In his Thursday lunchtime press conference, Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Alexis Sanchez will miss Saturday’s trip to Tottenham with the hamstring injury that forced him out of last weekend’s win over Aston Villa.

Discussing the injury situation, the Gunners boss admitted the Chilean could be in contention for the plum home clash against Leicester, however – which takes place just three days after their trip to White Hart Lane:

“The latest is that Alexis is not ready. He is not far away, the Leicester game is a possibility. He is of course very difficult to keep quiet! He is training but it’s light training.”

Sanchez has tumbled 0.2 in price in the FPL game this week and now sits at 11.3 – given that winter wildcards are still in play, today’s news will spark a further exodus. With Santi Cazorla in such fine form and with both Mesut Ozil and Theo Walcott bagging a goal apiece against Paul Lambert’s side, there are no shortage of options available for Fantasy managers to consider in Wenger’s midfield right now.

The Arsenal boss also confirmed that Danny Welbeck is available for selection and with the schedule picking up pace, he clearly doesn’t have to rush his star player back into action. If Sanchez is fit for midweek, though, those who choose to sell face an uncomfortable Tuesday evening’s viewing if his manager choose to unleash him against the league’s third worst defence – his last seven appearances at the Emirates have garnered 78 points, with returns of 13, 16, 2, 9, 9, 10 and 19 points.

That's annoying. How much do we think he'll drop between now and being confirmed fit for the next game?

Luckily, there is only a very short gap between Saturday and the Tuesday line ups. He'll go down once more this week, and then maybe twice before Tuesday.

Wildcard fail - if only I'd dropped him for Cazorla instead of greedily holding onto the 'value' 🙁

Agreed - it's a sunk cost, got to decide what action to take this week now. Sanchez -> Silva looks decent.

You should have sold Sanchez before Villa game.

If I'd sold Sanchez before Villa, I wouldn't have had PVA's 12 come off my bench. So I can't complain.

Wenger mindgames? What benefit does he have to actually rule him out?

Because 'mindgames' is a bunch of nonsense. They asked for updates, he gave them.

Wenger usually fairly honest. With Walcott back and last weeks performance he has enough to worry Spurs!

Fekk that. Gonna be crowded here on the cazorla bus then.I very much liked his yellow uncertain status with money focused managers holding on to him while cazorla took us wise guys for a sunny ride.

    STEP UP BOYDINHO!

Rage though. Did early transfers Punchy > Silva and Bertrand > Bellerin (-4).

Not playing my season wildcard for this, I'm keeping it for the DGW scenario.

Darn. come on Boyd, and Come on Spurs!!

I bought Sanchez when he was 10.6, no way am I selling just for an away game against Spurs. He won't drop that much if he's back next week.

Already dropped 0.2m and likely to drop another 0.1m before the deadline, who knows how many drops he will suffer next week. I brought at 10.5 and am selling.

who else is there? Ox isn't back in full training yet, Welbeck isn't that great as a winger and playing Rosicky means a serious lack of pace in attack
