Defence is gash, but the forward line looks very strong. Great options for captains.

Why Courtouis? Still injured no? I'd rather go with cheaper gk and Che defender. Same front 8 as me though with the exception of Marney

I can't afford, mate. I've played the number game so poorly - as this is my first season. so, Courtois & Fonte is cheaper than Forster & Azpi/Cahill/Terry.

& Courtois could be back soon. 2 weeks before he plays next. hoping he recuperates by then

Agreed. He is attacking... But he is rarely going to be part of that starting XI. Ivanovic and Clyne will start always. Chester and Chambers has some good games too.
P.S. Can you please recommend a "out of the box" forward and a midfielder, only for this week. 17.3m is budget 🙂 Thanks!

Stoke have such a kind run you could maybe go just Bego and save a million on Fab downgrade? I like Chester, will be bringing him in in 2 weeks, but I think Chambers may rotate with Bellerin, especially for the easy home games. 2 Spurs would also be a worry, a la yesterday and countless other matches where they flatter to deceive.

Is there a cheaper alternative to cover the odd game you'll need Bego cover? The money could come in handy somewhen.

They are indeed awesome fixtures, but that'll make the blanks even more heartbreaking when they inevitably happen.

Surprised about all the Kun talk seeing as he could easily hobble off again today. Good team imo, lots of options in attack. Keep an eye on which second Arsenal midfielder you want to own, nothing against Caz but he may find himself getting fewer minutes. Of course if that happens there'll be no other one you could really afford but plenty of options elsewhere!

Probably the worst goalkeeper combo possible! Both defences are muck! Ignore fixtures for crap defences. They don't suddenly become good defences over night. How many clean sheets has begovic all season? I got one out of him for first 9 or 10 weeks I think for his great fixtures. Just pick Forster or de gea and 4.0 or go panti and another cheap keeper. Panti great fixtures too.

As for no aguero, I suspect it's a windup!

Fantasy Football Scout daily hot topic

    UFPL Stick or Twist

Which players failed for you yesterday and which players do you have coming in?

Any Costa captainers? Guessing you are sticking. What about Kane/Hazard/Fabregas captainers - who are you sticking the armband on?

I went for Kane so easy swap to Aguero. Got Naismith as last chance saloon m3 captain if that fails. Must admit I'm enjoying the transfer window - really good to get rid of all my red flagged players - and have a playing goal keeper for the first time in weeks.

Captained Di Maria which was a fail, also bought in double Southampton defence which failed..

Have Aguero, Sanchez, Downing, Kos coming in today for Rooney, Kane, Boyd, Bertrand.

Split on who to captain today, currently on Sanchez but really tempted by Downing.. Aguero too but worried about his minutes..

Stick on Costa for definite. Have aguero but hope he blanks. Dropped 33 place to 43rd last week but yesterday recovered some of that and currently lie in 30th.

Only 1 transfer made from January's allocation so far so hoping that will stand to me long term

I really despair when I see people planning on getting rid of Di Maria. He was in the World team of the Year and was Argentina's sports person of the year amongst other things. Why would you judge such a highly regarded player on two games after injury? If Aguro blanks today will people get rid of him because that will be his second game back, the same as Di Maria? I dont think so. Di Maria improved rapidly on last week, members can compare the stats. Give Di Maria some time and if he doesn't perform by all means get rid but now is not the time. If the footballing world think he is good enough for the team of the year then surely he can have a few weeks in our FPL teams.

Problem is he's playing out of position. If United move back to 4 at the back and play Di Maria in midfield he would becoming a much more tempting pick again over this failed attempt to play him as a striker.

What accolades he has won has absolutely no impact on his FPL-worthiness. Since his early lucky flurry he's been a bang average option. Of course the potential is there, but he and Utd as a whole (the main issue, really) look out of sorts and disjointed.

Our greatest mistake is not lioking at simple numbers like points scored in last 6 weeks; ADM has hardly any. Sideshow Bob was on World team of year - marketing nonsense. Having said that if LVG gets the formation right, giving ADM room to run he could prosper.

