While Luis Suarez failed to match the performance and points tally of his devastating midweek showing, the Uruguayan did more than enough to justify the Fantasy armband as his dragged Liverpool to another four goals and three points at Anfield. Elsewhere, Norwich City’s rollercoaster season continued, with a Dutch raider coming to the fore to emerge as the latest midfield differential to consider.

The Game Changer

He’s making it look easy. Just as Robin van Persie threatened to kill off the art of the Fantasy Football captaincy in previous seasons, Luis Suarez is doing all he can to remove the skill and insight required to make that crucial decision each week.

Quite frankly, it’s a brave Fantasy manager that overlooks Suarez. Even on an off-day, his threat to the opposition is so substantial, Suarez almost accumulates points almost through force of will. Today, against West Ham, the Liverpool striker produced a far from vintage display – missing opportunities and being phased out of the match by some disciplined early defending from the visitors.

However, a fortuitous own goal, from which Suarez earned one of two assists, handed Liverpool their opener and that paved the way for another comfortable Anfield victory and another double figure Fantasy Premier League (FPL) points haul for Suarez.

While Aguero, the nearest rival to Suarez’s claim for the armband, notched once again, Suarez is set to outscore him with a sixth double figure points tally in ten league starts. Fourteen league goals and seven assists, over those matches underlines the fact that Suarez is as near to an essential Fantasy asset as any player is likely to become this season.

The Underused

Leroy Fer’s third league goal in five starts must surely bring him to the attention of the Fantasy masses. While we’ve long been acquainted with the erratic returns of team-mate Robert Snodgrass and the budget potential of the tricky Nathan Redmond, it’s Fer who appears to carry the greatest potential for points amongst Chris Hughton’s inconsistent charges.

Owned by less than 1% of FPL managers, the Dutchman’s raids from midfield have been a recent feature of the Canaries play – a benefit of a formation change from Hughton that has fielded Bradley Johnson and Jonny Howson in central midfield, allowing Fer the freedom to support the lone striker. That’s brought three goals for and, even with a price tag of 5.8 in the FPL, it’s surely time to consider Fer as a credible short-term option as Norwich embark on a run of three home fixtures in four: Swansea, Fulham and a beleaguered United due at Carrow Road before the turn of the year.

André Schürrle was the day’s other big points scorer, although his brace at Stoke was not enough to prevent Jose Mourinho’s side slipping to a damaging 3-2 setback. At just 7.1 in the FPL, we’ve long looked upon the German as a potential differential who could offer value as the season progresses. While today’s haul was his biggest of the season, it was also his first league start in six as Mourinho’s midfield continues to tease and toy with Fantasy managers attempting to identify alternatives to the established targets – Oscar and Eden Hazard. In truth, it seems unlikely that we will ever get assurance of a third candidate, even Frank Lampard was rested back to the bench today to frustrate his recent investors.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I hate it when I do stupid transfer. Did a 12 pointer last week in a moment of insanity

    Oscar to Haz
    Evans to Ward
    Nastasic to Chester
    Giroud to Luka.

    Evans to ward worked out.
Nasty to chester was to save money. Im fine with that hit.
Lukaku will be captain next week. Gerrard will be my transfer this week. Worked out ok.
Has to Oscar. Sideways knee jerk!

No idea about the length of the injury mate. Yes I do reckon that had he stayed on, he probably could have outscored Suarez.
At least I still got a green. Takes me to 1.6k.

Suarez (c) right now would have meant a 700 odd rank.

Swings and roundabouts :D. No complaints.

I think its a good time (pages are not moving fast) to try to find out how some of you feel about current price rise/drop system and how does it affect FPL game in general.
Would you mind sharing your ideas on what kind of system you would like to see and pros/cons it would have.
Mind you I'm new to FPL as this is my 3rd season only and I do not know how it was back in the days but here is I would like to see change.

Current daily limit of 0.1 (regardless of amount of transfers) on price rise/drop
+ it allows managers to wait a bit longer when it comes to buying/selling particular player
+/- more players will be able to get on bandwagons such as Ramsey later in particular week as well as in long term
          - casual/semi-casual "Friday players" are rewarded more as they will not be priced out of certain players
          - managers that are willing to take more risk in moving faster in their transfers have less to gain or more to lose (depending on transfer outcome), this is lose/lose situation

Was there a time back in the days that there was no 0.3 price cap and how did you find it?
I think I would like this to change for at least one season 🙂

With no cap, price changes would be utterly ridiculous. Ramsey would have risen even more and Suarez would probably be well over 13m by now. The caps prevent wild fluctuations in prices which is as it should be imo.

I feel gutted , take a 4pts hit for wally-gerrard and my transfer didnt pay off cause of gerrard injuee

I still think that was a spot on transfer cause gerrrard easily could score 10 if he didnt pick up an injury

Knowing my luck wally will score today and now i have to waste adittional ft to get rid of gerrard

But ill take some positives...olsson and ward cs came in and team looks very good now

Also somehow with 12 pts hit i didnt dropp in ranking

Look at fhe fixtures you now have to enjoy.

I only have 1 FT to change either Migs or GJ (already have Coleman).

My thinking is tough fixtures for pool: save points more likely than attacking output from GJ and likely CS for Everton means more likely baps for jags than Howard.

Indeed. Can't decide whether RVPs return and the partnership back in place means Rooney's returns increase or whether RVP steals Rooney's points.

There's some comfort in having the more expensive Rooney, but I'm a big fan of Luka and he is captain material for next week when Suarez and Aggy both have tough fixtures.

I have Suarez, Aguero, Rooney but I have to say going without Lukaku makes me nervous. Problem is the only one I'd want to sell is Aguero but then wouldn't be able to afford to buy him back.

I think Lukaku's performances vs Rooneys and Agueros over the next few weeks could go a long way to shaping peoples seasons.

          Just hope Lukaku bombs 😉
