Manchester United and Manchester City are two teams worth £750m*, and realistically the only competition they have a shot of winning this season, is the FA cup.

    Poor.

*no idea how much they're worth, just know it's a lot.

It's a fair point Mupps. Probably a little harsh on United given they have no European football to play and racked up injuries in the league but still you'd think they'd be more competitive.

Moyes took a team of champions and turned them into chumps. LvG has now been tasked with rebuilding the squad and their confidence.

It's not comparable. Moyes was pure sh!t in every way.

Moyes took over a squad which was not very good and was held together by an inspirational RVP and exceptional manager. He was undermined from day 1 by lack of support in the way of signings and then by the players. If he had been given the same budget and support he would have been able to put more of "his" players in and would have been a more powerful figure in the dressing room. I fail to see how LVG is doing better.

I seem to remember LVG took an extended break after the world cup too and was therefore responsible for not making signings early enough in the summer and therefore responsible for utd gelling as early as they could which in turn led to utd starting this season even worse than last yr.

hard to discuss di maria as he is simultaneously getting lucky and unlucky imo. 3 goals 5 assists of which 3 of the assists were filth, another was a looping ball which was no danger until fellaini plucked it out the sky and outrageously made it an assist, and today where a keeper howler made his little ball to mata an assist too. plus his first goal of course.
BUT, every time i watch him he's whipping in crosses and corners or releasing van persie with crazy arcing through-balls/dinks which are all assist worthy. really think there is so much more to come assist wise, but maybe i'm falling into the trap there of trusting the man utd strikers to do what ronaldo/benzema/bale/messi/higuain/aguero do for his other clubs. his europe leading 17 opta assists last season was even more impressive as he only got 2 in madrid's first 16 league games

Di Maria is a class act. He tries to take as many corners and set pieces as possible. His crosses are pin-point too. With Falcao back Utd will shape up better.

I'm more concerned about his goal threat. His only shots at goal seem to be long shots. I seriously don't think he's worth it on assist potential alone. United just aren't scoring enough goals to justify such an expensive assister.

At the start of the season I thought he was going to be another Modric, i.e. class player but no use in fantasy land as he's generally just assisting the assister. He's proved me wrong so far but I do think he's slightly overpriced and is the one I'm currently most seriously considering downgrading to find the funds for Aguero.

Downing looks like the best West Ham option with Carroll back. Might downgrade Di Maria or Fabregas to him and upgrade Welbeck to Costa.

It'd be funny if Carroll turned out to be the best pick after his endless let downs...but then that's where Downing came in...Funny old game Footy...

    Bego (Myhill)
    Clyne, Baines, Cahill (Hutton,Wisdom)
    ADM, HAz, Siggy, Sanchez (Boyd)
    Costa, Pelle, Naismith

    Finger on the trigger for...??

    A - Cahill/ADM/Naismith OUT Dummett/Wanyama/Aguero IN (-4pts)
    B - Cahill/Naismith OUT Dummett/Austin IN ??

was undroppable in previous form. if he does bad carroll will be a bigger threat, but no one will have bought thinking he'll do bad

Carroll sucks and Sakho has been great. No reason Carroll should get his place back. West Ham has played their beat football for years without him.

Indeed. If he drops Sakho for Carroll he should get the sack immediately.

he hasn't brought nolan in yet so i think there is some hope that he wont throw carroll in undeservedly right away. nolan and carroll were his undoubted favourites, plus the carroll price tag bearing down on allardyce

    Foster - Krul
    Baines - Clyne - PVA - Naylor - Coloccini
    Hazard - Eriksen - Downing - Siggy - JWP
    Costa - Pelle - Rooney

Should I just wildcard? Aguero seems essential.

I have Pelle, Costa and Fabregas, who all have 4 YC. This week I'm looking at downgrading Henderson (5th mid), is it smart to do Henderson > Jedinak now then Jedinak can fill in for games those 3 miss, then once yellow cards clear up swap him to Boyd/Sanchez? or is it easier to do it to Boyd/Sanchez right now?

If this was your front 8 in GW13, who would you bench?

    Fabregas(sun), Oscar(sun), Sterling(STO), ADM(HUL), Downing(wba)
    Aguero(sou), Pelle(MCI), Austin(LEI)

Perhaps Pelle or Fabregas will get their 5th yellow next GW to save me a headache if my transfers get me this team! 😛