I know this is being written in the shadow of Costa exploding, but is he really that essential? The alternative Chelsea trio of: Ivanovic, Fabregas and Hazard all have strong cases to be picked ahead of him. Ivan picked up another 10 points yesterday and is the highest scoring defender, Fabregas assisted again yesterday and has outscored Costa over the course of the season, as has Hazard who is on penalties and rivalling Sanchez for overall top scorer.

I did Costa > Kun as my free transfer last week and now considering whether to bring him back in or not. But all the reasons I took him out for are still sound, so does a one week explosion really change that and put him ahead of the other 3 in the pecking order? Having both him and Aguero unbalances your whole team.

    1. Ice
      • 12 Years
      11 years, 2 months ago

Firstly having him and Kun doesn't unbalance your team, I have both. Secondly why wouldn't you want a player who's scored 17 goals in your team? Thirdly, it's his first PL season so we may not have even seen the best of him.

      1. AgentRed

It's not a case of 'not wanting' him. Of course everyone would want him in for those goals. The debate is whether he's that much better than the other Chelsea options to merit a spot given they've all either exceeded or more or less matched his points scores this season and for less money.

Yeh, Gardos is in instead of Toby. I could have a reshuffle and get another mid price defender but there's not many teams apart from Chelsea and Saints getting cleanses atm so I like the rotation as it gives me more chance of a clean sheet and I can adapt to the fixtures.

It's not my problem, I was responding to the other poster's question. And from their response below obviously this was a doubt for them as well. I'm not saying having Costa is a bad choice, I'm just debating the merits of it now that everyone is looking to squeeze him in alongside Aguero.

Yup and that's the decision to be made. I'm undecided myself as to whether it's worth it or not. At the moment I have Fab and Haz and will either wildcard Costa back in (owned him nearly all season before now) or bring in Ivan.

    3. Billy Gilmore

While I was worried when he got his haul, it really doesn't hurt that much. The Costa owners don't own one of Cesc/Ivan/Terry so didn't really gain that much, plus the savings helped me get more points from other players. Missed out on probably 5 points or something, if that.

Add to that the fact that he was gifted one goal and Swansea's incompetence enhancing his haul, my stance hasn't changed tbh.

Maybe a bit different, but what do you think of this WC team?

    Foster - Myhill
    Clyne - Terry - Bertrand - Wisdom - PVA
Hazard - Sanchez - Di Maria - Chadli - Puncheon
    Aguero - Austin - Kane
    £1.2 ITB

Chadli and Puncheon rotates very well, so think it might be a good combination.

Even an Australian team wouldn't buy him.

Me too and 3 cup games in a week will tire him out. I've learned these cheap strikers are fine but not captain material.

He won't play three cup games, he was rested midweek.

Keeping Costa basically means going Punch Downing + Ivan and 4 cheap defs. Whereas there's all sorts of upgrades if you go for Ings or Austin. Definitely won't be keeping Costa

Wow, nice fixtures. Will play Panti, is PVA worth a go also or should I get Wolfscheid of Stoke for 4.5m?

Depends on the rest of your Def. We may start to play a 352 so with him being a wing back could see him boom. Hes a bit of a defensive liability tho

He's more pricey than Punch though. I brought him in but my budget defence was too woeful with him so had to save a few quid there.

Also keep it quiet. Could be a great differential.

Horror showing ytd with an overall GW ranking of 3m+... Should I activate WC this week or take a hit to get Costa in?

    Hart Foster
    Baines Chester Trippier Yun Caulker
    Alexis Hazard Silva Sterling Downing
    Carroll Kane Austin

    Planning to do : Caulker + Carroll - > Costa and 4.5 DF (-4)

Jason Puncheon reminds me of Robbie Earle back in the day.

You think he's gash, but he keeps popping up with goals and assists.

His previous record wasn't great and Mane will be back soon,
I'm sitting on the fence another while.

Would make Costa happen is all.

And don't want to bring in Downing.

        Henderson? Puncheon?

I own but I could see that game as 0-0/1-1 possibly I'd be in no rush unless he's due a rise or two.
