An upturn in form by Palace’s former Villa man and a certain enigmatic Bulgarian over at Craven Cottage come under the spotlight this evening. Tottenham’s improvement in front of goal and United’s faltering home form are also picked apart in our latest review of the statistics from the weekend and beyond:
-
Which to start from Brady, Mutch or Dawson this week?
Open Controls-
Surely Mutch
Open Controls

I really need to drop some Southampton players; as they're taking 3 spots.
Which of the 3 should I drop next week and for which player?
Fonte, Lovren
Lallana
I currently also have:
Distin, Jagielka, Baker
Yaya, Ramsey, Bacuna, Meyler
Cheers!Open Controls-
I would go Lovren/Fonte to uber cheap, Chester maybe.
Then use the money next week for your midfield.Open Controls-
Thanks; I currently have 0.3m in the bank. If I select Chester; what would be a good midfielder option (in two weeks; or by risking 0.4m) from these price points?
A) Remove Fonte & Lallana = 8.3m midfielder.
B) Remove Lovren & Lallana = 8.7m midfielder.
C) Keep Lallana and drop Meyler = 5.9m - 6.3m midfielder.Open Controls

SARL is becoming boring. Hope a couple falter.

Am planning to get Silva in but missed the whole game yesterday because... well, I fell asleep.
How did he look? I saw he scored one, was it good or more of a fluke? What position did he play?
Would really appreciate if someone could give me a reply.Open Controls-
For Goaldigger and Blue Lion: Silva was excellent, playing as an advanced midfielder, and really pushed to get that goal (short cross from milner across the front the of the danger zone by the keeper). That said, he was hauled off at something like 70 minutes, so I think Mancini is being careful with him.
Expect Nasri to start with Silva on the bench, but someone could lose their place over the coming weeks to accommodate Silva into the first team again.Open Controls
-
Bringing in a mid this week for Sess, was all set to bring Hazard in, but Silva's return to fitness has me thinking...
Open Controls-
-
I am tipping City to tear Arsenal apart.
Open Controls
-
-
-
good to go for next gamewk???
Marshall
Rosenior, Coleman, Demel
Hazard, Ramsey, Nasri, Mirallas
Aguero, Lukaku(c), Suarez
Harper, Jwp, Dawson, ChicoOpen Controls-
I doubt Rosenior will play. Can you do Dawson to Distan for free?
If not looks v good otherwise.Open Controls
-
-
Comparison Tool;
Lukaku (Home) vs Suarez (Away) - not what I expected!Open Controls-
I know, the difference in the size of their front teeth is staggering
Open Controls -
-
Suarez is the comparison tool king though, so even if Lukaku was the better option I expected Suarez to look better on paper.
Open Controls
-
-
Very close I would say but when you factor in opposition, I think Lukaku will score more.
Now do Lukaku (home) vs. Aguero (home)
Aguero (c)Open Controls-
Now do shots and goals conceded Fulham away versus Arsenal away.
Lukaku (c)Open Controls-
We could do this all week, captaincy this GW is a proper head-scratcher
Open Controls-
Indeed
Open Controls
-
-
Yeah, on balance it's a lot closer than the home comparison suggests, but I don't trust Lukaku
Open Controls -
Now do "old" Fulham versus "new" Fulham
Aguero (c)Open Controls-
Good point, new manager and that. I wonder if Everton will be a bit complacent
Open Controls -
So is 1-2 games against teams who have been average going forward all season enough to judge a team as a 'new' side?
Open Controls
-
-
-
I can't captain Aguero. But even if I weren't an Arsenal supporter I still wouldn't do it, though his home form is insane.
Open Controls-
That shouldn't influence your FPL captaincy pick. If anything, it means you will have something to cheer about when Arsenal inevitibly get smashed
Open Controls-
Ignoring the little bait you threw out there I don't think it's a big deal, it's not as if I always captain Arsenal players or bench people against them, just would never captain anyone against them.
Open Controls-
Fair enough! In the old days when City were rubbish, I used to do the same... I'm not saying Arsenal are rubbish by the way, just that I see what you mean
Open Controls
-
-
-
-
Now click "Team Stats" > "Defending"
and check out Arsenal's impressive defensive stats. Shots conceded in the box is a good'un.Open Controls-
Yeah, I know it's not so simple, but Arsenal's defence won't prove too much of an obstacle for City I think
Open Controls
-
-
I'm captaining Aguero over Suarez this week based on his home vs away form. I think I'd take Lukaku over Suarez this week too.
Open Controls -
Factor in the lack of chances created by everton, Man City scoring at least 2 in every home match and Aguero being clinical= Aguero (c)
Open Controls
-
-
Gerrard >
A. Silva (have Aguero)
B. Oscar (have Hazard)
C. Coutinho (have Gerrard)
D. Walcott (have Giroud & Ramsey)
Vote now to win a mince pie.......Open Controls-
C. As technically you don't have Gerrard as he's knackered for 6 weeks.
Open Controls -
(have Gerrard) 😆
May as well see how the Chelsea game goes and see how many minutes Oscar plays.Open Controls-
Yeah was meant to be Suarez 😛 rushing with my posts as heading to the gym in 5 mins.
And your answer is JOA?Open Controls-
Oh yeah and just read the rest of your reply......so Oscar maybe?
Open Controls-
Think he's the best option this week, Coutinho 3 potentially tough away fixtures in the next 4. Walcott yet to start and his next 2 are tough.
Oscar or Silva at this stage, longer term Silva or Walcott.Open Controls

-

You can always downgrade...
Out of those I would go silva. Getting him myself next weekOpen Controls -

😉
What you reckon Fitzy? Need a mince pie? Give us an answer 😀Open Controls

Oh, and thanks for that link Berbilly
Open Controls-
No problem, was just watching it myself.

