Alexis Sanchez is unlikely to feature for Arsenal’s home clash with Villa this weekend. West Ham have concerns in defence ahead of their trip to Anfield. Kevin Mirallas and James McCarthy could return for Everton’s trip to Crystal Palace, Paul Dummett is ruled out through injury for Newcastle, whilst Mamadou Sakho is likely to be available for Liverpool, despite missing training yesterday.

Arsene Wenger has conceded he is “unlikely to risk” Alexis Sanchez, who picked up a hamstring problem in training. The weekend will come too soon for Danny Welbeck, with Wenger suggesting the forward could return for the north London derby, whilst Jack Wilshere, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Mikel Arteta remain sidelined by injury.

West Ham could be forced into a defensive reshuffle at Anfield, with Sam Allardyce confirming that both Carl Jenkinson and James Tomkins are rated as “touch and go”. The Hammers could be boosted by the return of James Collins, who is back in training after coming off injured against Hull, whilst Alex Song and Joey O’Brien have also emerged as injury concerns ahead of the Liverpool trip.

James McCarthy could return from a hamstring injury for the trip to Selhurst Park along with Kevin Mirallas, with Roberto Martinez revealing that the pair “have a chance” of being involved. Mo Besic is available for the Toffees after recovering from a knock, though Martinez has confirmed that Leon Osman, Steven Pienaar and Tim Howard remain on the treatment table.

Newcastle caretaker boss John Carver has ruled out Paul Dummett for the weekend with a hamstring injury. The stand-in Magpies boss, though, has suggested that the previously injured trio of Gabriel Obertan, Mehdi Abeid and Davide Santon will all be involved against Hull. There is less positive news on Siem de Jong, with Carver reckoning the weekend will come too soon for the Dutchman.

Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho missed training on Thursday, but is expected to return today and prove his fitness in time for the weekend visit of West Ham. Further forward, Liverpool look set to welcome back Daniel Sturridge from injury, with reports suggesting the striker will be amongst the subs when the Reds face off against West Ham on Saturday.

Steve Bruce rolled out an injury update in this morning’s press conference. The Hull boss is optimistic that Nikica Jelavic, Abel Hernandez, Alex Bruce and Andrew Robertson could be available once again. Gaston Ramirez is now fully fit, though Mo Diame is sidelined for at least another month.

Leicester forward Chris Wood will be out for two to three weeks with an ankle problem, according to Nigel Pearson, though Dean Hammond is available again after missing the Stoke and Spurs clashes through injury. The Foxes will also be boosted by the return of Liam Moore, who has overcome an ankle injury in time for the weekend. Matthew Upson could be set to be available for selection for Leicester after returning from ankle surgery.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream as breaking news unfolds.

Not so good with fantasy. Team is in a bit of a state but wanna wait til next week to WC.

          Forster
          Terry, Vergini, Cresswell
          Sanchez*, Cesc*, Haz, ADM
          Rooney, Kane, Austin

          Subs: Siggy*, Hutton, Yun*

Need to wait and see if any news is leaked on Cesc. May do Cesc + Siggy out for a hit or if Cesc is fit then Siggy + Cresswell out for a hit. Really not sure yet.

The team I'm thinking of getting next week is a bit different than the one I'd get this week. Also not really planned enough so don't want to risk it. Got decent players for this week potentially so will see. Hopefully Cesc is fit considering the magnitude of this game.

I love sweeping statements said with full certainty like Mert is more of a rotation threat than Kosc now they've bought Gabriel.

You can't possibly know that. Kosc has had injury troubles and is quite a similar player to Paulista. You may be right, you may not be. It's pure speculation at this point.

Wildcarded couple of weeks ago, my current team is:

    Panti - Foster
    Terry - Trippier - Pieters - Hutton - PVA
    Sanchez - Hazard - Fabregas - ADM - Chadli
    Aguero - Ings - Kane

    2FT

    How do these moves look?

    Fab -> Cazorla
    Ings -> Giroud
    Chadli -> Puncheon

    Ospina Foster
    Monreal Gardos Terry Baird Hutton
Sanchez Di Maria Hazard Oscar Eriksen
    Aguero Gayle Kane
Thinking of doing Sturridge Mane Boyd, for Gayle Di Maria Eriksen or tightening up the defence a bit. Planning to get Yaya back when he's back from Africa.

NZ pitches can be good for seamers, sometimes swing. Not really known for spinning much. Australian pitches tend to be bouncier and quicker so favour the quicks but can also be good for a big turner due to the bounce.

  20. Geordienufc1

Evening all, some WC questions here:

    Panti - 4 mil
    Terry - Fonte - Jones - Bellerin - Wisdom
    Hazard - Cazorla - Sanchez - Fab - Moses
    Aguero - Kane - Austin

    1) Moses as a 5th mid?
Reason: Injuries, anticipated bad weather, multiplicity of GW 27 blanks

    2) Bellerin, Wolly or Pva?
Reason: Hector = Insane value if starting, worth a punt given the potential reward outweighs the risks, and the consequences of his not starting

What do you reckon? Have I got it right? Cheers!

    1. Villan
      • 12 Years
      11 years, 2 months ago

I personally wouldn't go for Austin or Fab with their upcoming blanks (and possible Fab injury)

I'd say Moses is too strong to be a 5th mid but could work out well this week

      1. Geordienufc1
        • 12 Years
        11 years, 2 months ago

Wouldn't you just want them back again the next week..? Got quite a bit of value tied up in Austin, and his underlying stats are still strong, so I'm not too worried there.

Also got value tied up in fab since I've had him since GW1. I don't anticipate the injury to be anything severe given Mou's comments which suggest a precautionary withdrawal - missing 1 game max.

I'm not really too fussed if I have to play a man or two short GW 27, given they would all have a DGW 28 (likely) anyway. Isn't that fair enough?

        Thanks for your thoughts!

          • 12 Years
          11 years, 2 months ago

Fair enough. For me then the DGW just makes you back on par after having missing players in 27. We acquire value to use when needed, I think now is the time to act but just my opinion!

I think I'm going to Captain Hazard.

Great analysis here from Micheal Cox

    http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2015/jan/30/chelsea-manchester-city-tactical-guide-michael-cox

Hazard loves playing one-two's. Can get in behind Zaba bombing forward and City showed against Arsenal that they are susceptible to the one-two in behind Zaba. Neville called it, Arsenal kept trying it and eventually got a pen from it.
