With winter Wildcards in play, we turn our focus on three in-form midfielders in our second members article of the week. Christian Eriksen, Santi Cazorla and Oscar were all amongst the goals in Gameweek 22 and are more or less identically priced in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) – the former pair set you back 8.2, whilst the Chelsea man is slightly more expensive at 8.3.

With Alexis Sanchez and Eden Hazard looking nailed on for most Fantasy managers, the trio are vying for a spot as the third pricey midfielder in many plans right now. As more look to restructure their sides ahead of the Gameweek 23 deadline in ten days’ time, we assess their recent matches and delve into the data over their last six appearances.

    Panti (Hamer)
    Terry Ivanovic Clyne (PvA Baird)
    ADM Sanchez Hazard Silva Boyd
    Aguero Kane Austin

    1 FT, 0.1m ITB.

    A) Ivanovic/Terry -> Bellerin & Austin -> Giroud (-4).
    B) Ivanovic/Terry -> Bellerin.
    C) Save

Also, who would you drop? Ivanovic or Terry?

Any other suggestions would also be welcome!

    Just a quick question

If you had 8.5m or less to spend, who would you get?

Would it be one of the above or would you get sigurdsson or somebody else?

I know money is always the answer but surely there are enough examples of careers completely ending by moving to bigger clubs to be reserves for players to think that maybe they're better off living on 30k per week and playing than 45k and not? It does baffle me that so many so willingly still do it.

But this is doing something you enjoy, not an office job you hate.. If you got paid to do something you loved doing every day, and then was offered a bit more money to do something less fun, you'd think about it. Enough careers have been wasted for players to think about their careers a bit more by now.

Do players have a choice ? . If Spurs come in and meet Swansea's asking price can Vorm turn around and say no ?. I know he has free will but he will be under pressure from the club , his agent etc to accept and go along with the move .

Yeah that's also a good point. I guess a deal can easily be done without too much of the player's agreement. If Swansea know they can get Fabianski for less, and maybe a smaller wage, then they've made money on the deal and it's ultimately up to them. Fair point!

Any pool fans know why Moreno only played 70 mins last week? is he likely to be rotated much?

reasonable-so difficult to tell-he's the incumbent tho-so go for it

Theoretically he should be. Was clearly preferred by Irvine...but as Chickens says Baird is the incumbent. I'm not sure on Baird myself...thinking of finding the funds to get Wisdom just for security of start. I would be unhappy if Baird gets unseated and I am left without a WBA defender to rotate about.

Yeah. I agree with all of that.I'm thinking it may be worth the risk considering his and WBrom's form though.

It may well be. It's just not "sensible" and does represent quite the risk to me. It would be a tough pill to swallow if your 3.9 defender becomes a dead spot though. Would take two transfers to sort it out most likely..so a tough decision.

He's been available for the two last matches, hasn't he, and still Pulis has chosen Baird over him. Don't they have a FA cup game this weekend as well, to give another indication of Pulis' prefences?

      1. Mr Pink

However, rumours are also that Pulis is in the market to strengthen his defence in January, so who knows what might happen there.

But why? January 31 deadline for both this GW and the transfer window. Unless are you concerned about 25th hour last minute signings that may not be heard about until Feb 1 or something?

Nope. Because 31st is a weekend the window closes at 23:00 on Monday 2nd February. Full confirmation of last minute deals on Tuesday 3rd.

Yes, I might have hit the button prematurely, but it feels good to tinker around a bit when you have to wait two weeks for the next GW. Luckily there'll only be a couple of days left in the window when the next GW starts.

I will probably leave Baird in if he plays in the FA cup and they don't sign any competition for him before Saturday, but leave enough ITB to upgrade to Naughton or someone in that price bracket later if necessary.

So I'm on WC and toying around with breaking the template a bit. Considering Aguero, Costa and Falcao up top?
I can still get Sanchez, Hazard, Terry, Ars/Sot def. what do ye think?

    Foster,
    Terry, Koscielny, Pva, Baird, Wasilewski
    Sanchez,Hazard,AJ,Puncheon,Boyd
    Aguero,Costa,Falcao

My real WC has Clyne, ADM and Kane instead of Wasilewski, AJ and Falcao atm

I think Falcao is "due" though... United fixtures smile kindly on him if he keeps starting. Just toying with it anyway team will most likely be something like :

        Foster
        Terry, Koscielny, Clyne, PVA, Baird
        Sanchez, Hazard, ADM, Puncheon, Boyd
        Aguero, Kane/Berahino, Costa ?

I'd look to get a better fifth mid than Boyd...it would be nice to have someone else to count on a bit if AJ or Puncheon falter...or even to rotate with them. Not a huge fan of Falcao but you could shift to Sturridge once he's back if that looks good in a few weeks time and you won't have to break your team apart.

Rotating mids is tough imo benching points may always happen. The Sturridge swap was my safety net if he returned.
