The waiting is finally over. A little later than anticipated, we roll out the First Round Draw for the eighth Fantasy Football Scout Cup, sponsored by Paddy Power – for those who submitted their teams for the Gameweek 11 qualifying round, read on to discover whether you made the cut as we assess some of the standout head-to-heads set to take place over Gameweek 12 next weekend.

First up, if you managed a score of 55 points or more (after points spent on transfers), a place in the knockout stages awaits. All previous winners of the cup have received an automatic bye into the First Round – reigning champion Wild Rover find himself the underdog as he kicks off his defence against frankm8, with an overall rank of around 885,0000 compared to his opponents 37,000.

The full first round draw can be viewed on this page.

Looking at some of the previous winners, our very own Jonty squares up to site regular Back to Back Ballacks, while long-time site visitor Goonerdave finds himself up against The Menaces Return.

Some other “old school” names such as SuperDunny, Gargamel and Shipsontrev jump out on first glance – they are set to take on RafaMC, bekorchi and flipaduck respectively.

One of the site’s new moderating team, Greendwindmill, braces himself for a clash against Tokyo Red, while our Suspension Tightrope expert Anorak will face SAAB for a spot in the second round. Evs is up against mark collier – this looks a tough one, with both inside the top 10,000 – while MissPolly has the honour on taking on Granville, no less.

Four of the highest ranked managers in the draw go head-to-head, as Accounting on Chris (8,825) takes on Unbelievabletekkers (16.374) and champskebab (6,083) gears up for a clash with nowayjose, who sits in 275th spot in the overall rankings.

Beric gets the chance to continue his superb season. Currently sitting inside the top 1,000, he takes on g-doo, who is very much the outsider here, with a ranking of 145,000. Forca Inter will fancy his chances of progressing. In the First Round, our site regular has been drawn against MB10 – the former has an overall ranking around 71,000 against his opponents’ 233,000.

Giggs Boson, another familiar name around these parts, takes on CanTheyScore – both look evenly-matches so far, with respective ranks of 30,167 and 24,544, while Germanphil (ranked 173,368) has a real uphill task ahead – he’s up against TitusShambles, the highest-ranked manager in the First Round draw, with an overall rank of 102.

With our new Cup system now in place (more good work by Ed), we can monitor how these ties are shaping up as the Gameweek progresses and later in the tournament we’ll even be considering live draws – Sir Trevor Brooking not supplied.

As always, good luck to everyone involved.

For FIFA and PS users.Thought I'd share my thoughts.
Just got my PS4. Played some FIFA 14. I am impressed. Graphics looks good. Game feels smooth, specifically dribbling and movements. Feels like an improvement from the PS3 version. Controller gets a little warm though, my palms seem to be permanently moist. Installing BF4.

Like I said above, it feels like an improvement to me, and I play usually three times a week, so for me, it is worth it. Everything feels smoother, more fluid, and my players off the ball seem to be more intelligent.

Ok so I've used my wildcard and did my defense, looking towards the next few weeks. so far my defense includes 1 from West Brom,Liverpool,Swansea,West Ham and Stoke. I don't want any from Man City or Chelsea, other than that is there anyone I should get who costs no more than 5.6.

Will Arsenal be a good bet or would it be overkill as I already have 3 Liverpool (Johnson, Coutinho,Suarez) and 2 Arsenal (Ramsey,Giroud)

    Your thoughts 🙂

Last chance to ask. Take it or Leave it?

    Sturridge -> Rooney ©
    Williams -> Baker

The 2nd one is to fund the 1st transfer. I choose to sell Williams instead of Dawson because Swan's involvement in Europa League and Spurs may still keeping it tight against difficult opponent.

It's -8 pts though. Huge risk. Do it?

Agree with you on Swans Europa impact, and have been considering Rooney myself, but I wouldn't take a 8 point hit. If you want to move Sturridge on then I would go for Benteke

Not that out of the box, the way I see it, Ozil who I've made quite a profit on, is tying up a lot of cash, I am far from convinced he will deliver a big tally of goals. People are already getting Walcott which to me is far more out of the box. It will take him time to get up to speed, plus a chance of him as Walcott is prone to, picking up another injury of some sort. With Cazorla, I have a pretty nailed on player, if Walcott starts doing the biz, it's a very easy straight swap, with even more dosh to spend elsewhere.

I'm on my wildcard and currently have aguero, Suarez and Remy up front. Rooney is going up tonight.....should I be finding room for him?

No point, take the rises on those you already have, unless you're keeping Rooney.

I've been toying with a similar dilemma.

Remy frees up some cash - with not a bad run of games ahead. But ...I believe he has a few legal issues yet to be resolved.

      Rooney ....... hhhhemmmmm

I am making a few adjustments for the festive fixtures. In terms of defence, is the following going to leave me too light?

I am actually doing walker -- yanga, already have the rest.

It allows me to upgrade barkley, lallana and jedinak to walcott, sessegnon and arnautovic/synod grass in next few.

Yanga - inconsistent player in an inconsistent team.
Baines - attacking stats fallen off a cliff recently. Best fixtures though.
Williams - decent fixtures, reasonable form.
Fonte - strong defence, brutal fixtures
      Chester - kidnapped by aliens.

Villa, Narch, Man Utd, Spurs all look good as well as Everton.

    Ridgwell on 99% to rise

    1) do we think he'll make it tonight?

    2) if you could afford either would anyone take Ridgewell over McAuley?
