Granville and I make a New Year return to the ScoutCast studio, battered and bruised by the events of Gameweek 20 which saw us both inexplicably bench Harry Kane and his 18-point haul.

Having wasted our big differential and haunted by constant reminders, my co-host and I struggle to make a recovery. Spitting the pips from our sour grapes, we do our best to justify our doomed decision-making, before attempting to salve the wounds with talk of the Winter Wildcard refresh around the usual batch of regulars.

    Will Hamer keep his starting spot once Schmeichel is healthy in a few weeks? He'd rotate nicely with Pantilimon if he's going to keep playing, but I don't trust Sunderland enough to go with Pants as my only playing keeper.

    Planning to use my wildcard after this weeks fixtures. Got a part of my team done, confused on the rest.

    Krul / Heaton
    Azpi / Clyne / Hutton / PvA / ----
    ADM / Hazard / Sanchez / ---- / ----
    Aguero / Kane / ----

    27.3 ITB.

    Would upgrade Azpi to Cahill/Terry if I end up having cash.

    I want a forward line of Austin / Kane / Aguero. Debating on whether to go 5 big mids though. Want to be able to draft in Theo when the time is right. Wondering whether to keep Fabregas till then.

        That's the big confusion. Actually getting tempted for 5 big hitters in midfield but feel like that's overcompensating.

          Then we will have a very, very similar WC team. 😉

          ADM or Chadli imo since we're keeping Kane. Can't lose Sanchez Fab and Haz. however, you'll end up with benching hadache. It's either Chadli or ADM + Boyd for me.

              Going with something similar myself. Maybe a rotating keeper. Not sure yet. Don't fancy Duff. Has competition for his place and Burnleys fixtures in Feb onwards are terrible

                In fact, Duff was a typo. It's actually Dummett. Not that he's that much better!

                Yes, with 0.7m ITB, I probably do have enough to rotate keeper or upgrade a defender so will ponder that.

                I'm just thinking that it's probably best to play the WC for GW22 rather than for GW23 given I'm bringing in Alderweireld, ADM and potentially Pellè?

                  If you're team is fairly set and your new players will have better fixtures a week early then yes pull the trigger. Right now Im waiting to see what Aguero does, how Falcao and Walcott play and what Pulis brings to Brom. May be worth hodling off another week but if things look fairly set in stone make your moves and capitalise on the better fixtures

                    The advantage of playing WC for GW22 or GW23 are very, very marginal. I'll make a call next week, like you suggested to see whether it's best holding off one more week.

                    Main things are whether I need an extra WBA def, and also willing to miss out on ADM vs QPR (H), Downing vs. HUL (H) and potentially Baines vs WBA (H)!

                      No worries mate. Aguero is the clincher for me I feel. If he comes off the bench and scores this weekend his price will shoot up. May be forced to get him in which wouldnt be ideal for me as a lot of my replacements on WC dont have great fixtures next week. Including Aguero lol

      Nice Okore punt, but will he be assured a start when the Villa defence are all fit? Otherwise, looking very template (no offence intended by that; could be a good thing)

      Considered him highly before his GW7 13 pts haul. Got trashed here back then.

      On some CKs as well so yeah he's good. But I see some similarly-priced players like Chadli Siggy and Downing are more tempting.

    Will wait to get Aguero after Chelsea match, and that means i'm giving RvP and Costa 3 game to play and to chose which one to get rid gor Kun. Its probably going to be Costa because he just dont get any 10+ point hauls any more and is every game so close to a red card that i dont consider him capitan option any more, and pretty soon he's goin to get 10th yellow and 2 game ban.
    Also, in defence i'm going with PvA and Trip combo for 3rd spot for a while hoping that they could prove as nice differentials with thier nice fixtures and atacking potential. Rest of the team is pretty standard.

    Going to start off by saying I have Kane and think he's great value, a bandwagon that we can't ignore.

    However, he will not score 18 points evry week. Tottenham won't score 5 every week. Given the few chances he had last week (members look at the stats) he was insanely lucky to get the score he did.

    If he doesn't produce in the next few weeks, what's your bail out plan, especially for those that bought him cheap and therefore may be reluctant to get rid - or will you hold regardless?