Do people expect Silva to start on the weekend?
70 odd mins last night - TICK
Scored a brave goal and (according to TalkSport) looked very good - TICK
Pellegrini insisting twice (post match) that he isnt ready to play more than 70mins and sounding cautious about bringing him back to early after 5 weeks out - CROSS
I'd be happy with another 70mins on Sat i think...Open Controls -
Juve will definitely lose this afternoon
Worth a bet if you can
Had to change hotels, got stuck in traffic, in Istanbul(hell)
Can see this being us out. 🙁Open Controls -
Thinking of shifting Clyne this week.. best 4.5m replacement in your opinion? (Have Mertesacker, Debuchy, BTurner & Gabbidon).
Worth a hit to get Coleman / other? No pressing issues in midfield and can't ditch Aguero / Rooney / Suarez up front for Lukaku.Open Controls-
Have you got a Cardiff or Palace defender? If so a defender from the one you haven't got.
Open Controls
-
-
-
Do we expect Silva to start? Do we expect Nasri to start? Who will drop out?
Open Controls-
Navas got 90 mins yesterday. It should be Nasri and Silva flanking Kun and Negredo.

Uruguay have got a devastating strikeforce but rubbish defence this is how we should line up against them 3-4-3
Hart
Cahill-dawson-jones
Glen johnson -carrick-gerrard- cole
Walcott-sturridge-rooney
Keep countering with pace gerrard and carrick sitting back
3 defenders taking care of cavani and suarez tooOpen Controls-
😆

@ JoA - looks like we've got Zabs nailed on for the rest of the month 😎
Open Controls-
It looks like I sold him for Coleman 😎 🙁
Open Controls-
😯 fair one.....tbh, I'd have sold him ages ago if I didn't have a million other things to sort.
Open Controls-
I had a look at their fixtures - ARS ful LIV CPL swa
Not too bad but I figured CPL was the perfect time for Richards to come in at RB so I thought ARS ful LIV swa in 5 GW's wasn't too promising. Hopefully Richards isn't out for too long 😉Open Controls

With Silva returning, and City beating Bayern at home without key players (confidence boost) Aguero (c) looks more appealing. Arsenal are solid so I don't see them conceding more than 2. But again if that happens there's a big chance its an aguero brace 🙂 . Still I am leaning more towards Lukaku (c). 1 CS for fulham against a poor team is hardly a "new fulham". Damn its a difficult choice this week 🙂
Open Controls -
OK, this worries me:
https://twitter.com/footballfactman/status/410674527384109056
Lukaku(C) not looking quite as great now.Open Controls-
How many weeks is that based on, or is it all season?
The other captaincy options (Aguero/Suarez) have apparently over-performed according to that table though!Open Controls-
All season, I think. Looks like it doesn't include the Arsenal game.
That's true, but they're still in the top 4 for chance creation, which is the issue. Everton aren't creating a lot of chances. Still, Fulham on the road ...Open Controls-
Remember Martinez a few weeks ago though? After the Palace game he said something along the lines of "The lack of goals is my fault" and that they'd work on it, after that I think they got 7 goals in their next 2 home games!
Open Controls-
I didn't hear him say that. If I had, I might not have shipped Lukaku out after Palace (and then immediately back again after his brace V Liverpool 👿 )
Open Controls-
lol. I ditched him as well, luckily I had Rooney for his two double figure hauls.
The Palace game convinced me to ditch - but as I set up my team for that week post update before the games were played, Lukaku vs Liverpool was my captain. So I went from captaining, to selling, to buying back within a few days 😆Open Controls
-
-
-
-
Looking at the members area, if you go by the last 4 weeks, they're third for chances created. And that's against Arsenal, United and Liverpool.
Feeling better now 😀Open Controls-
Haha I was just looking now. Also 4th for "Big chances" and 3rd for goal attempts!
(also its the 4 games since Martinez's comments - makes you wonder what he was doing the opening 12 weeks!)Open Controls
-
-

A) Hazard+JWP
Or,
B)Oscar+Ravel
Which one to get ???Open Controls -
Anyone know if Brady was dropped or rested Monday night?
Open Controls-
lol
Open Controls

Can anyone tell me how it snows in turkey
I was there for ages and it was boiling lolOpen Controls -
With so many going for a "differential" away from Suarez (C) he could be the man to captain to boost your ranking 🙂
I remember captaining RVP when others tried to be cheeky would often pay off, and Suarez is in much better form than RVP has probably ever been in!Open Controls-
Spurs are nothing to shout at when it comes to defence. They got smashed by westham 3 - 0. Suarez's form is undeniable.
Going with the safe pick. Captaincy choice has bitten me enough.Open Controls-
Cue suarez Blank, Aguero Hazard Rooney hatties.
Open Controls-
Perfect.
I have all of those.Open Controls
-
-
Where are you ranked though? Safe pick is not the always best when you are trying to catch up!
Open Controls
-
-
Open Controls
-
He is also much better than RVP has ever been.
Nevertheless, there's also the obvious option of captaining the in form big hitter with home game against a bottom of the league club.Open Controls
-
-
does anybody know why in UCL substitutions are closed? Why I can't make changes in my team for tonight evening?
Open Controls-
Seemed the Juve game has made subs impossible until the game is over at 16.00 CET.
Open Controls

Gerrard > Silva?
Open Controls -
Krul or Ruddy?
Open Controls -
Ben foster to jump straight back in or will Myhill stay?
Open Controls-
Foster should be back quite quick I'd imagine.
West Brom's defensive stats are right up there with the best. And yet have still conceded frequently. Surely that means the goalkeeper is likely to be the one to blame?Open Controls-
Myhill has actually played exceptionally well. I would put it down to bad luck. But then again thats all i have had this season
