Robin van Persie is back for United’s clash with Cambridge tonight. Brendan Rodgers is set to ring the changes as Liverpool host Bolton at Anfield, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Hector Bellerin are doubts for Arsenal, Adam Johnson is a concern for Sunderland’s home match with Fulham, whilst West Brom have worries over James Morrison.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (groin) and Hector Bellerin (ankle) are both set for late fitness tests ahead of Arsenal’s cup clash with Brighton on Sunday, Arsene Wenger has revealed. The Gunners boss has also confirmed that Mesut Ozil is likely to start, though Danny Welbeck remains sidelined through injury.

James Morrison is a weekend doubt for West Brom’s cup clash with midlands rivals Birmingham, Tony Pulis has revealed. The Baggies boss has also confirmed he’s keen to bring Wigan wide man Callum McManaman and United’s Darren Fletcher to the Hawthorns before the end of the transfer window.

Frank Lampard could be set to miss City’s showdown with Middlesbrough tomorrow but is expected to be out for only “two to three days”, meaning he’ll be available to face former club Chelsea next weekend.

Mario Balotelli, Joe Allen and Glen Johnson are all available for Liverpool’s home encounter with Bolton this weekend. With a Capital One Cup semi-final second-leg against Chelsea to follow in midweek, Brendan Rodgers has confirmed he’s likely to make some alterations tomorrow.

“I think the players on the outside who haven’t been playing as much see clearly how the team functions and how well it has done so. But we’ve been able to work more in training, so it means those coming into that are into a system and way of working that suits them well. It’s always a balance between consistency and rotation, but it’s something we’re comfortable with. We’ll make changes this weekend, but it shouldn’t disrupt the flow of our play.”

Alan Pardew has confirmed that Marouane Chamakh is available for Palace’s clash with Southampton. The Eagles boss – who has been linked with a move for Bolton’s Lee Chung-Yong this week – has admitted he’s uncertain over Wilfried Zaha’s long-term future at the club:

“I am not sure about that option [making Zaha a permanent player]. What I do know is that he is a player who needs to get his career on the move again. He’s had a decent couple of games, he’s made an impact and he needs to build on that. That is where he’s at. He’s a talent who needs to nail down a permanent position, whether on loan or as a permanent signing, but I have been very pleased with what I have seen so far.”

Sunderland assistant boss Charlie Oatway deputised for Gus Poyet during yesterday’s press briefing and revealed the Black Cats are likely to be missing a trio of players ahead of their home clash with Fulham:

“There are one or two issues on the injury front. Adam (Johnson) has a bit of a calf problem, Wes (Brown) has a knock to his knee and Lee (Cattermole) has also got a bit of a problem with his knee. We are still monitoring those. Lee will be struggling for the weekend but it is not a major concern. We are confident he will be ready for next week.”

Robin van Persie has recovered from an ankle problem, whilst Luke Shaw has also been passed fit ahead of United’s clash with Cambridge this evening. Jonny Evans and Chris Smalling are both ruled out, though, and join Ashley Young on the treatment table.

Ronald Koeman remains without Morgan Schneiderlin, Victor Wanyama and Toby Alderweireld for Southampton’s match against Palace, though is optimistic on the trio’s chances of returning in the next fortnight:

“They are doing well, but they need time. When they got the injuries we said it’d be about three or four weeks, so that means there’s another two weeks from now until they’ll normally be back to play. Of course, we’d like to have all of our players available and maybe we will in two weeks’ time, but not for this Saturday. We won at Ipswich and Newcastle without those players, so we can beat Crystal Palace as well.”

Esteban Cambiasso and Dean Hammond are both available for Leicester’s trip to Tottenham tomorrow. Chris Wood is a doubt due to an ankle problem, whilst Nigel Pearson has also revealed he’s considering handing starts to new boys Mark Schwarzer and Andrej Kramaric.

Sam Allardyce has confirmed that, aside from the injured pair Diafra Sakho and James Collins, West Ham “are all fit and well” ahead of their fourth-round clash against Bristol City.

You guys really hate him, don't you? Can't blame you, I have seen moments from ITV studio in the World Cup and it was a total disgrace. What I find strange, though, is that wasn't he there for like 4 years? Did it really take them that long to realize that you do NOT like him? Because you'd imagine that they'd care about that.

