We turn our attentions to the player Key Performance Indicator (KPI) statistics once again in our latest members’ article. Having assessed the form of Forwards over the last four Gameweeks compared to the first seven rounds of fixtures late last week, we now turn our attentions to the men in midfield.

For the unfamiliar, these Key Performers Indicator (KPI) tables use a series of key stats to allow our members to track a trend in player performance as a guide to their form. By tracking the frequency of certain key statistics, such as minutes per chance, and comparing them over two separate periods of time, we can ascertain patterns of improvement or decline in these areas. For those unfamiliar, we’ve rolled out a preview movie which shows just how to get the best out of the KPI tables.

Should I trade out Di Maria or Cesc? Already have two other Chelsea players, but ADM is my only player from utd.

    Cheers!!

I'm actually looking at using my WC, my team would look like this:

        Courtois
        Baines, Naylor, Dummett,
Sanchez, ADM or Cesc, Siggy, Downing
        Aguero, Costa, Sakho
        ______________________________________

        BENCH: Krul, Wanyama, Wisdom, Duff

Need to downgrade one of these players to fund Baines and Aguero especially

Not dissimilar to my team, so I like it naturally 🙂

I think Di Maria makes more sense, at least with his upcoming 2 home games after Arsenal. If he doesn't perform in those 2 then you can always downgrade

Getting little obsessed about this price changing system....

Downing owned by 480k managers, needs 89k more transfers for 2nd rise.
Austin was owned by 64k managers after his first rise and needs 94k more transfers for 2nd rise.

    Time to give up.

Same here, since they all went haywire I've just made transfers for FPL reasons and forgotten about price changes. Although, looking at my TV that may have been a mistake!

Aye my TV is low too. But then I prefer waiting until last minute to make changes just incase there are injuries. I might start looking if there's a transfer I can only make if prices don't change.

could it be that the price rise/fall calculation is based off a function of the original price of the player?

Case in point, Downing started out at 5.5m and Austin at 6.0m, so it is much easier (require less net transfers in) for Austin to 'recover' to his original price level than for Downing to rise beyond his.

      Just thinking out loud...

      1. Qubit
        • 16 Years
        11 years, 3 months ago

Could be. I still think there's a random element involved. My original thought was that once past a certain threshold it was then random as whether the price rise occurred.

    3. Bolivian Seaman
      • 15 Years
      11 years, 3 months ago

Price changes, especially rises is certainly most dependent on Rate of Transfers In. Austin won't need 94k more to rise, he will need maybe 30-40k over a very short period of time imo

    4. rickardinho
      • 11 Years
      11 years, 3 months ago

Price changes play a crucial role though. For example, if I had done Sterling>Sanchez two weeks ago I would have been able to do Pelle>Costa now without downgrading Siggy to Boyd. I missed the ADM and Sanchez bandwagons but in hindsight I think I'm worse off for it, both in terms of TV (by around 1.5-2m) but also due to points as those players were in form.

If I'd have captained the most obvious/popular picks each week, rather than taking punts, I would be ranked within the top 100 odd. If I had got them 90% correct I would be #1.

I'd be comfortably in the Top 10k if I had done Lovren>Baines (-4) a week earlier instead of sticking to the good fixtures (ie. Lovren(qpr) vs Baines(AVL)) . As it happened Lovren was 3 mins away from a CS+3baps but ended up on 1, while Baines got 15. Such fine margins in this game.

I would definitely be number 1 if I had picked all the right players at the start, captained the highest scoring player every week, stuck with the consistent performers and transferred differential players in just before getting big hauls. Oh, and never transferred out Costa.

Plot thickens. 😐 I may have to hold my fire on Pelle ➡ Costa for free now that Tadic is injured. If he's confirmed out or remains doubtful these are my 3 choices.

    A) Tadic ➡ Oscar/Sterling (free)
    B) Tadic ➡ Siggy & Welbeck ➡ Costa (-4)
    C) Tadic ➡ Sanchez & Welbeck ➡ Austin (-4)

I like B but may be 1 week early to get in Siggy. Already have Chadli & Downing.

