In his Thursday lunchtime press conference, Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Alexis Sanchez will miss Saturday’s trip to Tottenham with the hamstring injury that forced him out of last weekend’s win over Aston Villa.

Discussing the injury situation, the Gunners boss admitted the Chilean could be in contention for the plum home clash against Leicester, however – which takes place just three days after their trip to White Hart Lane:

“The latest is that Alexis is not ready. He is not far away, the Leicester game is a possibility. He is of course very difficult to keep quiet! He is training but it’s light training.”

Sanchez has tumbled 0.2 in price in the FPL game this week and now sits at 11.3 – given that winter wildcards are still in play, today’s news will spark a further exodus. With Santi Cazorla in such fine form and with both Mesut Ozil and Theo Walcott bagging a goal apiece against Paul Lambert’s side, there are no shortage of options available for Fantasy managers to consider in Wenger’s midfield right now.

The Arsenal boss also confirmed that Danny Welbeck is available for selection and with the schedule picking up pace, he clearly doesn’t have to rush his star player back into action. If Sanchez is fit for midweek, though, those who choose to sell face an uncomfortable Tuesday evening’s viewing if his manager choose to unleash him against the league’s third worst defence – his last seven appearances at the Emirates have garnered 78 points, with returns of 13, 16, 2, 9, 9, 10 and 19 points.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    Well that's an absolute disaster!

Nothing's worth a (-8) to get him out and back in so think I'll be sticking with Boyd.

But don't you think he won't be risked vs Leicester as well? He'll just be eased in from the bench mostly you'd think.

Possible but even still might not be worth the hits. I really need to get Trippier and Ings out next GW before their horror run.

My first sub for the Leicester game would be Wisdom (SWA).

Boyd (WBA) and Wisdom (SWA) + 8 v Silva (HUL, sto) or Ozil (tot, LEI)?

Looking at it again, maybe I could get away with benching Trippier for a while.

And we get the Arsenal team news before the Leicester game so I could make a call on ADM/Ozil to Sanchez (-4) then?

On my WC I could go for a bit of a power 5 in midfield. Very do-able.

    Foster/Krul

    PVA Bellerin Zouma Wisdom Clyne
    Cazorla Hazard Silva Sterling ADM
    Aguero Austin Kane

    0.5 in bank

But will probably end up doing Austin -> Giroud and downgrading one of the 5 mids

Will have lower ownership than either Cazorla or Walcott despite being the best footballer of the three....

Urgh, old post and now bottom of the page:

Should I do Sanchez to Silva for free, if it means I can't get Sanchez back until GW 29 at the earliest? I've got to, haven't I?

    Foster/Myhill
    Terry/Bertrand/PVA/Jones/Wisdom
    Sanchez/Walcott/Hazard/ADM/Boyd
    Aguero/Kane/Austin

Frustrating as there are other issues I wanted to address.

Others are playing their 5th midfielder which in your case is Boyd.

All depends on how much you bought Sanchez for and what you can stomach losing

      1. Doolittle
        • 13 Years

The selling value would be 10.9, and he should be down to around that in a week or so.

Plus whoever you get in (i.e. Cazorla/Silva) may very well go up in price and therefore you only need him to come down to 11.0-11.1

I'm still in the cup and this is my midfield. I have 1FT.
    Sanchez Hazard ADM Puncheon Boyd
Sanchez will not play next game and maybe not against Leicester. Caz will surely play and has been on fire. I can sell Sanchez for 10,8m and get Caz for 8,4 and have extra cash to upgrade Punch later. Or I can buy Sanchez again in 2-3 weeks for not much loss(he will surely drop more)

    A) Say goodbye to Sanchez to improve chances in the Cup (and in points general!).
    ->Get Cazorla
    ->Get Silva
    B) Keep Sanchez this week, play Boyd off bench and hope he plays vs Leicester

I am in a similar situation and am inclined to take a -4 hit to move Sanchez to someone more explosive than Boyd. I expect Boyd to get 2 points; what fun is that? I could move Sanchez to Sterling, Ozil, or Walcott, and net negative points if my replacement does not score, or, I could net more than 2 of the Boyd points if the replacement has a big game. It feels more fun to do the high risk/high reward thing and gamble on a big game from a more productive replacement. The secondary benefit is the avoidance of a team value hit, but that is truly secondary.