Every time he was on television for those 4 years, Twitter would go crazy. ITV must have received hundreds of thousands of unkind remarks about him. It's a miracle it took this long, although they may have just opted for his contract to run out, rather than paying to sack him. Not sure. If they showed more games, I think they may have ditched him much sooner.

One option is: ADM, Berahino, Puncheon -> Fabregas, Kane, Boyd

Yes for me. Berahino played more like left back against Everton, wouldn't go anywhere near him atm.

The plan Berahino and Puncheon. With Adebayor and Soldado, Kane's prospects look diminished.

Alternatively, I could just downgrade Hamer to a 4.0 and do ADM -> Fabregas.
              Or pick Oscar instead.

Just focus on getting the players you think will score the highest points, regardless of who other players have! If Costa scores braces every game in the next 4 you'll plummet.

    Happy P.O.E.T.S Day gents!!

So am I good to go for the weekend? Subs set up okay?

    Current team:
    Panti
    Terry Bertrand Clyne
    Haz Sanchez(c) Fab Silva
    Aguero(vc) Austin Kane

    Subs: Foster. Boyd. Dann. Hutton.

1FT. Not much in the bank, in case you think I need to swap much.
Thinking of getting Costa in for Austin next GW. Dropping one of silva /Fab.

    Cheers!

You could risk Dann at home to awful Everton over Terry home to awful Man City? Would be quite the punt but would require some bravery.

How about Fab to Eriksen / Caz or ADM? The other three might be more explosive than Fab.

Hello All! Thinking of trying to break the template a little with my WC. How does this squad look:

    Foster / Myhill

    Koscielny / Fonte / PvA / Naughton / Baird

    Alexis / Haz / Sterling / Puncheon / Lucas

    Giroud / Kun / Costa

Alternatively, I could replace Punch w/ Cazorla and Giroud w/ Kane. Thoughts?

Assuming Lucas is your bench fodder it's actually a good call given that he's nailed on for 90 minutes every game at least.

Nah you're good to go. If Caz falls prey to rotation with Walcott / Özil / Ramsey, you're laughing. Puncheon should also be nailed on and Cryps look in the mood to continue attacking, given that their tactics are working

Ah right - don't know whether Wilson is nailed on ahead of Cameron. Wilson played the last game but who knows. Maybe you can just get Dummett or Wasi. Presumably you shouldn't ever have to play your 5th defender anyway so might as well save the cash.

        1. @ImpressiveTackl
          • 15 Years
          11 years, 1 month ago

Yeah but Baird is kinda already his 5th defender (3.9m) by default.

Wilson only played the last game because Shawcross was out. I strongly suspect Stoke's first choice CB partnership will be Shawcross - Wollscheid for the rest of the season.

But so long as Baird is nailed on - which he seems to be - he's a steal. He even got bonus last match so I would play (will be playing) him regularly.

I agree. I'm considering Wollschied atm. He's tall too, could score a goal or two... (sound logic imo)...

Aguero is a must simply because he could always score a hattrick in his upcoming home fixtures and so makes a great captain choice. The others will all do well but it's the impact on captaincy that puts him above the rest.

In essence it's Caz vs ADM. Caz has a good run of upcoming fixtures so you can play him every game with a good chance of good points. On the other hand if he's rested or subbed for one of the returning players that would be painful. ADM hasn't showed any form but if he does and you catch it it could be great. It's gotta be A or C with C slightly in the lead given Caz's solid form atm.

Ah in that case I would go for ADM. He's more likely than Caz of exploding - particularly if he suddenly takes to his new position up front. Leicester's defence is much worse than Villa's.

              1. Flip a coin?

              2. Go with it based on your mood. Safe = Caz, Risk = ADM.

              3. If you're a Man U fan, go with ADM. Arsenal fan - Caz.

RMT Wildcard team (not a good defence I know - but can transfer out defender for similar price when needed).

    Forster Krul
    Wisdom Mee PVA Hutton Taylor
Sanchez (c) Silva Boyd Hazard Ward Prowse

Good team ADM been slow out of the starting blocks so far this season. I myself would expect more from a player of his talent.

Trying to get some differentials in. Should I...

    A. Sanchez > Corzola + Kane > Giroud.

    Or

    B. Silva > Chadli + Kane > Giroud.

    I realise that B isn't very differential.

Someone fill me in on Puncheon/Boyd.

Do they rotate or something or are people playing Puncheon every week now?

rotation wise they arent amazing though but its just boyd is nailed on and puncheon there is a doubt and boyd always a decent option off the bench