Is there no-one at all considering James Collins for 4.5m?

Great fixtures, team playing well, and a great price.

I suppose it's because you expect Tomkins to regain his place, but Collins has started the last four, two of which Tomkins has been fit for.

It still looks to be a gamble Ludo. I've had far too many this year that have played well for a few weeks, only for them to be replaced again the minute I get them in.

I'd rather make one major player sacrifice and spread the money between 4-5 nailed on mid and minor players.

Think Caulker at 4.7 is a better deal tbh. 100% nailed, aerial threat, fixtures, rotation... all things considered he's a better choice imo. Only Cresswell and Adrian and perhaps Reid are really investable assets really.

Except the most important thing... West Ham's CS potential vs QPR's - no contest there IMO.

There's also the fact that Collins is the cheapest route into the Hammers defence, whilst you can save 0.8m on Caulker if you get Yun instead.

Of course, if Collins loses that spot again, this is all irrelevant. Thought he was worth considering, that's all.

        1. rickardinho
          • 11 Years

          Valid points.

Yun is away most of January though, so unless you want to play your Jan-WC early or use another FT to get him out you're essentially buying a non-playing defender for half the time you'll need him.

Collins is a rotation risk, so whilst WHM are better value for CS's normally, he is worthless if Tomkins gets his place back - which could be any GW, so you'd be nervous going into every single lineup announcement.

QPR play LEI BUR WBA CPL in their next 4 home games, and those teams suck at defending set pieces... so queue a Caulker goal or two,

And regarding CS's, qpr aren't horrible at home defensively, they've just had tough fixtures. See Hull(0-1), Sunderland (1-0), and Villa(2-0)...

Shawcross, though he has bad fixtures.

Consider Lovren or Moreno. People will bash them but they haven't been that bad defensively recently (5GA in 5, including games at Madrid and vs Chelsea). They have impeccable fixtures too until Feb.

Interesting stat though...both are very well matched.

Baines has higher assist potential, but Coleman has got qutie the goal threat, which translates to assist potential as well through his shots(not even considering crosses yet)

But then Baines has penos and FKS...but then again how often do you score FKs or get penos?

I think Coleman's potential is higher than Baines's, he's just got that genuine goalscoring ability.

The appeal of Baines is the consistency, penalties almost guarantee him goals, whilst his crossing ability from set pieces and open play give him more ways of scoring points.

In Baines' last 20 at home:

          5 goals, 8 assists, 8 CS.

Pretty great as well! Not as good as Coleman, given you get twice as many points for a goal as for an assist, but given Baines greater BPS ability, there's basically nothing in it there.

If I can find 0.3 I may be tempted to do Clyne>Coleman though.

          Own Goals?

Good suggestion, though there's more players with -100%+ than OG's have been scored so I doubt it. The goals column doesn't count OG's either, that has its own column (ie. Costa won't suddenly drop from 10 to 9 goals scored just because he scores an OG). Skrtel was on 7 goals last season but would only have been on 3 if the og's were counted like that:P

Yeah thats the case with the positive increases.. like 5 shots per game to 15 shots per game is a 200% increase.. but a decrease from 5 shots per game to 0 shots per game wouldn't be more than a 100% decrease... is the guy taking a negative amount of shots?

I think green shows above average percentage performance and red shows below average...like if you see Goal attempts in box of Yaya Toure and then the column next to it...it will be very clear why not to select him..

    5. rickardinho

If a player had 10 Chances in the last 4 GW's (which is the selected period chosen here) compared to 5 Chances in the Gw's before, his Chances number will show a 100% increase.

It effectively shows statistical trends, and is a very useful tool for seeing who is in form and who's form is dwindling.

You should take it with a pinch of salt though. Fixtures might make a big difference to these numbers - like for example Oscar shooting less, which is down to playing away to both United and Liverpool (after having easier fixtures before that). Caulker's headers on target are also down recently due to playing City, Chelsea, and Liverpool in the last 4, but that doesn't mean that he's a worse choice because his numbers are likely to be red on here.

