball. Much needs to be fixed imo.
