In his Thursday lunchtime press conference, Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Alexis Sanchez will miss Saturday’s trip to Tottenham with the hamstring injury that forced him out of last weekend’s win over Aston Villa.

Discussing the injury situation, the Gunners boss admitted the Chilean could be in contention for the plum home clash against Leicester, however – which takes place just three days after their trip to White Hart Lane:

“The latest is that Alexis is not ready. He is not far away, the Leicester game is a possibility. He is of course very difficult to keep quiet! He is training but it’s light training.”

Sanchez has tumbled 0.2 in price in the FPL game this week and now sits at 11.3 – given that winter wildcards are still in play, today’s news will spark a further exodus. With Santi Cazorla in such fine form and with both Mesut Ozil and Theo Walcott bagging a goal apiece against Paul Lambert’s side, there are no shortage of options available for Fantasy managers to consider in Wenger’s midfield right now.

The Arsenal boss also confirmed that Danny Welbeck is available for selection and with the schedule picking up pace, he clearly doesn’t have to rush his star player back into action. If Sanchez is fit for midweek, though, those who choose to sell face an uncomfortable Tuesday evening’s viewing if his manager choose to unleash him against the league’s third worst defence – his last seven appearances at the Emirates have garnered 78 points, with returns of 13, 16, 2, 9, 9, 10 and 19 points.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

If Sanchez is definitely out for a game on the 7th, the chances of him starting a game on the 10th seem pretty slim.

I suspect the next time we'll see Sanchez will be Feb 21st.

TOLD YOU it was serious. All those who kept him on the WC. Ludicrous. And you can bet your bottom dollar he will at the very least be benched against the walk over leicester.

I'll keep my WC Kosc, Caz, Donkey thank you very much

Loads got burned by Costa earlier in the season. I think it made sense to hold him WC or not until definitive news given his points potential and value. That said the holders (me) are incredibly lucky we've been given the definitive news this early.

Your winter wild card must be played before 11:30 this Saturday. Your seasonal WC (if ou still have it) can be played any time you like. Or not even played if you so wish.

I have the same Sanchez predicament as many others, but am on a WC so don't mind too much. Anybody else feel like getting Cazorla in is just chasing points? His underlying stats aren't great, and surely Arsenal have to stop getting penalties at some point...Think I'm gonna go without an Arsenal mid for the Spurs game and re-evaluate for the Leicester game.

is sanchez => hazard a total no-brainer, even if it means benching one of cazorla/mané?
caz has pens, which makes him maybe too risky to bench. so mané then, it pains me to do it
alternative transfer is a boring defence shuffle, getting a SOT defender and having PVA as my only playing sub

Historically it's usually a very attacking game with quite a few goals. It'll be the first real test for Ospina, and these games tend to be a who can outscore the opposition

          Will probably be 0-0

Metrolink GMPTE and United will all be working on a contingency plan. It may affect attendance but I don't think it'll get cancelled

I remember seeing a documentary by someone called Montgomery Python about how manchester people used to walk 50 miles in their bare feet with only a lump of coal for dinner to get ti' work n back. This won't stop them

There's a tram strike in Manchester next Wednesday, hopefully it won't put the game in doubt:

    bought for 10.4, currently 11.3, can sell for 10.8. I can afford a price drop can't I?

      Sanchez > Silva/Walcott
Save 1FT for Leicester game, can't see him being rushed back when they have other squad members back
Then use 2FTs to downgrade Krul>Myhill and Silva/Walcott back to Sanchez

      IMO

Would you keep Puncheon on WC? I can upgrade him to Sterling/Eriksen/ADM

    Question...

Rival played his (jan?) WC two gameweeks ago, though he still has the 'all-season' round one, his team is in tatters now! can he play the other one this week? ... (or can the one he played two weeks ago be his normal 'all-season' one and he'll play his jan one this week)

No doubt i've made this sound overly confusing!

How the hell should I change this team around them after the Alexis news?

    Krul Panti
    Terry Fonte Bellerin PvA Wisdom
    SANCHEZ Haz Silva Sterling Cork
    Kun Giroud Agüero

Sanchez to Cazorla would free out 2,7M. How could I use that to improve this side?

    Anyone?

Won't be a waste when you're trying to downgrade Haz, Silva or Sterling to fit him back in again

Been sat on the old post like a fool, not realising this was up.

Should I do Sanchez to Silva for free, if it means I can't get Sanchez back until GW 29 at the earliest? I've got to, haven't I?

    Foster/Myhill
    Terry/Bertrand/PVA/Jones/Wisdom
    Sanchez/Walcott/Hazard/ADM/Boyd
    Aguero/Kane/Austin

Frustrating as there are other issues I wanted to address.

Utd game wont be affected considering we know about the strike this far in advance. Besides who uses the tram anyway. I get cabs everywhere on the social