Do Tadic,Ulloa - Pelle and one 4.9 center?

I actually thought Riviere would do well! Lucky I didn't get on though 😛

Given Wickhams form last season, he was a pretty good pick!

In that case, I'm a conventional player, so nothing flashy that really worked me. Maybe Haz (C) in GW2 instead of Costa. That week I got Jovetic too 🙂

But my crazy, depressing moments? Lots of them. Haz (c) in GW4 instead of hattrick-hero Costa, and starting the game with Caulker & Young instead of Chester and Siggy. Instant hit 😆

      Bojan GW1

Siggy>Oscar was pretty puntish too but should pay off I hope (even though im doing tadic>siggy next week)

I should say that I don't really do "punts" though. Every decision I make is based on statistics. Getting Downing in GW7 might be considered a punt by many, but it was purely based on stats and seeing him play well.

    Hey lads,

Just trying to give the Scout Picks challenge a nice interest boost.

Please vote for the team you think will represent the community best.

Here's a link to the actual post where you can view all the teams, and not directed to a particular team(like some people have done 😉 ):

In fairness I asked this yesterday and the consensus was to canvas away. This is a link to that comment, not my team btw 😉

All that said, not once have I posted that ppl should vote for my team only and have always said for ppl to genuinely pick the team they think will do best for the community.

I'm just messing with you mate, I really don't mind canvassing! Even if it's for a particular team.

I never actually mentioned your name though, so you've just hurt yourself 😉

😆 Better to be upfront than to lurk in the shadows!

I did genuinely just go with what I was told as it's my first stab at the Community team.

Looks like we're both gonna be beaten by a head though 🙂

    Aguero or Costa captain?

Im thinking with City playing Munich midweek, Aguero will be used with caution or perhaps the same could be said with Costa

Aguero for me even with CL. Swansea at home isn't a easy walk over...in terms of winning. Scoring goals is another matter.

  25. jaredwilliams

    Forster
    Baines Chambers Clyne
    Fabregas Sanchez Siggy Chadli
    Aguero Pelle Sakho

    McCarthy Downing Wisdom Moore

    Few things I'm thinking:

    a) Is it best just to wait for news on Baines/Fab ??

    b) Gotta move Southampton boys on

    c) Would like Costa

    Any opinions appreciated..

Not nailed on. But given the tough schedule coming up I'd imagine he will be playing very frequently alongside Schneiderlin.

Anyone tempted by getting in Ayoze as a punt?

Fab & Pelle --> Alexis & Ayoze for free

    current frontline:
    ADM/Fab/Downy/Siggy
    Costa/Kun/Pelle

    1. President John F. Keninnsie
      • 12 Years
      11 years, 3 months ago

Austin and Sakho would be more reliable. Ayoze is a rotation risk with Cisse, although he's pretty much guaranteed to start next week.

      1. Sebbo29
        • 11 Years
        11 years, 3 months ago

yeah thanks Innsie, just thinking of getting him in for this week only and then switching to Sakho or Austin next week

          • 12 Years
          11 years, 3 months ago

It's not worth the extra transfer I reckon. Something could come up such as an injury which would mean you'd have to use that transfer elsewhere, and Sakho/Austin could easily outscore Ayoze this week too.

As a one week punt it's probably worth it, but I it's effectively taking up 2 transfers over the next 2-3 weeks - personally, I don't have that luxury

  30. jaredwilliams
    • 11 Years
    11 years, 3 months ago

Who would you sell first out of Sig/Chadli/Downing. Having one on my bench each week so I'm going to ship one for Boyd just don't know who. Leaning toward Chadli.

Also, is Fabianski/Naylor/Siggy too much Swans? Better to go Guzan with their run or spend some coin to get Courtois?

    1. jaredwilliams
      • 11 Years
      11 years, 3 months ago

Or is it good to have one of those as a 5th mid option in case Fab/Aguero/Costa get rested or suspended.

      1. Kurtinho
        • 11 Years
        11 years, 3 months ago

Waste of resources. I'd personally get rid of Downing but if you need the extra cash then downgrade Chadli.
